Claude Bosi at Bibendum
Bene ma non benissimo.
We had a wonderful, memorable experience at Bibendum. We had the surprise menu and it was exactly that, a pleasant surprise and a lot of fun! All 6 dishes were delightful, beautifully and thoughtfully placed, cleverly played with the senses in contrast to the dish’s muted colours. We particularly enjoyed the signature dish nosotto, pine nuts had a nice crunch, creamy yet light, citrus flavour and spice gave a nice kick; rabbit and langoustine. The amalfi lemon dessert was a lot of fun.
Four of us went for a joint birthday lunch and we were not disappointed.
From the moment we walked in the service was top notch. We opted for the surprise menu and the food was sublime.
Great atmosphere, fabulous building and decor, with great friends it doesn’t get much better.
What a wonderful experience- the service and food was excellent. It was a real treat for a special occasion.
Both reserved and extravagant, the signature tasting menu was an absolute delight. No bite felt out of place, the staff were a delight and after 3 and a half hours, I'm very happily full, but not uncomfortably so. Truly a gem in London's culinary scene
We have been to this restaurant several times and have never been disappointed! The food is sublime, the service attentive, friendly and effortlessly efficient. It is such a treat to be seated where one can see into the kitchen and watch the chefs as they work! It is an expensive restaurant, but for what you get and the excellent quality of every aspect, it is well worth pushing the boat out when you can.
Our first visit to Bibendum and we were royally looked after from the second we entered. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and conscientious and the sommelier and table waiter stood out as exemplary. Claude Bosi welcomed us at the beginning of the evening and thanked us on exit. What a gent!
We both chose the 'Surprise Menu' with wine pairing and I have to say it was a great choice! The food was knock out as we expected and there were many surprise elements. However, as imaginative as some of the plates looked and smelt the best thing about his food was the taste - it was knock out food full of punch and delivered on it's promise. We will return!!
Quite expensive £115 for a 3 courses lunch but the food is great tho!
Incredible experience from start to finish. Absolutely everything from start to finish was utterly superb. Both the service and food were exceptional and the attention to detail throughout was exquisite. Already planning a return visit. Thank you from us both to the entire team for a truly wonderful evening!
Whilst the combination of flavours and textures in the dishes are inventive, and the visual appeal sometimes exquisite, the overall food experience was flatter than I’d hoped it would be. A pigeon cooked in a salt crust was actually cooked in a salt pastry crust, rendering the breasts tender and pink (good) but the legs were not part of the finished dish. A contrasting final treatment to the breast would have added something more. The chocolate soufflé was in contrast wonderful and almost too large, but not cloying and very balanced so a great success. The accompanying vanilla ice cream was however unpleasant, the cream or custard having been infused overlong with the pod rendering the final ice cream an off-putting grey colour as well as giving it an aroma reminiscent of dead lilies. Not good. Lastly, the room is lovely and the tables very nicely separated for privacy, but the use of obviously bespoke and over-designed trolleys for champagnes and cheeses was a sad note. Having to call for the bill at the end of the meal, and with no farewell takeaway treat, was a limp end to what was otherwise terrific service. Two stars is one too many in my view, and I’ll file this one away as an experience but not one I’ll repeat.
Really really good . Had lunch on sunday 2/3-2020, we had a culinary trip to London just to visit Top Restaurants and Claude Bosi at Bibendum was THE hight ligt of the trip!
Thank You so much . Team of Bibendum .
Brilliant, nothing to add or change. We shared a delicious moment on a historical site. Congratulations,
We've been to Bibendum a few times but this was the first time with Claude Bosi as the Chef. It has always be a great restaurant but now, it is just amazing.
Everything was perfect, there is nothing to improve.
Food was excellent, aerial. Great flavors, nice presentation. Claude Bosi makes you discover food you know in another way. He's quite a magician.
The setting is chic with just the right touch of originality.
Wines are great but the choice was difficult so big is the list!
The service was one of the best I've ever experienced. Everyone was very professional, paying attention to every detail, but they never stopped smiling and being casual, adapting themselves to guests.
Doriane was speacially a great host. She was very patient, explaining every dish on the menu with such an enthousiasm we would have liked to taste everything!
It was my Birthday and they brought a small cake with a candle with full discretion.
Thank you for such a nice time!
It. Was. AMAZING!!!
High expectations, yet overdelivered.
This restaurant provided a special and memorable experience and we highly recommend it to people who want an exceptional meal. We chose the "surprise" menu and anticipated what each course might bring.
Great fre ch tasting menu
Wonderful food, beautifully presented with relaxed, yet efficient service. We had the set lunch which was excellent value. The waiters treated us to little extras throughout the meal and gave my partner a special dessert as he was celebrating his birthday. Claude Bosi also came out to talk to us while we were there.
Absolutely fantastic lunch with the surprise menu. This restaurant should be a three star one. Have been at all three stars in London but Claude Bosi is better compared to them and very nice price. Wine pairing might be a little bit expensive since they pour quite little…
Amazing experience. Thoughtful at every step. Be ready to have your mind blown!
Drinks in the bar all good . Arrived at table and over 1 hour to receive any bread . The other tables got canapés but they skipped that for us and went straight to a amuse bouche ( egg) .... my starter was tasteless .... winter truffle might as well as have been paper ! Prawn starter much better . Mains - rabbit was good not amazing . Cod main was a substitute for John Dory ( which seemed quite a theme... many substitutes including what they said was out or season white truffle ... that’s fine ... just remove it from your menu then !) deserts — very average.
All a big shame as I had been to lunch several months ago pre Michelin stars and it was fantastic and all the food was very tasty. ..... which seems sadly lacking now . I had previously recommended to many people but would struggle to do so after this visit . I think they have lost what made them great which was really tasty food that you crave more of.....
we ordered the tasting menu and the wines to go with it, it was a great experience
Excellent evening, we had drinks at the cocktail bar & moved to the restaurant for dinner. Food was great, fantastic selection of wines - worth the 2 Michelin Stars!
Arrived early and taken to the bar. Had a couple of drinks and as our booking time approached we had to ask the bar man where we go. He went off to fetch someone. Got seated and ordered the sample menu with wine. Had the amuse bouche and waited and waited. The staff were very good, but the first course arrived an hour after we sat down. I did at one stage suggest we changed to the a la carte menu and they brought the menu. I must admit that first course was great so we decided to continue. To be fair things did speed up and we enjoyed the food. We won’t be back in future we will stick to our favorites. Shaw I watched Saturday kitchen the other week.
Outstanding evening from start to finish.
The team both FOH and BOH were excellent.
We went for our Anniversary and we have left already planning our next return.
The FOH are warm, welcoming, knowledgable and so professional but with their own charm and twist. The restaurant is beautifully laid out, relaxed and intimate & the food is beyond outstanding.
After enjoying our way through the tasting menu & wine pairing, then ending the evening with the most beautiful chocolates! So grateful to have spent time in the kitchen with Chef, thank you for the most beautiful evening.
Very disappointing compared to our last 2 times there. Food was not up to the quality of a one star restaurant. Even with many service people the service was lacking.
Birthday meal for my partner. A great all round resturant. A very homely feeling. We will return. Great service and attention to detail.
Great food and great environment. Next time we will try tasting menu
A most exquisite meal and service to match. Despite their professionalism the waitstaff were warm, attentive and made us feel very welcome. The food was unsurpassed. Will definitely return.
Incredible if this man doesn’t get his third star this year I give up
An exceptional experience in an extraordinary space
Exceptional and beautifully presented food
with friendly and impeccably professional service.
The service was amazing, especially given all the various food preferences we asked to be offered. The food is beautiful visually and the taste exquisite.
Sad to say it was pretty average. Unfortunate as i had very high hopes given some fabulous meals at Hibiscus in the past.
Amazing meal, quality better than the fat duck!
Toilets over flowing. Found a piece of paper in my dish dating it, it was ten days old.
Taste is sacrificed for presentation, prawn starter and venison main course both far too salty. Chocolate souffle bitter and had powdery texture, very disappointing. The best element were the hors d'oeuvres which were incredible. Service was attentive, ambience a bit flat. At these prices you expect an exceptional all round experience, unfortunately this was not achieved.
The thought for Claude designing an open kitchen was so mind blowing! To be able to watch Claude and his kitchen brigade operate smoothly and faultlessly as one and provide dish after dish of such a high standard. You've made my son's 21st birthday a memorable occasion.
We had a wonderful time at Bibendum. The food was exceptional and we really enjoyed it.
Food was exceptional, fresh cuisine with a modern twist. Tasted dishes I would never consider if it was a la carte. The snails dish was truly wonderful. We went on a busy saturday evening and compared to other Michelin starred restaurants they seemed to stretched with the number of staff to support customers
Fabulous food, service and atmosphere. Highly recommend
