Claim Jumper - San Diego - Bayside
We pretty much had to keep asking for service. Simple things such as ‘can we have water’, ‘can we have bread’’, waiting 10 minutes for a drink after asking for a Sprite. We complained to the manager who offered us a slice of cake. We declined because the point of lodging a complaint is not to get something free, but to get better service. The server apologized also and told us he was busy with a large party. However, although we were a small party, we will never become a large party of you can’t even provide us service when our party isn’t so large. Very disappointed with this visit.
OUTSTANDING! I went for lunch but also took food to go. I had the lightly fried zucchini sticks for an appetizer. They were so fresh, and the ranch dressing was homemade heaven. My entree was chicken pot pie. It was so creamy and flavorful. The crust was just right as well. I took the tri-tip dip with a side of slaw for go. I reheated it the next day in foil for lunch. Still one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. I must admit that I had low expectations when I walked in because I’m not much for chain restaurants. This place exceeded my expectations in every way. Enjoy!
Very mediocre experience. Food is rather cafeteria-caliber, service was lackluster at best, and the ambiance is very tired.
Our steak was not cooked correctly or as asked, some of the food came out cold, some food was forgotten (brought out after being reminded). The appetizers, salad, and drinks were good. Server was nice, but not the most attentive, and it wasn't very busy when we were there. We would return, but only for appetizers and drinks.
The waiter seemed very distracted, and another staff was slow to step up and help. It got to the point the manager had to come by and apologized for the fact we were being neglected. One of our entrees was so late coming out; the manager comped it as a courtesy. The food was decent but not exceptional. Was not on par with other Claim Jumper restaurants we have visited. Landry’s sold off this part of their business, and this might be why.
sat outside. view obstructed due to construction. ordered ribs. ribs were not hot. leads me to believe possible frozen and then defrost. pity, we went for birthday.
Waiter could not remember food order. Several items incorrect. He seemed more interested in presenting himself and talking loudly. Ordered drinks and he seemed confused on simple order. Did bring correct drinks so got that right.
Awful....this place needs Restaurant Impossible!!
Terrible service, received food before drinks, coconut shrimp were literally burnt ....... who would even bring that to a table?? Asked manager for the drinks and he could care less. Entrees were as good as microwave food. After a long day it was a total disappointment
Fish and chips with fried shrimp was great....but my food sat in the warming window for nearly 10 minutes.
Eventually my wife's salmon was ready, but it had no flavor to it. Decided not to eat it. Manager came by and we discussed our concerns. He was very receptive and helpful. He comped us 2 excellent desserts, the chocolate brownie and a salted caramel pecan cake. Very good. This was our first time eating at Claim Jumper.
Server was scarce. Service was slow. Manager stepped in and offered free dessert, but then they said they were out of there signature chocolate cake
We went for our Anniversary with our kids. We waited a bit for the food to arrive after ordering. Ok it’s not that busy but the food will be worth the wait. The steak I order was way undercooked and cold. My daughter was over cooked with to much gristle. Not what we expected from claim jumper. Use to go all the time but after this probably not so much.
The food and service were great. The volume level of the recorded music was a bit too loud for us. Other than that no complaints. It was our 50th Anniversary dinner.
the steak was WAY over cooked, very thin piece of meat (filet mignon). the mac & cheese had NO cheese in it. the kitchen was extremely slow and it wasnt that busy. the waiter never came by to check on me after my food finally arrived. dont know if i will be back or not. all of my previous trips to claimjumpers have been truly amazing, this visit sucked so bad, that i just dont know when i will return
Food was not that good. Denny's was better.
Let me start off by saying this was on 4th of July so it was very busy and we were a party of 9. We had a reservation and arrived right at our reservation time it took about 10-15 from when I checked in to the time we were actually seated. Once seated it took about 10 minutes for someone to come take our drink and food orders. After that it took about another 15 minutes before we actually received all of our drinks. It took close to 45 minutes to get our food and our appetizer came at the end of our meal. My husband’s food was cold and mine was lukewarm. I had to remind the server about my daughter’s dessert. Our server was great and I know none of it was his fault. The manager did comp our appetizer and a dessert. Hopefully their kitchen timing is better on a non holiday.
Service was great, food was ok. The Asian chicken salad didn’t have much flavor. Buffalo wings were dry, had to ask for side of buffalo sauce. Clam Chowder soup was not that tasty. Seemed like it sat all day, not fresh. Probably won’t go back.
We went there at sunset. It was an amazing experience. The staff was very accommodating. We had a large group and requested outdoor seating. They seated us within 5 minutes. The food was also very delicious. There cheesecake was a great way to end the meal. Highly recommend this restaurant.
This restaurant is nothing like the Carmel Mountain restaurant - the portions were small compared to Carmel Mountain. Very noisy. I had salmon and it was a small piece and was dry, the side I ordered was Ceasar salad and it was a really small portion, I got used to your nice size salads from the past. the other side was the Rice pilaf and they gave me way to much of that which I didn't Finish. the fish and Chips looked fine and good proportions our guests were happy with that.
Went with a big group (family) and enjoyed it. Accommodated the kids well.
Service was slow and food was alright. I’ve been to better locations of this restaurant. I definitely would recommend the chain, but not this particular location.
The place was dirty, tables dirty, etc. The food was very salty and the menu choices really reduced compared to prior visits. I looked for old favorites and they did not pop out if they were on the menu. I did not see them. My sole reason for visiting was because I thought they were a part of Landry Select Club, of which I was told they were no longer participating. Also, we were seated by the patio door of which everyone used it to come in and out of the kitchen to the patio or restroom. So lots of traffic for the tables that were in that line of direction. Server was very slow although it was not very busy that I could tell. Had to ask for 1 refill of ice tea 3 times before it arrived. All in all, spend your money elsewhere when in San Diego.
I called ahead to make sure they had a dish called the Drunken Chicken, the man I spoke with on the phone said they could make it for me. Of course when we got there they said they couldn't. The main reason I went there was for that dish so it was very disappointing. The manager offered a free desert which was nice but I came for the chicken. The service was ok, I think the waiter was a little overwhelmed . It was very loud and crowded which was to be expected for a sat night I guess.
We not only had great food and exceptional service, it was breezy and they gladly moved us further inside so my handicap mother in law would be more comfortable. That alone was priceless!!
Filling portions and took reservations during a busy weekend.
Took my wife there for mother’s day and service was excellent! The view on harbor drive was amazing. Great venue for any occasion.
It’s a “Claim Jumper” it is casual chain restaurant food. For what it is it’s not bad, not great...good place to take the grandparents.
Service was slow, they would not accept the parent companies gift card (landry’s) then credit card machine broke down.
Food was great, the service was good. They ran out of the pineapple cider beer and Clamato for a mix drink was out
The staff were not helpful and pretty rude. We had booked a reservation for a large party and the hostess knew nothing about it. Our table was not ready and then the service was horrible. Will never return.
Celebrated our son’s graduation from Marine boot camp, had Aaron as our server and he hit it out of the park. He was great, funny and helpful. He made our special occasion perfect. FYI - our reservation was at 4, we showed early around 2 and were seated outside. Definitely will be back when we are in San Diego.
