We went for Portland Dining month. We had an early reservation and were sat in the very back of the restaurant and I was facing a wall for our entire meal. There were several empty tables throughout the restaurant and when I mentioned our seating to the waiter he told me those tables would likely be full by the time we left. They weren't.
I ordered the pasta and the sauce had no flavor. So disappointing!!!
We've ate here before and it has always been a good experience until now.
Great service and food was top flight!
Such a deserving classic all star. Relevant fine dining.
Our waiter was fabulous. He didn't rush us and he offered suggestions. We brought in two bottles of wine and he offered to decanter them. Enjoyed the ambiance. Food was delicious. Liked that there was plenty of parking too. The food presentation was pleasing to the eye and the portions were just right.
We had a wonderful family dinner there celebrating PDX. Dinning month. Very accommodating and the best service.
Went for Portland Dining Month with a group of four. Great service and food. Restaurant was louder than expected so we had to make an effort to talk loudly to hear each other. Good experience overall. Great value for dining month.
I was looking forward to enjoying a dinner with a friend. What happened was waiting for 10 minutes for a table that had sat empty since before I arrived. Then I was seated, I ordered a beer, my friend arrived, he ordered a drink, and we both waited 15 minutes for our beverages. The salmon was undercooked and was more like warm sushi. Wait staff was polite, but elusive when we needed anything. It was a total bummer. I'll go back sometime, I hope it's better than this experience.
Dessert was A+
Great service and food
We didn’t feel that the menu was InSync with the cocktail offerings. Felt a little rushed we went early because I wanted to get 1000 extra points on the OpenTable but it felt like we were being rushed quite a bit. Food was OK. Nothing to write home about
Love Clark Lewis. Each time we are here the product they are putting out gets better. Train wizzing by, this place feels like a secret in the Water Ave area. Walking in, you see a great open kitchen, watching the chefs is really fun. Ordered peach and tomato salad plus the lamb with that smoked feta!! So delicious. Will be back again soon.
We arrived around 6:00 when it was super busy but they were able to handle us, a large group from out of town. Food was great and service was two people for the large table, which we thought was smart. Manager John was a delightful energy. Thank you!
Clark Lewis dazzled and never seemed frazzled. Both my husband and I are big fans of Bluehour and were recommended dining at Clark Lewis by many friends. We finally have given it a shot and were impressed from start to finish. Lovely young man serving us made very astute choices with us, as we were trying not to be boring. Left feeling full and happy. Yes, we would recommend to our friends.
It seems that this place is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots in East Portland. Seems like every time I go, there is a good scene, it's busy but not obnoxious, and the open kitchen creates a sense of togetherness which I love in a restaurant. The district itself is coming up. Tents and shanty houses along the drive, then a good few blocks leading to OMSI are a foodie paradise. I believe Clark Lewis was one of the first to dare be along Water Ave and I am glad they did because now it's a boppin' neighborhood. Enjoyed the happy hour menu, which is well priced cheeses, salads, and their eventual burger. We both enjoyed that burger to death. Will be back for dinner in the future....
Sad… Tagliatelle was undercooked… Allergic to mushrooms server suggested it might be the cooks fault LOL… Redeeming quality it was my birthday and they did give me free dessert thank you so much hoping it’ll be better in the future
I like to make reservations for lunch at 11:30am because it's almost always quieter, to beat the rush. There were only a few other tables seated when we got there, and yet the service just felt incredibly slow. Just not sure why the service seemed so slow when there were so few other people there. It even seemed to take like 10-15 minutes to get a cup of tea, that's odd. And they didn't ask if we wanted dessert, if we were there for a special occasion, etc. (we were there for a colleague's birthday). Overall, would have expected way better service at such a quiet restaurant. Everyone was very happy with their food though, I will say that.
We ate here without a reservation for Valentines Day and liked it so much we had to come back. Clark & Lewis is a very nice restaurant with a big menu and lots to choose from. it would seem that this place gets very packed on the weekends and just normal busy during the week. We were there tonight for my birthday and had a great time. I enjoyed the growers beets (so planty and fresh!) and their salmon with purple cabbage. My two friends also really enojyed their steak and the cauliflower dish. Most of all, the wine list had us hanging out for just about an hour more than we ate, just enjoying the night. Based on choices alone, we will be back.
Dimly lit, sexy vibe, fun manager, cute hostess, great food. What else is there? I heard a train go by... A TRAIN??? Romantic. I will be back. Their pastas are to die for.
