I moved to Austin three months ago. I'm originally from Boston, MA. I know good seafood - and these oysters are amazing. I will be back multiple times to try everything on the menu! I highly recommend the ceviche if you're not super hungry. The clams and muscles dish was excellent to. They cook the muscles perfectly, in my opinion.
I was trying to book this restaurant for awhile and got lucky with almost last minute at dissent time! Yey! Now I have booked two weeks ahead to come back again with my family! Charming place with great food! Service was great, of course!
Clark's is one of my go - tos. This visit was with a cousin from Dublin who said, "wow, this place is cool". great drinks, great oysters and ceviche, great snapper and husband said great burger!
I made reservations for 4 for my daughters 30th Birthday. I told them when I confirmed the reservation and when we arrived. It was never acknowledged not by 1 person. It was so dark we had to use our phones to read the menu. It was so loud we could hardly hear each other and had to raise our voice to carry on conversation. The room was hot and 2 of us had to go outside to cool off. The food was great but not for the prices paid. The server was not impressive. She spilled my daughters drink as she was clearing the plates. She didn’t replace the drink or discount the charge. We won’t be going back.
Always a 5-stars experience - Clark’s NEVER disappoints!
Food was great as always. I mainly come here for the great choices of oysters. But overall food and wine is great here.
Service was really slow though. I had to wait about 10 minutes to get seated despite having reservations and the place was half empty. There were two hostesses through the night and since they were not doing their job maybe they just have one and add another waiter/waitress instead. The wait to get hold of someone was sometimes ridiculously long.
Staff is friendly but clearly not able to move between tables fast enough.
Oysters, cioppino, kale, and grits were all extraordinary, as always. The service is unfailingly professional, smooth, and friendly. We had a fantastic dinner. I can’t wait to go back.
Always excellent, fresh seafood and oysters. Great service and ambience, inside and out. Highly recommend!
Food and service are always awesome
I have been desperate to try Clark's hamburger for several months now. Fortunately, the hamburger is on their brunch menu so I was able to try it when we went there for brunch. First thing you will find with Clark's is that parking is at a premium. Also the restaurant itself is quite small with more room outside than inside. This seems to be a common attribute of the trendier Austin restaurant. The biggest downer for us was the proximity of the table next to us. They were seated about halfway through our meal and from that point on we basically went from a party of two to a party of four. They seemed to be on a first date so at least there was some drama to the inevitable eavesdropped conversation.
Upon sitting down we were provided sourdough bread and scones. No complaints---both were solid. For our appetizer we ordered the lobster mac and cheese. From presentation to taste it was a hit. We also had New England Clam Chowder. We loved it. We next ordered our entrees. I, of course, got the hamburger with fries, while my wife got "egg in the hole" grilled cheese. The hamburger lived up to its reputation. It is a smaller burger in diameter, but plenty thick. The cheese was gruyere, I believe, with a thicker bun. One of the best I've had. The fries were tasty, but nearly impossible to eat. The thin "haystack" style fries were too thin and small to eat with my fingers and my fork was worthless in trying to stab and/or shovel them into my mouth. Finally, I used the ketchup as a binder to keep the fries on my fork long enough to get them to my mouth. My wife really like her sandwich, but the bread was hard and tough to chew as sourdough tends to be when grilled.
We had to wait a little while for our mac and cheese to start the meal, but the staff kept us in drinks and checked in with us often. Management even comped the mac and cheese because of the wait. A really good meal. We will be back.
Loved this place! We were in a very private booth outside and everything was perfection. Food was amazing!
Met a friend I had not seen in almost five years. We got to catch up, have lunch and enjoyed ourselves. Hard to have a private conversation though and at times the noise level so high we could not hear each other.
Clark’s was excellent from start to finish. The gin martini and branzino were particularly good. Service was on-point. We cannot suggest Clark’s highly enough!
Seriously one of the best lunches I have had in Austin. Couldn't recommend it more. I had the cioppino seafood stew. The broth was to die for, and made for quite the bread dipping extravaganza at the end. Somehow kept it off my shirt too!
Always a taste delight, parking can be difficult, plan ahead to spend some time searching
It took three tries to get a reservation - we ended up there on a Sunday night. We were seated right away for our reservation, but there were no other open seats inside. We were short a knife and the insert for one menu, but the waiter brought the missing items and apologized. The wine list is not extensive, but there are several options for spirits. The clam chowder was excellent; baked oysters rich and yummy; crispy red fish over grits were fabulous! We will go back if we can plan ahead far enough to get another reservation. (Or maybe we will wait until it's nice enough to sit outside)
Clark's is the best! They have the best burgers and oysters in town.
Amazing food. Fresh & different
No gulf oysters . Outside tables were nice. Very loud inside. Clams and mussels were bland. Gravlax was perfect.
Never disappoints. Raw oysters and crab cakes are always great. Menu doesn't change much, but I feel it's because they have it dialed in.
Just a Friday lunch at Clark’s! Hard to beat with your amazing seafood and sandwiches!
Seafood was outstanding. Pricey, but extremely good food.
To tell the truth, I was a bit disappointed. Now in all fairness, I went with fairly high expectations. And is so often the case, they simply were not met. Everything was good, but not great! The snapper was cooked well, but I didn't care for the batter and the grits were excellent. However the kale was bitter and my wife's hamburger was dry. The fries looked outstanding, but way too much work for very little flavor and satisfaction.
I know it's not fair to judge a restaurant based upon one trip, but I don't think I'm going back anytime soon.
More experienced staff would make this place a winner.
It's telling me my review has to be at least 50 characters; however all I want to say is "As always, excellent!".
The wait person was less than stellar. My scallops were extremely salty and had to be sent back.
Love this place! The burger is literally to die for, so are the oysters! I try and come here every time I come to Austin!
Went with four friends from college. All very picky about food and wine. All gave it 5 stars! Incredibly good food, great wine list and full bar. Waiter was really good! We had redfish, crispy snapper, cioppino, linquine with clams and 3 dozen incredibly good oysters. Then we had three deserts - pear crisp, Affogato and dark Chocolate Tart. Best deserts any of us have had in months. The whole meal exceeded all our high expectations. We had earlier in the weekend eaten at Uchi, Emmer & Rye and Odd Duck. We loved them all, but this was our favorite. Great low lighting. Couldn't have asked for a better evening.
We got there early than our reservation, they seated us quickly, the food was awesome as always, attentive staff, love the tuxedo oysters are a staff. We'll be back.
Clark's is consistency wonderful. The quality of the ingredients and food is fantastic. Always fresh.
We arrived opening day and continue to return to one of our favorite watering spots. Great food great ambiance
I have eaten at Clark's three times. I always order the Lobster Roll which is expensive, but delicious. I have noticed other people's food is lacking for the price. This go around a friend ordered Shrimp Louie. There were just a few shrimp on her salad. Some meals are just not tasty either. It is a fun little lunch spot, but it is not a great value. Overall, it's best attribute is the food is fresh, nice service and decor.
Food was overpriced and the seating felt cramped inside. We could not have an intimate conversation because of the seating setup. The mac n' cheese was burned and had to be redone. Fries tasted good but such a pain to eat since they were the shoestring variety. Crabcake was very good, but quantity not enough for the price. Bread and desert were also good. Service was fine.
Excellent food, wine and service. Just like it is every time I go here.
Delicious menu everything we had was fresh and amazing. The staff was great and attentive. Great service from start to finish. The tables were a little too close for comfort. I could hear the conversations from the other tables and they could hear mine. I would definately come back.
Clark's always is wonderful and a great dining experience. One of my favorite restaurants in Austin!
The best in Austin
The food was unbelievable. I sat at the bar and watching the chef was really fun - the bartender made great cocktails but was not very attentive and
Only captures half of what I asked for.
Our favorite spot in Austin. Had dozen oysters and a glass of wine. Fabulous, Oysters plump and cold, service terrific. No complaints what so ever.
Clam chowder is amazing! Clark’s never disappoints and would recommend to anyone who enjoys seafood or burgers.
