Really poor service we waited for an hour to get our drink order, we begged for bread our food came all at once, our salad, our appetizer ,and our entree came at the same time. Food was dry and over cooked, the macaroni and cheese was good, two scallops for $22 ????? Ribs were so dry you needed water to get them down, same for the chicken on the caesar salad. Bad experience all around!
Amazing salads and drinks. The lemon pasta was delicious. pizza was good, though a little sour for my taste
Very clean with excellent pizza.
Pasta dish was good but small. We had the angel hair mixed in olive oil.
Service was not good. Understaffed.
Manager walked by multiple times but didn’t offer to refill my partner’s wine glass.
Excellent experience and service. My parents were visiting from Florida and loved the food and ambiance. Highly recommend.
80 minutes after seating we had finished our drinks, no water, no waiter, no wine, nothing. The server paid attention at first, then retook our order after 45 minutes, then never came back. Everything came out lukewarm and haphazard, didn't get the salads we ordered, gave up trying to get dessert. I saw three other tables turn while we were there, drinks sitting at the bar with melting ice because they couldn't get to a table. Great flavors, epic delivery fail. Disappointed.
Great service, great food, great place. Server recommended her favorites on the menu & they were terrific! Could have eaten the carrots for my main course, they were so tasty!
Wonderful after all these years and so happy to be back dining “in” at this lovely spot.
Had reservation well in advance. Tried to sit us in random hallway with a couple of tables and view of homeless camp. Had to ask for bottle of wine we ordered after our salads came because the wine still hadn’t come.. The Caesar salad was drenched with dressing and the food was just average.
Such a pleasure to be back at Clark Lewis. The food was absolutely wonderful and the service so good. We’ll be back soon.
We ordered an appetizer, pizza, and some salads to share. All good. Really slow sadly. Also, no free refills on Diet coke? WTF is that.. Its a fine place, wont be on the top of the list to go back soon.
Tables were nicely spaced. It was a warm day so the garage door windows were open. Service was efficient. Food was excellent. I love the Zediro’s Caesar, which was the best Caesar salad I’ve had in ages. The baby back ribs were superb and the portions were generous.
Unfortunately the service appeared to be in training.
A private party in the back appeared to grind the kitchen to a halt.
The A/c ducts failed in the heat wave.
Pinot bottle we ordered arrived at the table warm-not out of the cellar.
We were there for 2.5 hours and didn’t order dessert.
Not rushing back.
Fantastic food, fantastic service. Love the open kitchen, beautiful bar, big garage doors...and tables are well spaced out, with big ceiling fans for circulation. Only knock to the "ambiance" right now is the area under construction right in front since they are re-doing their patio.
Disappointing in all ways, from entering with no one to greet at the front to the server who took the order, brought the food and never came back. Vegetable mac and cheese had overcooked noodles to the point of mush. Strawberry frisée salad was wilted and flat on the plate. The sausage pizza was limp despite having a pizza oven. There was no continuity, server knew nothing about the wines The lackluster performance from the kitchen to the front of the house, this place needs a real shakedown or shakeup, whatever get it together!
Consistently classic. Great Northwest cuisine and cocktails. Warm and friendly staff with a dash of sass. Go-to spot for date night.
Automatic 15% service fee* added to bill on top of 20% tip = additional 35% on top of overpriced food.
The food was not quite to the level we were expecting. The biggest disappointment, however, wasn’t the food; it was the service. Our waitress was unattentive and super slow. Overall, it was a good experience, just not great—nor did the cost achieve the proper value.
The best dining experience I've had in ages. Ordered the Lamb, which was exceptionally well prepared and plated. The service was outstanding -- Mark was so attentive and professional throughout our meal. Highly recommend for a date, special occasion or client dinner.
Great food and service the train going by was quite loud
Had a great experience on a Friday night and the food was delicious!
clarklewwis is, to us, the epitome of Portland dining. We were so grateful to be back in the dining room. The Spring Menu is superb...the freshness of the vegetables and the ideas deployed in their presentation were tops.
Where else can you go in 2021 and get the Zefiro Caesar Salad? Staff is professional and attentive, drinks are well done, and the kitchen staff delivers great food. Long-time favorite.
Overall the food was very good and reasonably priced (eventhough it is priced fairly high.) They do know what they are doing. Service was excellent, but the noise level is louder than I enjoy.
Always a great experience, I will continue to take my clients.
Great service knowledgeable staff
Certainly one of the top 5 restaurants in Portland. Outstanding dinner-hard to name what was best. Everything was superb. The fresh pea/fava/endive salad with tarragon vinaigrette could be the best salad ever. The curried fettuccine with locally foraged mushrooms and English peas was heavenly. Ate every bit of the fennel sausage brick oven pizza with Buffalo mozzarella & arugula. Service was terrific and the physical space is beautiful, particularly on a warm night with the large industrial doors rolled up. Hope to return soon.
We have not been to Clarklewis in over a year and it was fantastic Friday! Food was perfectly prepared and delicious. Service was wonderful and it was a great day for the open huge garage doors to have the breeze blowing on a warm evening. Overall and very enjoyable evening. We will be going back regularly!
Look at your bill! There's a 15% service charge fee which is not for the waitress/waiter. The restaurant keeps the majority of it. This is BS, because the waitress/waiter only get approximately 5% of the service charge fee. This is ridiculous that I would have to add another 10% to so my servers get a decent tip. I go there every week. Now I am considering not going anymore.
Great Food, beautiful and watmth
Great food in modern/industrial style location. The seating was well spaced apart with lots of ventilation.
I have to admit, clarklewis fell off of our radar for a couple of years but when looking for a spot to spend our anniversary I thought it was time to check back in and I'm so glad we did. The cocktails were beyond our imagination or expectations. I had a balsamic rhubarb gin (although I replaced with vodka) concoction that was unbelievably satisfying and my husband had a reposado cocktail before switching over to an Old Fashioned, he was super happy with both. Oysters, brussel sprouts, saffron linguine, fennel crusted halibut...all spectacular. Dessert was a tiramisu I won't soon forget. Ambiance is a great (albeit a little dark in the back corner), the open garage doors and tall ceilings gave us the extra reassurance we needed to feel safe dining out during COVID. Our server couldn't have been nicer, attentive with gentle check-ins. Overall, a really lovely night. Thank you clarklewis, we won't wait so long to return again.
Some flaws with the service and although some of the dishes were outstanding others underachieved when it could have been easily rectified before got to my table. Overall I'll go again. I just had a very high expectation.
Hi vvega96, We regret and are sorry you didn't have a great time. As you can see from the majority of our reviews we get it right more often than not. I will look into your experience to hopefully find ways to be better in the future. We are challenged with changing capacity due to Covid restrictions. Multnomah County went down to 25% again and it may be that the staff were spread thin that night between outdoor and indoor tables. Again, I'll look into it. Hope to see you again. Thank you.
Came here last minute, was shown to the back patio and felt duped, unlike what the host said it was not better than the front patio. Service was good thru the appetizers but my husband ran out of water (med-large glass) twice and would’ve ordered more cocktails but no server (it was his birthday). Overall started ok and left disappointed. Would’ve tipped less if there was no service charge. Good food though.
Good Morning Anonymous, Thank you for joining us and your review. I apologize that your service was not as expected. We are fortunate to have multiple outdoor spaces during these times of Covid-19 restrictions and reduced capacity, but it does cause us to be spread out and spread thin sometimes. I will look into your experience and find out how we could have been better. Please let us know the next time you are in. We will take great care to turn this around and make you a fan.
Very nice birthday dinner. The beet salad with pickled raisins was delicious!
Service was amazing as well as the food.
Had not been here in years. Excellent in all areas - service, food, ambiance and safety protocols. Surprised at the price, even with the 15% service charge which we were happy to pay ( and add to, to keep this Portland gem going). We shall return soon!
We went for a special occasion. The food was great, a bit loud ... our service was mixed. Initially slow and they seemed overwhelmed - very attentive to some tables and not others... and the subsequently rushed at the end of our seating. Great food, experience lacked.
We were very impressed with everything we ordered, the scallops were delicious with bacon, and a yummy sauce, the pea salad was interesting and very flavorful but the best was the saffron lemon crab linguine, it was amazing, such incredible flavor. The beef tenderloin was the best steak I have had in years, perfectly seared, with the perfect char and saltiness. The Covid-19 safety guidelines were clear and they added a 15% gratuity to the check that was outlined on the menu which I appreciated. The service was perfect! Best meal for our anniversary dinner.
love this restaurant for a fun vibe and delicious and creative food. Service is stellar!
