What a great meal! The service was impeccable. The food was outstanding. The ambience was wonderful. I can't wait to dine here again.
Loved the open air atmosphere
Staff was amazing. Food was unique and fabulous. Lovely setting. A perfect summer night with friends. Thank you so much.
Delightful is the best way to sum it up.
The staff was delightful and the food was superb. The presentation and the wine choice by our server was on point.
Everything we had was great! Service was top notch and we had a great time. Will be back again soon.
The food was delicious, once we received it. There was a long delay between the salads and the main dishes. Our server (who was wonderful) explained there had been an error & apologized. One of us ordered fish cooked well & it was undercooked- the server agreed & returned the dish to be heated more thoroughly. The fish was replaced with a well-cooked & delicious piece (though the accompaniments were not re- heated). We decided to forgo dessert & headed home.
So the food was wonderful, the servers were excellent but apparently there were some issues in the kitchen. We had an early evening seating, so I don’t think the kitchen was over busy when we arrived (though the restaurant was packed when we left).
The food was definitely not worth the price. Very disappointed with the lamb, very fatty and poorly cooked. Unfortunately we will not make any effort to go back. Ambiance was good but if they want to survive their going to have to step up they food prep in a big way.
Excellent menu of daily fresh ingredients; very attentive service from all staff; excellent and creative signature cocktails; good wine selection. Everything I wanted in dinner with friends.
Outstanding apricot glazed baby back ribs and Columbia salmon with leeks. Good wine pairing with an Italian Dolcetto.
Wonderful service, unique menu, delicious food.
It is disappointing that this restaurant has adopted the policy of charging a 16% service fee. The problem with this policy is that many people look at it and think that is the tip for the server, and don’t tip anymore. What it really is, is their attempt to give their employees more money without having to pay taxes. The smart play here would be to simply raise the price five bucks for food. No one Would notice or care. Tips are supposed to be the patrons choice not the restaurant.
Loud train horns blowing over the course of our dinner 3 or more times. Loud and distracting. However friendly knowledgeable wait staff, excellent food, clean sustainable ingredients.
Fabulous experience a ClarkLewis! We were warmly greeted as we walked and sat quickly even though we were a bit late for our reservation. There was some great live music which was unexpected and fabulous. Our cocktails were excellent. We had several items from the menu, all perfectly prepared but our favorites were the scallops (understandably small portion but spectacular), the warm carrot salad, the ribs (surprisingly delicious with a sweet flavorful 'crust') and the lemon angel hair pasta. We also enjoyed selecting wines from the expertly curated wine list. The best part of the experience was the efficient, fantastically charming team. Our server was both professional and fun. The manager/somm was helpful and gracious. The whole experience was unforgettable and perfect. We were celebrating a birthday and are so glad we picked ClarkLewis for the special occasion. We can't wait to go back!
Great food as has been the case for many years now, conceived and presented in unique ways. Sunday evening music was too loud for conversation even with a table as far from the band as possible and with the garage windows open.
One of my favorite restaurants in Portland! Innovative cocktails, great service and imaginative food!
not the best service got drinks 30 mins after and waited for a while to get bread, server felt busy didn’t take the time to talk to us food was cold, went for my birthday wouldn’t go back
I was really looking forward to my second visit to clarklewis for my partner's birthday. We both left very underwhelmed with the overall service. Many staff floating around, not there when you'd like, and then there too quickly to remove plates while we were still finishing bites. There was gum on my seat I didn't notice until it was far too late. Bringing this to their attention, they did remove our cocktails from the bill and offered to pay for dry-cleaning. A nice gesture, but that's an additional errand nobody wants to run.
The lemon scented angel hair pasta was a highlight.
The food was good however the service was a bit off putting. They were understaffed which led to slower service. Additionally our waitress made a few comments about us and the other staff that was rude.
Bad night for the staff
Delicious food and exceptional service! Best meal that we had in our four day visit to Portland!
Fabulous open breeze industrial chic highest quality delicious menu and meal. Attentive waitstaff. Happy vibes. Didn’t want to leave!
Really poor service we waited for an hour to get our drink order, we begged for bread our food came all at once, our salad, our appetizer ,and our entree came at the same time. Food was dry and over cooked, the macaroni and cheese was good, two scallops for $22 ????? Ribs were so dry you needed water to get them down, same for the chicken on the caesar salad. Bad experience all around!
Amazing salads and drinks. The lemon pasta was delicious. pizza was good, though a little sour for my taste
Very clean with excellent pizza.
Pasta dish was good but small. We had the angel hair mixed in olive oil.
Service was not good. Understaffed.
Manager walked by multiple times but didn’t offer to refill my partner’s wine glass.
Excellent experience and service. My parents were visiting from Florida and loved the food and ambiance. Highly recommend.
80 minutes after seating we had finished our drinks, no water, no waiter, no wine, nothing. The server paid attention at first, then retook our order after 45 minutes, then never came back. Everything came out lukewarm and haphazard, didn't get the salads we ordered, gave up trying to get dessert. I saw three other tables turn while we were there, drinks sitting at the bar with melting ice because they couldn't get to a table. Great flavors, epic delivery fail. Disappointed.
Great service, great food, great place. Server recommended her favorites on the menu & they were terrific! Could have eaten the carrots for my main course, they were so tasty!
Wonderful after all these years and so happy to be back dining “in” at this lovely spot.
Had reservation well in advance. Tried to sit us in random hallway with a couple of tables and view of homeless camp. Had to ask for bottle of wine we ordered after our salads came because the wine still hadn’t come.. The Caesar salad was drenched with dressing and the food was just average.
Such a pleasure to be back at Clark Lewis. The food was absolutely wonderful and the service so good. We’ll be back soon.
We ordered an appetizer, pizza, and some salads to share. All good. Really slow sadly. Also, no free refills on Diet coke? WTF is that.. Its a fine place, wont be on the top of the list to go back soon.
Tables were nicely spaced. It was a warm day so the garage door windows were open. Service was efficient. Food was excellent. I love the Zediro’s Caesar, which was the best Caesar salad I’ve had in ages. The baby back ribs were superb and the portions were generous.
Unfortunately the service appeared to be in training.
A private party in the back appeared to grind the kitchen to a halt.
The A/c ducts failed in the heat wave.
Pinot bottle we ordered arrived at the table warm-not out of the cellar.
We were there for 2.5 hours and didn’t order dessert.
Not rushing back.
Fantastic food, fantastic service. Love the open kitchen, beautiful bar, big garage doors...and tables are well spaced out, with big ceiling fans for circulation. Only knock to the "ambiance" right now is the area under construction right in front since they are re-doing their patio.
Disappointing in all ways, from entering with no one to greet at the front to the server who took the order, brought the food and never came back. Vegetable mac and cheese had overcooked noodles to the point of mush. Strawberry frisée salad was wilted and flat on the plate. The sausage pizza was limp despite having a pizza oven. There was no continuity, server knew nothing about the wines The lackluster performance from the kitchen to the front of the house, this place needs a real shakedown or shakeup, whatever get it together!
Consistently classic. Great Northwest cuisine and cocktails. Warm and friendly staff with a dash of sass. Go-to spot for date night.
Automatic 15% service fee* added to bill on top of 20% tip = additional 35% on top of overpriced food.
The food was not quite to the level we were expecting. The biggest disappointment, however, wasn’t the food; it was the service. Our waitress was unattentive and super slow. Overall, it was a good experience, just not great—nor did the cost achieve the proper value.
The best dining experience I've had in ages. Ordered the Lamb, which was exceptionally well prepared and plated. The service was outstanding -- Mark was so attentive and professional throughout our meal. Highly recommend for a date, special occasion or client dinner.
