We had friends visiting from out of town. The dinner was to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Autumn was great. The food was outstanding.

Sometimes farm to table restaurants try too hard to be innovative. I had to look hard to find something on the menu that wasn't off-putting. The spaghetti with lamb Bolognese was wonderful. I managed to avoid lentils, kale, squid ink, and a variety of accompaniments which were trendy and probably well prepared but not necessary.

We had never been to ClarkLewis for dinner before. The waiter was amiable, helpful, and attentive, but not intrusive. He explained the options well and when they arrived at the table they looked tasty and tasted delicious. From the salad to the main courses to the dessert, the dining experience was terrific.

Great ambiance and atmosphere. The food was excellent. I had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly! They made a great cappuccino with my olive oil cake, which was on the savory side, not too sweet at all!

We had an amazing meal- the chef's special. He selected 10 different dishes for the great value of $60 a person. If u do this chef's selection, u shouldn't be in a rush, as it takes awhile to prepare that much food. The drinks were amazing as well. Overall an amazing meal.

The only issue I had with clarklewis is that they have a subpar ventilation system so when I left on nye I smelled like a campfire for the rest of the night, which was gross. Their preset menu was great, but my ravioli dish was not, and nobody asked how our meals were or I would have asked for something else. Good atmosphere, food, and service overall though especially for New Years Eve!!

Clarklewis use to be a top 10 restaurant in Portland and a go to spot for business dinners, anniversaries and date nights. We had our annual family Christmas dinner this year and were a bit disappointed. The menu selection was decent, but when you’re paying this high of prices, expectations are also high and they did not match up. The wine selection was great and we enjoyed our cocktails. The cheese plate as well was nice, as well as the fresh bread. The big miss was the 32oz Tamahawk steak we ordered to share at $135, it was recommended medium rare, we requested medium. What came was well done and quite honestly for the price, the huge bone took away a lot of the actual meat, so the price-value was not close. Our server was nice, the ambience festive with wonderful Christmas trees and lights. They need to update a few things in order for us to come back — the Portland restaurant scene is competitive and there are too many better options.

Our company has been here several times for business lunches. Today was not a good day. Service was annoyingly slow and absent; we even had to ask for water glasses to be refilled. Food didn't knock our socks off this time. Power went out so check-out was delayed - not their fault, of course, but added to the mood of the meal. We may look for another venue for our business lunches.....

We have dined at ClarkLewis many times in the past but not since a year ago. At that time we took an out of town guest to dinner and had good food and service. This time we were there for my wife's birthday (indicated on the reservation, not acknowledged--but that's okay). The room was far from crowded. The server arrived after a moderate delay. The menu was much shorter than in the past and the server seemed to be pushing a tasting menu. We ordered a bottle of wine and then a first course and entrées. The first course (beet salad with chêvre) was fine. Since the choices were limited, we both ordered salmon. What arrived was thoroughly dried out fish on a bed of anyone's guess and a green mystery sauce. The food was more or less edible, given that we were hungry, but certainly not good, especially at the price. The server brought the check without us having asked for it. She brought the dessert menu, seemingly grudgingly, when we asked for it. None of the choices appealed to us, so then we did ask for the check. On it was a charge of $3.93 for SRV or SVC. The server had no clue as to what that was for. As we left we asked the host (manager?) about the charge. He said something about "taking care of the staff," and pointed to the open kitchen behind him and indicated that it was 3%. He could not explain what it was 3% of. When entrées run to $36, it would be nice to know why the staff cannot be paid from the charges for food and drink.

The casual, unhelpful service; the mediocre quality of the food; the very limited menu; the pushing of a not very clearly explained tasting menu at well over $100; and the tacking on of a mystery charge lead us, regretfully, to cross ClarkLewis off the list of restaurants we shall frequent.

Limited but very nice lunch menu--one of the few places where you can find an elegant business lunch in Portland. Servers who have been around awhile know what they're doing and welcome customer requests. Newer servers have been a little rough around the edges, but that's somewhat to be expected.

They need to bring the pork belly burger topping option back--the burger topped with pork belly is extraordinary and one of the reasons we keep coming back. It seems that they don't always order enough to have enough supply to offer it both on the burger and in their pork belly sandwich.

Parking is miserable in the vicinity, so be prepared to drive around for a long time to find any options for parking whatsoever.

We came here for my birthday recently as a party of 8 with friends from out of state and then we were going to meet up for drinks with other people. Apparently, there was a bigger party there and our food did not come out for 2 hours!!! This was completely unacceptable since we were then unable to meet up with the rest of our party since it was so late. I hardly got to taste and enjoy my food since I was so anxious about the time and getting out of there to meet our other party. Our server acknowledged that our food was delayed but would be coming and asked if we wanted more wine or drinks in a way that we thought that it was complimentary for waiting so long. However, when the bill came, his cocktail was not comped . I would not recommend this place if you are hungry and have anywhere else to be, since their kitchen and staff can't handle the demand. Also the restaurant was super smoky and my clothes and hair stank like a campfire. For 2 people, we paid over $120 for a horrible experience. Never again! There are so many other places to eat for this price point and get better service.

Disappointing. I had high hopes for this meal since they have a great reputation. But we left exclaiming that the best two things we had all night was the bread and the wine. We ordered a dish off each of the meal sections and I was bummed that pretty much every dish fell flat either in flavor or in the simple cooking of it. The biggest disappointment was in our mains: our pasta was under cooked, as was our steak which we asked to have cooked medium rare. It came out rare & bloody and was cold after a couple bites. And what's more, it seemed as though the kitchen was backed up on a night that wasn't full. Our dishes took long to get to us and there were considerable waits between courses. Even if I wanted to send a dish back, I was too hungry to commit to the long wait for food again. I don't think I'll be going back or recommending to friends.

Went for a dinner with a girl friend and the food was SO good. Pasta was fresh and homemade. Beet salad and kohlrabi salad were delicious. Server was attentive and knowledgeable. I love the wood smoke smell in the dining room. I have been here a number of times and everytime, the food keeps getting better. The gingerbread dessert was incredible.

The garage/ warehouse setting is cool. Had lamb ragu and roasted salmon along with a skillet dish of sweet potatoes. All three were excellent with lots of unique ingredients. Seasonal greens was sensational and the carrot spice cake is a winner. Small wine list by the glass but otherwise a good selection. Highly recommend.

Celebrated a birthday dinner for 8. Chose to do the Chefs Choice dinner. There was an abundance of food to please every palate. We literally sampled almost everything on the menu! Even the vegetarian and gluten free diners found something delicious to eat. No one went away hungry! Great atmosphere and excellent service.

All in all, this is my favorite Portland restaurant. Fantastic food, great ambiance, friendly, attentive service. Had their family style tasting menu, which I always get when I go there. At $ 60, it is a really good value. Went there for a business dinner and had requested a quiet table, which we got. We were 3 persons and hence got 3 different dishes to share for each course. It's essentially tapas on steroids and quite generous portions. Overall, the food style can be described as Italian inspired NW cuisine. Their pasta course always is a winner. All the veggies and salads were fresh...
The wine list is not super extensive, but well chosen. We worked our way through a progression of 2014 Oregon Pinot Noir, 2007 Brunello di Montecello and then a Washington Blend. All were very high quality, ready to drink wines. Just awesome. We were there for 3 hours, just enjoying the experience.
I'll be back.

We found ClarkLewis by accident while taking a walking tour of Eastside. Took a chance on a reservation and we're completely blown away. Everything from the smells of the wood fire on arrival to the outstanding handcrafted cocktails to the delicious (!!) food we were served was just fantastic. Any place that sources and uses ingredients with the care and attention that ClarkLewis does should be on your short list of places to try.
