The opening menu is inspired by Chef Nicolai’s experience growing up in Pasadena, California. The menu reflects the cultural cornucopia of Southern California and encapsulates the playfulness of childhood. Every dish is a nod to Chef’s favorite foods and flavors as a kid. Some take inspiration from his parent’s creative concoctions. Others pay homage to the food establishments his family frequented, ranging from the Chinese dim sum restaurant to the Mexican taco truck to the Indian corner store to the Pastrami fast food joint. These casual dishes are themselves growing up into haute cuisine. The result is a dining experience filled with nostalgia and whimsy.

Incredible tasting menu inspired by Chef Nicolai’s childhood. Highlights included the bouquet, blackened seafood one biter, quesadilla course (with caviar? Yes please), the duck taco. Oreo dessert def took me back to being a kid. The most fun part was sitting at this big communal table and making new friends. Wine pairing “broke the rules” in a really fun way. Can’t wait to try the cocktail pairing next time. I also loved finishing my evening in Nightcap, the connected speakeasy. Already plotting when I can comeback!

10/10 experience! The service was spectacular, food incredibly inventive and delicious, wine pairings were perfect (and might I add, wines I wouldn’t have personally tried had it not been for the pairing- huge plus!), and the experience was unlike any other with a communal table that allowed us to share the joy of these explosive flavors together. Chef’s stories along with his creative flavor combinations were mesmerizing! What a memorable experience!! Nothing like it!

The entire experience was Michelin level. The food had familiar flavors presented in very unique ways. As a 35yr restaurant professional, I can say, the experience was like nothing I’ve ever encountered. The space, the vibe and the staff, were all on point and razor sharp. It takes a lot to impress me and this experience exceeded all expectations. I see great things in their future.

All I can say about Class Act is WOW! This was not just a meal—it was a symphony of creativity, passion, and culinary brilliance. The food was stunningly delicious, the service impeccable, and every dish was plated like a piece of art. Truly the best dinner I’ve ever had—including at The French Laundry. The ambiance was just as memorable. With only sixteen guests seated around a grand oval table, the evening struck a perfect balance between intimacy, privacy, and shared experience. Chef Nicolai introduced each course with warmth and charm, sharing personal stories and insights into the preparation. It felt less like a restaurant and more like an extraordinary dinner party in a friend’s beautiful home. And the drinks? Exceptional. I had the cocktail pairing—a rare and welcome touch at this level of dining—while my wife enjoyed a selection of rare and beautifully matched wines. I wish I could eat here every week.

Fantastic experience. More than just intriguing, delicious, beautiful food. From the minute you walk in, the service is superb...not stuffy but rather caring and particular. The space is intimate and comfortable, as you watch the artists do their work in a beautifully appointed open kitchen. The tasting menu was delightful, as the 13 (?) courses built to the finale, which was two creative takes on duck. Best I've ever had (French laundry included). Think of it as "dinner and a show". Don't miss it, it's special.
