It was pretty good, just not worth the money. There are so many better places in Portland, if two people are going to spend $140 on dinner. Food is just not THAT good, though the atmosphere is great. I could and have made better steak at home, and the seafood stew just tasted like potato soup, good but not that good. Will go back for drinks only. Better food at MEC, Ned Ludd, Toro Bravo, Mingo, Ox, Ava Genes just to name a few...

We've been to Clarklewis several times over the years. Happy Hour is always a good time to go. We went for lunch on a whim and the service was so slow. There were only two other tables in the restaurant so it was hard to determine why the food should take 45 minutes to arrive. Maybe just a slower day in the kitchen. Once arrived, the food was delicious. The wait staff was very nice and friendly.

This is a tough one for me ! I love this restaurant and go often but, this last time I went was not overly impressed with the very mediocre and odd service and for some reason not articulate this night staff. We had the chef dinner so not cheap the side dishes were high caliber as usual but, the main course was not that good and it was halibut and duck . I will be back but, honestly hoping it was a off night and not what this restaurant has become. Love the ambiance as well and for 220 dollars for 2 people it should have been higher standards on service !

I'd wanted to go here for quite some time, and I was not disappointed. The vibe is open and light. It has that Portland casual feel but white linens and nice enough for a special occasion. The food was great, my only critique was that my pasta was a bit firmer than what I would call al dente. Otherwise, a great experience and I will definitely go back!

Exceptionally good food delivered with friendly, thoughtful service. Attentive staff and a talented bartender make this place a regular go to for good food to be shared with good friends in an atmosphere that promotes intimate conversation.

Horrid server. This place used to be my absolute favorite in the city. Has gone downhill with both food and service, sadly.

Great Easter Brunch. The sever said they will be starting to serve brunch (aside from the holiday) on a regular basis... i'll definitely be checking it out! Food was delish and plated beautifully. The service could have been quicker but we weren't in any rush so it worked well for our group. Great atmosphere and setting.

Omg, Easter Brunch at Clark Lewis will be a new family tradition. Food was outstanding, service excellent, and I loved the extra effort they put forth in decorations to make it a festive occasion. They knocked it out of the park!

This has consistently been our favorite special occasion restaurant. We love doing the chef's tasting menu, and we have always loved just about everything they have given us to try. The service is always outstanding. This time we tried the wine pairing as well, and it was really a wonderful experience.

The service was so delightful and attentive! We did not have a need that went unmet! The food was bland and nothing special. The portions were miniature and presentation overcompensated for the lack of flavour. I had the pork, which was more closely resembled ground steak and my husband had the steak which was three slices of medium meat. Although the service was amazing, we were left unsaitiated and will not return.

We went for Portland Dines Out. They changed the offered desserts, and they were not good at all. One was nearly inedible. The salads, breads, and main course were very good.
The service started out excellent, but as the place filled up it deteriorated. It took a long time to get our check.

Clarklewis is a favorite of mine for Happy Hour. My experience at Portland dining month was not a memorable food experience. Everything was ok, just ok. Edible but nothing I’d order again or anything that would tempt to to come for dinner. I’ll stick with HH at Clarklewis.

Enjoyed the Dining month menu. Only negative was figuring out how to get inside. Food and wine was very good, and value for the price. The regular menu looks enticing. Will return soon.

My husband and I had a fantastic time! Wonderful rustic atmosphere. We both felt the food was delicious. I especially liked the beet salad with the oranges and sliced olives. Many different flavors that all went well together. and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The service was excellent and we definitely will be returning.

Really enjoyed our meal and the service was excellent. Our appetizer and salads were great. I had the lamb Ragu, which was delicious. My husband had the steak, which he didn't care for, but mostly because his typical choice is a filet Mignon and this was simply a different cut. We will definitely be going back! Additionally, I am a corporate trainer and bring groups to Portland for training. I'm always looking for somewhere new to take visitors and ClarkLewis is now on the list!

Starter beet/orange/salsa verde salad was simply exquisite and Sticky Toffee Pudding dessert surprising as well as delicious. The Portland month menu was also an amazing value with entree choices of Lamb, Wild Mushroom Risotto or Salmon. Excellent service. We'll be back for more.

Clarklewis is a delightful special occasion spot. This most recent visit was done during Portland Dining Month 2018, and we had items from that specific menu, but I believe what we had was representative of their menu in general. Potato Leek Soup had a delightful, creamy consistency and deep, rich flavors. I had an entree that I believe was called a Pork Cutlet on this night's menu, and it was one of the best prepared pieces of pork I've ever had - tender, juicy, cooked perfectly, and served with a lovely quinoa / greens / carrots side. Dessert was a blast of chocolate served with creamy, fruity, and seed-based garnishes.
The only glitch in the evening is something I'll mention specifically because I'm writing this for OpenTable. Our reservation was made through OpenTable, and my confirmation email indicated the 7:30 time slot that I had requested. Somehow, I ended up with an 8:00 reservation in the system at clarklewis. I have no idea where in the handoff the mix-up occurred, and the people at clarklewis dealt with the situation wonderfully. They turned out to be able to seat us immediately, and were very gracious about it. I don't know if the folks at OpenTable will be able to look into it at this point, but I'd imagine that time discrepancies could really have an effect on a restaurant's operations.

Visiting from Seattle, we thoroughly enjoyed dining at Clarklewis. The food was delicious and our server was attentive and helpful. We loved the farm to table freshness of the menu items and the creativity of the chef. We will certainly dine there again when in Portland.

We went to Clarklewis for Portland Dining Month. We were generally disappointed in the experience. We carefully searched restaurants and carefully chose those whose menu we thought we would enjoy. We chose Clarklewis based on the menu and their presence on the "Gluten-free" list. Clarklewis advertised a fish dish and a chicken dish which we anticipated ordering. They advertised two desserts that sounded delicious.

When we arrived we learned that Clarklewis had substituted a pork dish for the chicken dish. In addition there was absolutely no sign of the desserts that were on the Portland Dining Month menu. Further, the portions were VERY small, making the meal a poor value in our estimation.

Went for March Dining month and the $33 menu options. We were able to try all the options on this menu due to our group size. Food was ok. Portions small. Our server was friendly and attentive but the time it took to get our food was ridiculous!! Something is wrong in the kitchen. The level of smoke in the dining area was high. We would not go back.

We were excited to visit during Portland Dining month. We were seated even before our reservation time. However, we were seated next to the bar, so noise level was even higher than in the rest of the restaurant. Our server was very attentive and we received our cocktails in a timely manner (expensive cocktails). We ordered a variety of things so my husband and I could try more of the food offerings. The soup was very good and a nice portion. My salad, though very good, was marginal in volume at best (the thinnest sliced beets ever) . Then came the entree. My risotto was a nice portion and very, very good. My husband ordered the salmon, and though very good, it's sad to say you get a larger piece of fish on a Burgerville fish sandwich. There was maybe 1/4 cup of roasted potatoes with it. Now, potatoes are cheap, so a few more would have at least given him something to fill up on . Our dessert offerings were very good and a normal portion for dessert. Overall, food is very good, but even with Portland Dining Month, expensive for the amount of food you get, especially when you walk out hungry. Not a good bang for your buck.
