Celebrated a birthday dinner for 8. Chose to do the Chefs Choice dinner. There was an abundance of food to please every palate. We literally sampled almost everything on the menu! Even the vegetarian and gluten free diners found something delicious to eat. No one went away hungry! Great atmosphere and excellent service.
Service was subpar at best and our food was wrong and late. Wouldn’t recommend when there are so many other amazing restaurants in the area. We made a mistake of trying to make this our anniversary dinner - we are hoping to make up for it tonight at a different spot.
Very nice OldFashion to start the evening. Land dish was very flavorful and cooked perfectly. Got to taste steak and squid ink pasta and were nicely done. Mushroom
Dish was good but overpowered by cheese and sauce. Desserts we had were nice. Waiter did nice job with wine pairing; gave me half glass of 2 wines! Nice contrast between the 2! Enjoyable evening!!!
The food was delicious. Can be easily shareable. We were a group of three ladies and left with happy tummies. I️ was pleasantly surprised to find they are partnered with 23 Hoyt and blue hour. Perfect for a ladies night out or a date night. Every bite was yummy!
All in all, this is my favorite Portland restaurant. Fantastic food, great ambiance, friendly, attentive service. Had their family style tasting menu, which I always get when I go there. At $ 60, it is a really good value. Went there for a business dinner and had requested a quiet table, which we got. We were 3 persons and hence got 3 different dishes to share for each course. It's essentially tapas on steroids and quite generous portions. Overall, the food style can be described as Italian inspired NW cuisine. Their pasta course always is a winner. All the veggies and salads were fresh...
The wine list is not super extensive, but well chosen. We worked our way through a progression of 2014 Oregon Pinot Noir, 2007 Brunello di Montecello and then a Washington Blend. All were very high quality, ready to drink wines. Just awesome. We were there for 3 hours, just enjoying the experience.
I'll be back.
Wine list was inaccurate, but they provided a discount on a bottle after my first and second choices were not found in their cellar. Food was stellar. It was a little chilly by the garage style window. Service was perfect. A delightful place to celebrate with my daughters for their birthdays.
Food was good, but on one menu item was misrepresented. The menu said it was charred
Brussel sprouts with many other items—(pistachios, etc.)—but none of the brussel sprouts were charred and the waitress never explained why. The waitress hung up a coat for my
95 yr old mother in law, but when we went to retrieve it there was a table in front of it and
Had to have someone stand up so we could reach it. The waitress took a very long time to
Get back to us on the dessert menu—by the time she came back we had decided not to get
A dessert—was just too long. She did apologize. The restaurant was very loud that night,
And conversation was difficult.
We found ClarkLewis by accident while taking a walking tour of Eastside. Took a chance on a reservation and we're completely blown away. Everything from the smells of the wood fire on arrival to the outstanding handcrafted cocktails to the delicious (!!) food we were served was just fantastic. Any place that sources and uses ingredients with the care and attention that ClarkLewis does should be on your short list of places to try.
We've always loved Clarklewis, especially for their fresh and well-prepared pastas and entrees. The spaghetti with pesto tonight was flabby and over sauced in a bland pesto and definitely not al dente. My husband had the duck--it was rubbery rather than the crispy, crackling skin he expected. Both entrees were cool to cold, not piping hot. Hope it was just an off night.
Lost a step? clarklewis has always been a reliable 5-star review for us. Our last few visits something has been off, mostly with the service, but this time the food as well. We left items and didn't even think about taking them home. It's still solid 4-star, but missing just a little something...
It had been several years since I'd last been to clarklewis and I now regret that gap. The service was excellent, super patient too considering done in our group were 45 minutes delayed because if PDX rush hour + rain, the food was delicious, the wine list even by the glass is very good, and the specialty cocktails were spot on.
The food was delicious but it took forever to get out to us. I understand that you have to wait for good food, but the place was not crowded at all and the wait time was extreme. We got there for a 6:45 reservation and didn't end up leaving until around 8:40. We didn't take too long to order. The time to get the drinks felt too long and the time between the appetizers and the main course had to have been about 30 minutes. Other members of my party felt this way as well.
The service was absolutely terrific, and our dinner was delicious. My husband had steak, which he thoroughly enjoyed. I liked the pork but thought it was just a little dry. We both loved the salad and dessert! We live in Seattle but will definitely return on our next visit to Portland.
A wonderful evening out! It's been a while since we've been here, but it is always consistent and always delicious. Exceptional cocktails and exceptional food. We enjoyed the charcuterie, I highly recommend this for a starter. Our entree's were outstanding, but the hit of the night was the mushroom side dish. Absolutely delectable! Our waitress was great and the staff were very attentive to our table needs. We look forward to returning!
Good organic sustainable food. We had the mushrooms as an appetizer. It was only okay. I had the King salmon. It was very good. The waiter comped us a dessert that didn't sound like something any of us would order on the menu, but everybody loved it! Nice atmosphere and quiet.
Second visit here and it was very nice - not fantastic or extra special as I remembered our first visit 3 years ago. The menu has a very wide range of offerings and the food was prepared very well. The house Manhattan was excellent and the wife had bubbles - hard to go wrong there.
I think that I was most disappointed in the rib-eye steak. The preparation was perfect and so was the entire dish. The steak was less than 3/8" thick (10oz - should have been hanging off of both ends of the plate at that thickness) the price they charge was hard to justify.
Be prepared to pay top dollar for what I would call "small" plate entrees.
The preparations and flavors are very hard to beat and definitely worth the trip.
Very unimpressive! Extremely slow service from the kitchen, and no word from our server as to why. Since we were one of three tables, and our order went in quickly, it still took an extraordinary amount of time to receive our food.
Food was not worth the price at all.
Much better food and service elsewhere.
It was okay. Cocktails are better than the food. Food lives up to the "farm to table" claim, but was overpriced for the area/product. Pasta is quite large, definitely get the small unless you are quit hungry. Don't get the seafood pasta - too fishy (salmon roe). Service was okay. We were tourists and the restaurant isn't in the best area - a bit of a run down industrial area out of downtown, not much else around there. You'll have to drive there, and then drive somewhere else if you want to do something afterwards. Much better options elsewhere!
