A mouse ran across our table twice and they did nothing.... so I’d say it’s safe to not dine here.
We were ignored for a good 30 minutes and that didn’t change as the meal progressed.
We had to beg for service.
We loved our dinner!! Food was delicious, service was great and overall experience was lovely. We will be back
Great food and ambiance
Fantastic brunch. Best French Toast ever, and great omelette. Although it is a bit pricy, it is cozy and unpretentious. Great attention from the host and waitstaff. Highly recommended for a weekend treat.
Recommend it to people watch
Service was just Ok. Food was good. Drinks were good! Cute atmosphere.
Always a treat. Love the sweet potato falaffel. Very welcoming staff.
Good food but ridiculously overpriced
Bad French wine at least 10X too expensive
We sent back a very acidic wine ($68) - very bad reaction of the waitress who ostracized instead of apologizing - we just felt guilty...
Appetizers and entrees are reliably good, as is the service. But this last visit was much louder than ever before.—hard to have a conversation. Rustic floor boards made our table and chairs wobbly. Dessert menu was very limited, not very exciting and our lemon tart was pedestrian.
While the service was fine, the food was terrible. The portions were completely inadequate and not well prepared or tasty. On the basis of this experience, I would not return to Claudette nor would I recommend it.
Love this place, food is always good and fresh, like the team that works here and always a good experience
Claudette never disappoints. The service is always great and the food is always delicious. The ambiance is unpretentious and the room is casually elegant. It can get a bit loud on a crowded winter evening, but there's no way you can avoid that in New York it seems. On a warm weather day, with the doors open to 5th Avenue, the atmosphere can be both vibrant and quietly soothing at the same time.
Excellent food and ambiance. A lovely experience except for a rude server.
Fabulous food and service. My entire family enjoyed the experience.
Both maitre d' and hostess were very welcoming upon entering the restaurant. On requesting outside seating, they said people were leaving shortly and that would be possible. Our waitress, busboy, and any service person in our vicinity was very helpful, warm and considerate. I also loved the bottoms up coffee cup - for $4.50, that was a nice touch. Omelette was terrific, as was the brioche French Toast and all that came with it. Perfect for outdoors. Indoors, very pretty but certainly noisier.
I have never written a poor review but in this instance, I must make an exception. Simply put, this restaurant is a pretentious sham. I have travelled to France several times and any similarity to a restaurant serving French cuisine is purely coincidental. All the classics were absent, in entrees as well as desserts and not a single baguette to be found. A true Frenchman would have cringed at the menu choices. I had salmon and scallops (only 4 were served as a main entree) and my Husband had octopus and Artic char. We were not impressed with the food, the taste being so-so at best. We were so unhappy with this meal that we left after the entrees. Moreover, the cost of the meal was expensive with so little given in return. A truly disappointing experience. C’est la vie.
Very nice restaurant where we went for brunch as we are vegetarians. Outside is nice this time of year
This was my first time there and I can honestly say it’s very interesting.
The octopus and lamb and of course rose de Provence were perfect for date night:
Lovely place. Great service and food.
Excellent service and great food- highly recommended.
My gal pal's and I came here for our monthly dinner. We had a very hands on waitress who let us try multiple kinds of wines before committing to a bottle. Everything was delicious, particularly the truffle hummus.
Lovely place - perfect for a summer lunch. Decor mostly white with a country French ambiance. They offer a two-course prix fixe lunch with somewhat limited options, plus $8 glasses of wine. For spice-avoiders, be advised - many of the dishes feature harissa, the North African red seasoning. I would definitely return, and try an outdoor table, if the NY weather isn't so hot and humid as it was on my initial visit.
The weekday breakfast buffet is a Mediterranean getaway on Lower Fifth Avenue. Instead of chaffing dishes of larded eggs and sausages, Claudette's elegant spread starts with glass bowls of creamy almond and vegetable gazpacho. Follow that with seasoned watermelon and feta skewers. Moving on, there is the revelation of a boldly-spiced Israeli salad, savory lamb koftas and warm, homemade pitas. You won't leave hungry. Gracious service. Outdoor seating on the avenue. And because I'm doing the low carb thing, I didn't even mind that they charged extra for pastries and fruit juice. Highly recommended.
It was quieter outside. Go figure. But a wonderful meal.
The entire experience was amazing. The food and the staff knocked it out of the park.
Excellent and unique food. Strong service orientation. Friendly waiters and staff. Little noisy but cute and warm ambience.
Claudette is an awesome neighborhood gem. Great food, service and ambience.
I was disappointed in the French Toast; it was mushy. Coffee was quite good.
We had an $18 little cup of hummus that was supposed to have garlic and truffle. First, there was no truffle there, and I would say Sabra’s hummus is golden right next to this. Chicken was greasy and pita bread was flavorless. Very unfortunate experience to a place I always wanted to try. not coming back :(
Excellent food - presentation and value.
Went for restaurant week. Compared to other restaurants, the offerings were on par with the regular, superb menu. Gazpacho was fresh and different, the vegetarian tagine was spicy and filling and the preserved lemon tart had a perfect filling (crust a little thick). Waiter was attentive but not intrusive and kept our wine chilled but out of the way. All in all a great night especially for a restaurant week menu.
Good food but interestingly menu more Mediterranean than French imo..
We got the best table in house, next to the bar with room to spread out. It was more quiet back there and the staff really took care of us. It was a birthday celebration (mine!) and we will all come back again!
If you eat outside, the noise level is fine. Inside more of a problem for us.
Service is always excellent and the food, delicious.
The crispy artichokes were good. But the Bouillabaisse should have been a shining star, and it was very disappointing.
Service was slow. Food was mediocre. Always worth trying new restaurants, but won’t be back to this one.
