Food is amazing!!!
Superb, as usual, can always count on a perfectly delicious meal at Clark Lewis!!!
Lovely night celebrating birthday. - food and service great
Great tasting menu. Wonderful service and the ambience can't be beat. I will come back in second!
Nice food (a bit overpriced) and a great service. We had a very nice time, but we are not likely to go back.
Hi Anonymous! Thank you for the 4 star review! We are glad you enjoyed yourself. Keep in mind, given the farm to table approach, that our menu changes often. Visit us again, especially in the different seasons, your food experience will be different in fall, winter, spring, summer. We hope to see you again. Thank you!
Food and service were beyond amazing. We will definitely go back when in portland
We decided to try this place again... last time wasn't so good. Today we were seated promptly and the service was very good. The meals were on time and tasty as was the awesome desert.
Hi Datenight! Thank you for visiting us. Happy we redeemed ourselves! Looking forward to seeing you again.
Delicious and amazing service
I hosted a group of 10 business guests from out of town here to showcase Portland‘s finest local cuisine. The food was exceptional as always. Service was lovely. One small detail to know is that there is no air conditioning here and we happen to pick the very hottest day of the summer to come. So that was the only downside but of course nothing that they could control.
Our guests in particular raved about the Cauliflower. The Cauliflower! Who can make cauliflower that people rave about? I loved everything I had, but the melon gazpacho with coconut milk on such a warm day was absolutely fabulous. I love the creativity.
We went to the restaurant on hottest day in Portland, no air conditioning. The room has several giant fans with fekless result. The peach salad is superb, but pork tends to be on the fatty side.
Hi JinL! Thank you for the review. We do actually have air conditioning. It unfortunately couldn't keep up with the heat that day. We have called to have it serviced to see if it could have issue. We apologize we couldn't make the visit more comfortable. I will discuss with chef the butchering of the pork to see if he can trim a bit more fat off the cut. The fat is often much of the flavor but totally understand wanting less of it :) Thank you for visiting us!
The food was exquisite! We particularly enjoyed the Rib Eye. The ambiance was both rustic and modern. Very pleasant experience overall.
Service was just ok. The food quality didn’t hit the mark. Fish was dry and steak was tough.
Great summer evening in Portland with garage doors open. Food very good, nice choices and options. Excellent options for wine and beer. Loved our server. Cheese Cake outstand for dessert.
The reserved table was ready when we arrived, and the cocktail/drink menu options were good. Service was initially good through ordering, but then our Server went missing for a LONG time. Tables that arrived after us were served with first courses, and we had not even gotten bread yet, then he brought everything at once -- starters and entrees.
The food is unusual and good, but the mediocre service really detracted from this experience. I'd eaten there 2x before with better, not stellar service.
Too bad, but there are other places with both great food & service for the price.
Hi PDXmale! You are right! The service you describe sounds terrible. We are so sorry! I will look into this day to see if something unusual was happening with staffing. What you describe is absolutely not typical. We hope you will give us another try. There must have been an issue that evening that affected service greatly. Please let us know next time you visit. We would love to do something special for you. Thank you.
First Date dining and couldn’t have gone better!
Service and staff were incredible! However 3 of our corporate guests ordered the lamb and unfortunately it was worst lamb they each had ever had. Staff provided N/C the 3 lamb entrees -- Thankyou
Morning RickK, We apologize your group didn't enjoy the lamb dishes. We get the lamb from a local farmer. They are raised naturally, grazing, etc and due to that have some variation in the product that comes to us. Some lean, some fatty. In any case, we will always switch items out you are not enjoying. We hope to see you again.
Excellent with the sole exception of the person who seated us originally, she was unhelpful when we said that we did not want to sit by the open roll up doors as it was somewhat breezy. Suggest that, for the dinner hours, the roll ups need to be closed since there was a fair bit of noise from rush hour traffic. Waiter was excellent, food was delightful as always. Please keep the Fuedi San Gregorio Italian white wines, that's what keeps me coming back!
Everything was good, but the service was slow. Granted, we were a big group.
Amazing food and service. Quiet enough for a business meal.
Lamb Ragout Pasta was my favorite.
I remember this restaurant as one of the best. We went for an anniversary dinner and were disappointed to not have excellent food and service. The doors were open and our seats were lovely on a warm summer evening. The melon/avocado gazpacho was fabulous, setting us up for happy anticipation of the meal to come. I had king salmon which was tasty but poorly displayed. My partner had steak, again tasty but lacked presentation appeal. The waiter was playful, but overly so. Overall, it wasn't the excellent experience we had anticipated. Nothing was bad, just not excellent. We were there on a Saturday night and only 10% of the tables were filled. I guess others are feeling similar - not the place it once was. Sad.
Hi Bert! August 17th, when you visited, the city was basically under lockdown due to ProudBoys&Antifa riots happening on the waterfront. We hesitated opening, but decided to do so anyway. Some staff couldn't make it in and the news was telling everyone to stay away. Most guests cancelled reservations and that is why you experienced an empty restaurant. A lack of staff and such a charged up night in the city is likely why your experience was lacking. We apologize for the strange Portland night.
Excellent food and an all around fantastic experience!
Amazing service , Food was perfect and fresh.
Little noisy with cars along Water Ave. and train passing. Otherwise, really enjoyed the lunch offerings.
Great food but service was lacking as our server had gotten slammed right when we were seated so we had a long wait on him.
Great happy hr and dinner, drinks are wonderful and food was great too!
Wonderful service. Wonderful wine and cocktail selection. Food was fantastic. Farm to table with a bow tie on it.
Very accommodating to vegan diners. Love that! Love the ambiance and the service was excellent.
That train is EPIC! Every hour or so, due to CL being in the district a train will go by and honestly if it didn't happen naturally, I would ask that it be pumped on their Pandora. Love the vibe here, really calm and sexy, no typical Portland SNOOT, a lot of great suggestions and small plates. We didn't order entrees but will def get them next time. Kind of a small bites and apps night with drinks, perfect for that.
Only place on Water to get a decent glass of wine (and then some!). Dinner was very good, was able to walk to the docks afterward and catch the sunset.
Loved our visit to Clark Lewis. That Frisee Salad is giant and very delicious. Could have used a little more sweet potato under that lovely pork chop but wanting more is always a good sign! Excellent service at the bar, they seemed to be training a new guy who was super nice and made a really good drink. Delicious warm bread too! Will be back.
This restaurant has a very limited menu but the food, once we received it, was good. The service was poor in my opinion - very slow. This included not being able to place our order in a timely manor and time getting the food once ordered was very lengthy. It wasn’t very busy so there was really no good reason for any of the delay. Liked the ambience and industrial look of the place. Parking is an issue.
My husband and I did the tasting menu. It was a TON of food. Everything was delicious and it was such a great way to try a bit of everything they had to offer. We've been wanting to try this place for a while, but I'd held off because of the $$$ on Open Table. I was pleasantly surprised by how much food we got for our $$$. We also had two bottles of fantastic red wine. Probably more than we needed, but we were celebrating :)
The food was very good. I had steak and asked for medium and got medium rare. I was gonna say something but I had a few bites and it was amazing. The dessert was a Scoop and a Shot and it was yummy. The coffee after dinner was very well made. Please go and try it out.
Great food. Our waiter was a bit aloof and was pushy with serving the wine from a bottle we ordered. One of my pet peeves.
I might recommend this restaurant or come back if i understood why they had no Pork, Shrimp, Scallops. the only protein my guests and myself could get was chicken. I understand that occasionally restaurants are out of an item but, it seemed they didn't get their delivery that day 7/25/19, or the refrigerator went down? no explanation given just no on every choice we wanted. otherwise the food was excellent. not optimal for my business lunch.
celebrated a Birthday with friends.
Dinner was excellent.
Our daughter was married at clarklewis last November which was a fabulous occasion,
so clarklewis is a special place for us.
Wonderful food, wonderful service. High end food in a relaxed atmosphere. The beet and potato appetizer was incredible.
My first time there. It was a wonderful meal, one of the best I’ve had in Portland for a long time. And I like a lot of Portland restaurants.
