Claim Jumper - Reno
Always comfortable and down home feel with something for everyone. Lots of choices and big portions. Never have been disappointed.
Seated immediately, quiet booth! Drinks and dinner arrived quickly! Filet steak was excellent!
My Father and I were having dinner at The Claim Jumper in Reno and the service was impeccable. The waiter was very attentive, came by frequently to see how our food was and if there was anything we needed. We will definitely be dining there, again, in the near future.
Hadn’t been here in almost a year and was excited to have a nice dinner. Food was nothing like it use to be. As my husband said he would’ve rather had McDonald’s. Hot dishes were all cold and tasted like they had been frozen for awhile. I had the chicken salad (didn’t think it could be messed up) and it was bland and soggy. Not to mention $16! We were very disappointed. The waiter was great and very punctual. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to make up for the horrible food.
Front service was not so good , we had reservation and still took like 25min just to get seated but after that our server was great! He's such a great happy guy! He was our server for my mom's birthday dinner and today mines and I'm glad we got him! Saied keep up the good work!(:
Launie is an excellent server and knowledgeable about the menu, not only hot entrées but the wine list as well. Steak was perfectly served for texture and grill time. Portions were right though dessert can be overwhelming for less than 3 people! 👍🏻
The waiter was very nice and came over to our table, frequently, to see if we needed anything. We ordered New England Clam Chowder, but, he found out later, they were out of New England Clam Chowder. So, he took that off our bill and gave us each a free dessert. The food was excellent, as it always is, every time we go to Claim Jumper. We will definitely be going there in the near future.
We went to celebrate our last day at a long softball tournament. I reserved for 11 in advance on the app. Arrived and was seated by nice staff. Place was mostly empty. That’s where things went bad. I asked if they had “good” homemade ranch dressing. I was told that yes, they did. My friends husband ordered clam chowder and three of us ordered salads. The ranch was definitely not home made, which meant I didn’t touch the salad.... I find bottled ranch to be gross. The clam chowder was so salty my friend’s husband returned it almost untouched. Two of us ordered steaks. One was ordered well done, one was ordered medium rare. The well done steak came medium rare and the filet that was ordered medium came barely cooked at all. We asked that they be taken back, as the rare one was inedible and the medium one was way too pink for that person’s taste. The helpful waitress offered to take the steaks back, which was fine. I then struggled to eat my lukewarm baked potato... which wasn’t even warm enough to melt the hunk of butter on it. Meanwhile here comes the steaks... which instead of being redone had apparently just been heated up. They were in no way cooked any further than they were ten minutes prior. They were just warmed up.... and now looked all unappealing as they had been cut up and just microwaved or put under a heat lamp- I’m not sure what they did but it was just awful. So to make a long story short, dinner was a failure. Yes, the steaks were taken off the checks- but we were really disappointed in the entire visit. I had mentioned in my reservation that it was a special occasion, yet nothing was mentioned... and the food was mediocre at best. Several of our party left hungry because the food had gotten sent back and they just decided to grab fast food after leaving. Just pitiful. We should have went to Outback, but since we came from out of state and were on a special trip we figured we should try something local we can’t get at home.
We were meeting friends and wanted to catch up, so were pleased it wasn't a crowded night (Monday) and we could delay ordering and linger later. It was very easy to have a conversation, as the noise level was low. Service was good, very accommodating. The food was good (nice variety on menu), but too salty for me, at least (clam chowder and some kind of chicken in a sauce over mashed potatoes). Portions were very generous. Giant portion of birthday chocolate cake to be shared was a nice surprise. I liked the calory counts for each entree, too--very helpful to a diabetic.
This was a family get together. Everyone in our family has different tastes and requirements and the Claim Jumpers menu accommodated everyone. It was the perfect place for our gathering. Our waiter couldn’t have been more pleasant, helpful and responsive to our requests. A great evening enjoyed by all.
Service was excellent. Place is a bit pricey, but probably in line with other Reno establishments. The decor was great. I would go back if we are ever in area again.
I had a Cobb salad. It was lacking the chicken. When I asked my server, he quickly brought ice cold chicken to me. It was eatable. My husband had ribs. They were good. This is a restaurant that prides itself on quality not quality.
Interesting to find out now that the Claim Jumper chain has been bought out and no longer a member of the Landry Select Club when the change over happened 3 months before. Not a way to provide customer confidence. It's a chain restaurant so you can't expect too much, but it's still good overall if you are not too particular about the menu. It was a busy day, so we ended up eating at the bar which was wide open.
Holly was an incredible server! We enjoyed her attitude, professionalism and attentiveness to our party. We always enjoy the quality of food at Claim Jumper.
Large portions and relatively quiet. just what I needed.
The main dining area was blocked off for cleaning, so we sat in the bar area where the tables are rather small. We had an appetizer platter and bone-in rib eye steaks for our entrees, and the food was cooked perfectly. Our server was very attentive without being too smothering.
The good was good...something for every size appetite and taste. The service was excellent!
the experience was fine! however, your reservation operation sucks!! the person at the entrance counter said there was no record of my reservation. WHY? You contacted me twice before the date to confirm. I confirmed both times. YOU DROPPED THE BALL.
You might as well delete this supposed service as it is not, it is more of a bothersome nuisance. I will probably go to Olive Garden in the future, it is across the street from your restaurant in REno, and even though they don't take reservations at least i know i don't have to bother with one that is not functional.
My family and I are regulars here for the big tables and easy accessibility.....we’ve always enjoyed aspect off this restaurant , but our last trip was terrible. It was Father’s Day. And it was a very quiet night. When I walked around to investigate the restaurant there were only 6 or seven tables of diners. We ordered drinks to start. Another server brought all of them but my brothers beer which didn’t come til we asked for it 15 minutes later. Our server wS nice but not attentive at all. The pace was extremely slow from ordering to delivering items. The apps came out separately not to get her with long time gaps. And the food was very incomplete. Cutting corners. I looked around and realized there was about 4 servers and a bartender host manager and was wondering why they were so busy when there was so few tables. The entrees came and again they forgot my sisters salad. Our server Lonnie was never around to signal down. He was nice but seemed very busy which seemed strange 4 servers for seven table tops? I had to finally take the check up front to pay since he hadn’t returned after 15 minutes. My sister complained on the way out and they said they were low staffed. Don’t think we’ll ever come back. Sorry Claimjumper
This was are first visit and the appetizers were fantastic. I am pretty sure our waiter was high as a kite, he was friendly but not there we had to ask for refills. He got our alcoholic drinks wrong. We ordered the chicken pot pie and it was so over cooked it was mush and so thick. I ordered the tri tip and it had a bitter spice on it. Now my husband got the bacon steak and wow! Fantastic. So we will give it another shot .
Have not been here for a while although it’s a long time favorite. Staff were very friendly, very attentive. James’s service was perfect. Cozy place, relaxing, quiet and enjoyed the ambiance. Food presentations were great. It was a wonderful dining experience.
We waited a long time before anyone came to our table and then we got our salad before we ever got our drinks. Our main courses came out before our appetizer and my main course had the wrong side (asparagus instead of vegetables). They took it back and brought vegetables, but the vegetables had no flavor and were very greasy. The zucchini tasted the same as the carrots. It was not good. My steak was good and the appetizers we got in the middle of our main dish were fine. Overall, it was very disappointing, especially for the price.
