Slow service. We got the appetizers and main dishes at the same time. By the time we finished the appetizer the food was cold. We ordered a medium rare burger and we got back a well done almost Burned burger. Manager asked me to cut it in half so he could see if I was right... which I was.. very rude. Cocktails were mediocre but at least they had the decency of only charging one. Avoid if possible, we landed there because it was the only one with availability and now we get why.
Food was burnt, service was slow . Ended up leaving . Don’t waste your time or money go to Ruth Chris down The street !
Eli, our waiter, provided excellent service to our group celebrating a birthday for one of us. He was friendly, attentive and patient considering it was a busy night. Our food was good and tasty. While taking our drink order, we informed him that we would not be drinking alcohol. So he recommended non-alcoholic beverages which we ordered and tasted delicious. The outstanding rating I am providing is mainly due to Eli’s excellent service. Thank you Eli.
We ate on the outdoor patio which faces San Diego Bay so we had a lovely view, watched the sunset and saw the city light up. We shared the Top Sirloin with grilled shrimp, baked beans and shoestring fries.
Steak was under cooked and every bite had unchewable sinew but great flavor. Shrimp, fries and beans were delicious.
The Pecan Caramel Butter Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream is too die for!
Our Server was very personable and polite but he delivered our meal and dessert with no silverware.
We had to wait several minutes before he brought it and we could eat.
A wonderful spot for dinner! We ate during sunset and watched the lights of the city turn on, just beautiful! Service & food were perfect.
Labor Day dinner w famliy
Service was amazing. Bring your big appetite. Portions are big.
I have never had a bad restaurant in San Diego until I "ate" here. They couldn't make margaritas to save their lives. Had 2 different ones and each one was extremely watered down and it tasted like it was 75% water and had to send it back. I got a strawberry basil margarita and the tequila must've been well and not hornitos but honestly, they were both disgusting. The Brussels sprouts were really bad as they tasted like burnt oil and the mac and cheese was honestly worse than krafts you get at the supermarket. I'm honestly, so disappointed as I love their steak sauce for barbeque. Will never waste $150 for 2 people for such a lousy meal and poor quality. The server however was really attentive and well done. I tipped him well as it must be embarrassing to be subjected to this.
We had been to another Claim Jumper and it wasn’t bad so we decided on this one as it was convenient. That was an absolute mistake. I ordered a ribeye steak and my girlfriend ordered a lobster blt and we had ordered the appetizer platter. Server was nice enough, but after a bit the appetizer arrived and followed by maybe 5 minutes the main course showed up. It was absolutely the worst grey colored flavorless piece of and I use the term loosely steak I’ve ever had. Her lobster blt was a soggy no flavor mess. Do yourself a favor save the money and go anywhere but here
We came in for my boyfriends birthday, we came from out of town and it was an amazing experience. The food was amazing and the service here was incredible.
It took forever for our server to come and great us. The restaurant was not busy. The manager did not great us, no one got us water for over 15 mins. Other tables where seated and orders where taken before we even saw our waiter.
A great place for happy hour before the Padres game or the Symphony. Food and drinks are good and reasonably priced.
Great location across from San Diego Harbor. Great view.
Nice atmosphere, neat and clean. Generous portions.
Even with a reservation we waited for table for 35 min. Then it took forever to get our food and it was all cold and was not good at all. For the price was definitely not worth it
We arrived for our reservation and was quickly seated. The restaurant was semi busy. I took the waiter 20min arrive at our table to greet us and take our drink order. By that time we already knew what we wanted for dinner. We ordered our drinks, appetizer and entrees. It took 45 min for the appetizer to arrive and with only a few chips for the artichoke dip. The waiter did apologize and stated the kitchen got busy due to the rush that came in. There was a couple large groups but we placed our order prior to their order as we could hear when they were ordering. Anyway the food came and the baked potato was slightly warm and the sides were two mini bowls. It took us a total of 2hrs to finish dinner! We are Claim Jumper fans and have not had any issues at other locations. This location was just horrible. Anniversary dinner was disappointing and probably should have gone to Cheesecake Factory!
Restaurant was poorly staffed. From the time we ordered It took about one hour and 15 to get our meal. They were not at capacity. The veggies were undercooked. The steak was rare when it was ordered as medium well. Was the worst date night in 30 years. Restaurant manager was conciliatory, but not pleasant. Was clear they were having a terrible night too.
Edna was our waitress and she was Fabulous. We have a choice of many restaurants to go to tonight but we are contemplating going back to claim jumper just to dine with her again. Thank you Edna😊
Many gluten friendly options on the menu made this a great place for our family to enjoy a good evening out!
The food is always consistently good. Service was great!
1. 3PM reservation on. Friday and from order to food was very slow. 6 people.
2. Fry orders were cold when brought to the table.
3. Used dishes stayed on the table through dessert. Should have been cleared long before dessert.
4. Chocolate cake was very dry.
Conclusion- With the added 3% service charge plus tip I expected much better. Many choices downtown and on the bay. Depending on your response will determine if our family and friends return.
Had fond memories of the great food at CJ from a previous visit so chose as a location for our team dinner. We all ordered Tri-tips or Tri-tips w/ mushroom gravy. It was pretty inedible, undercooked by a lot (rare rare!) and tough. Chicken was dried out on the meals with chicken. Overall extremely disappointing especially after I talked it up to the team.
Excellent food and good service. The meat are amazing.
Great spot for lunch. Are outside. Great breeze. The meatloaf sandwich was the beat I have had. Great casual stop after checking out the Midway museum or waterfront.
We dined for a late lunch (after normal lunch hours) and the service was extremely slow. While the server was polite it took us 17 minutes after we were seated before our drink order was even taken and 33 minutes after we were seated before we received our drinks. We saw a few other tables who were not as patient get up and leave during the course of our meal due to similar wait times.
Rated the worst because despite making reservations for party of 9 for a special occasion and arriving over 30 mins early we drove around for over an HOUR trying to find parking. They need to have designated parking if they want happy customers. NEVER AGAIN!
Great food with unique tastes, very friendly and attentive staff, outdoor seating was quiet (other than when loud cars or large motorcycle brigades went by!) This is the type of place you want to come back to for sure. Lots of variety and unique options
We sat outside on the patio and it was great. Good lunch spot.
I should have headed the warning in other reviews. So so food that we waiting an hour and a half for. We had apologies every 10 mins but no food.
We were staying at the Intercontinental a few blocks away. I saw this on Open Table and decided to give it a shot. We had a dinner reservation, but I changed it to a late lunch time instead. We just wanted enough to fill up so we could skip a formal dinner and enjoy the club lounge at our hotel. Ryan H was our server per the receipt and did a decent job. He seemed a bit new but not sure. I forgot to ask him for the house wifi password and asked another worker who told me the old one and then came by with a new one, but I never got that one to work so I just gave up! We both just drank water. The prices seemed a bit high for a "chain restaurant", but the food we ordered filled us up, mainly because of the excess carbs. I had the chicken pot pie, which did seem like it was made on-site with crust overflowing the edge and lining the bottom of the bowl. There was a good amount of white chicken meat. I added fries as my side-my mistake as I should have gotten something a bit less starchy. Other half had fish & chips which were decent, better than a national fish chain known for its "bones". There was a 3% surcharge, which we noticed at other San Diego restaurants, supposedly to cover their increased costs (wages & food??). I doubt I would go back here if in the area. I found that better deals could be found a few blocks away from the harbor.
By the time I received my food the fish and chips were cold and gummy. Trying to get service was horrible. Would not recommend
Great family dinner and great quality food and location
Food was tremendous, atmosphere for the outdoor seating was wonderful. Service was slow, but waitress did everything she could, seemed short staffed like everywhere right now. Overall a great family dinner
Great service and really god food. I wish I was in town for a bit longer to try more things off the menu!
The server was very friendly and offered her pens so our kids could draw since they had no crayons for the kids. We’re definitely coming back.
We had reservations at 6:30 for 4 people. We were seated promptly. 30 minutes later the waitress took our drink order. We received our drinks at 7:15, except one. “Oh we’re out of that.” It was a small bottle of Prosecco. They had another brand which was agreed upon, but it was another 10 minutes before it arrived and that was only after reminding the waitress we were waiting on the drink. One person ordered a margarita specifically because it was described as having a spicy rim. It was plain salt. We got another “oh ya, we’re out of that.”
During the entire experience the waitress made comments about how she was new and kept blaming everything on everyone else. She seemed to think it was entertaining, but we found it annoying.
The food was pretty good though.
Everything was terrible. We were sat 20 minutes after our reservation at a dirty table and given uncooked food.
Horrible service over a 3 day period. But this particular visit for breakfast, we attempted to check in but the guy talked over me, asked how many, shoved a couple menus into my hand and told us to sit anywhere. When it became obvious that I hadn’t been checked in, I asked him again to check me in. He said he didn’t know how. I asked for a manager. He said he’d try to get one. He then asked me how to get checked in. I told him “how would I know? Nobody’s every asked me that or been unable to check me in”. I told him that I get dinged as a no-show if I’m not checked in. He walked away, loudly mimicking me “Oh, I’ll get dinged for no show”. I saw him return to the hostess desk, heard clicking and a minute later got an email that I’d been checked in. That’s not all: this place consistently fails to provide setups (utensils) prior to food delivery. It happened each of our visits. Today, the table across from us also needed to ask for utensils and watched their food cool as they waited for them to arrive. We never saw our server after ordering. Someone else brought our food and someone else altogether walked buy, placed the check on the table, and said “I’m your cashier” as I stared at her back as we walked away. On our first visit this trip, an omelet delivered on a plate whose rim was caked with dried-on egg yolk. Avoid this dive. Rather than acting like it’s a privilege to have a job, they treat their guests as though should feel privileged to be mistreated by lazy, rude staff.
