We never got clarification if it was a BOH issue or a tech glitch, but two orders of our party of six came out almost 15 minutes before anyone else. We had an error on one order, a $51 poterhouse, and we had all eaten, boxed our leftovers, had birthday dessert AND PAID THE BILL before the dish was brought out corrected. Management did remove the charge for that entrée, but the fish and chips had no flavor in the batter. The tri-tip, which was ordered Medium, was plated almost Blue.
All in all just a rough night for our group celebrating a pretty major milestone for a dear friend, and a rough night for the staff. Sammie, or server was delightful, but there a significant lack of communication with us in regards to our orders.
We had a very nice and efficient server.
Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. I enjoyed very tasty fish tacos served with fries, while my wife who is a vegan, was served baked vegetables and fresh fruit, something not expected in a place associated with so many steak dishes. The whole experience was one that calls for a revisit.
Our salads were great! However, it kind of sucked that things were not available despite being on the full menu.
We had a good lunch at Claim Jumpers. Good food and good service.
It was extremely warm inside and even the waitress was sweating. The food was mediocre, I would not return to this place.
Don’t understand why the pricing is so expensive given that there is nothing special about the restaurant itself. It’s like going to an overpriced family restaurant chain but getting the same quality food.
The staff did a good job of serving us, given that we were sat next to a group of about 30 people. A bit disconcerting at this point in time to be sat next to a large group in a sectioned off part of the restaurant, but we could have objected so this was not part of the rating.
They no longer offer bread bowls with their clam chowder! They have no bread service at all! Big shocker. Tried their seasonal appetizer Asian Ribs. They were quite delicious. Battered and then deep fried, so the rib meat is tender but then there is a crunchy outer layer so the contrast is nice. Tangy BBQ sauce was okay. Also had their clam chowder. Was as good as always so no complaints.
Had to wait a long time for service and getting water
Wonderful food and atmosphere.
We were very surprised by how delicious the food was and the service very attentive and friendly. The food though! The steak was seasoned so well and my brussel sprouts side was amazing! We haven’t been to The Claim Jumper for such a long time but it will not be too long before we return again!
Absolutely great service and the food was amazing
Had a good experience but the food was a little bland. My friend had the club and I had the BBQ chicken salad. Needed a little seasoning.
Enjoyed this dining experience to celebrate my granddaughters 16th Birthday.
Maybe reservations awesome, no wait. Fast service. Very polite waitress. The food was not very good. Ordered a salad was soak in dressing. May come back, may not. (Salad was Chicken tangerine blue cheese with vinaigrette).
Food was amazing as normal. Service was horrible. Our server Jesus messed up order and refused to correct it. Also did not provide refills for empty cups unless we specifically asked, and the restaurant was not busy at all.
3 out of the 6 entrees we ordered were overcooked and and the food was warm, like it had been sitting out for a while.
My husband and I ate at Claim Jumper in LaMesa last night. It was supposed to be a nice romantic date. It was his birthday! Well, it was a bit of a disappointment. We asked for a booth and we were seated right away. The restaurant was pretty empty. Our waitress came over immediately and asked us if we wanted to order a cocktail. We did, but did not get our two margaritas right away. She took our order right away............and then a little bit later another waitress brought over one of our appetizers (fried zucchini). We did not get our drinks until another young man came over with the other appetizer. We mentioned that we ordered our drinks just as soon as we were seated and still had not gotten them. He did go and get our drinks and brought them right over. Apparently our waitress had forgotten them at the bar!! Then, all of a sudden" another waitress brought all of the rest of our order at the same time.
we had her take them back "to sit under the heat lamps" until we were ready. Needless to say, nothing was piping hot except our fried zucchini.
Normally when we go out to an upscale restaurant we have a cocktail first, then we have a couple of appetizers. At this point, we usually order whatever wine we have chosen to go with our meal. Then (without being rushed) our "hot" meal
would arrive. As you can see, this was a rushed dinner, it was not romantic at all and we left very unhappy!!
The young girls and guys were very sweet and polite, but they sure do need some proper training on how to be a server! That falls on the management, I'm sorry to say!!
Jana our server was awesome. Chloe the manager was fabulous. Love Claim Jumper
Great service, good food, love the steaks. I stopped eating out last year because of COVID 19. This was my first venture in indoor dining. It was the BEST! Glad to be going back to normal,
Waited forever to get our food and when it did arrive it was cold. I will saw that our waitress was awesome, she was just as annoyed that our food was taking forever as we were and I know she was doing the best she could with what was within her power. Overall, besides our waitress, the service was not good at all and the food quality was terrible.
Went there for Mother’s Day dinner. Food and service was amazing.
We had a party of 6 adults for Mothers Day. The tables were nicely spaced apart as were the chairs. The food was excellent ( steaks, ribs and sea food) and the service was even better. Highly recommend Claim Jumper' s.
Our waitress Janet was amazing. So attentive and friendly.
I picked this restaurant for my Mothers Day Dinner. It was a disaster. The hostess sat us and it too at least 15 min for anyone to say anything to us. By the time she came over, we were ready to order. I ordered a Peach Colada and the Tri Tip Prospector Dinner. When my drink came, there was so many mint leaves ground into it that it tasted like potpourri. It was terrible. Then it took 30 min at least to get our food, from the kitchen guy. Our waiter never even said a word to us after he took our order. The kitchen guy dropped the food and left, then we realized we had no napkins or silverware. 10 min later we flagged someone else down, they brought us a stack of wrinkled bar napkins. Then we flagged down a busser and he brought us silverware. My dinner was pretty bad. The meat was fatty and overdone and the pile of potatoes was the size of a golf ball. We would have told our waiter but he literally never came back to the table. We had to flag the hostess down to get our check and pay. Needless to say, we will NOT be going back to Claim Jumpers La Mesa.
My burger was flavorless besides being salty and greasy. Manager would not accept claim jumper gift card. Will not be turning or referring anyone.
Understanding that we just opened up inside dining, claim jumper was not prepared for a Saturday open rush. With a reservation we were sat in in the bar. No problem, however our server was also the restaurant’s bartender. She was understandably overworked. It took 20 min to order, another 15 min to get drinks, another 30 min to get food. We also ordered food to go, in never got placed, so another 40 min waiting for check and to go order.
So not a great experience.
We were pleased with the food and the service! Will not hesitate to return!
Every order came our wrong. My son ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken and didn't get the spicy aioli, My husband ordered the Tri Tip Prospector that didn't come sauced. Just onions and mushrooms. I ordered a hamburger, got a cheese burger and the replacement didn't come with pickles. Bless our server for trying to make things right by bringing a slice of motherlode cake but my son and husband are diabetics so we couldn't eat it. Over all food tasted okay but wasn't what was expected. Maybe they are still getting up to speed due to COVID but we were left feeling like the experience was mediocre.
It was good but noisy and maybe do to comeback from COVID a little slow. And at the entrance we were waiting for at least 4 minutes when 4 ladies were there talking away without even a Hello please wait ....
My daughter ordered lobster Mac is was so terrible
Poor quality overcooked steak and vegetables. Nacho cheese sauce in loaded baked potato.
Great service, my fiancé and I had a great date thanks for the great hospitality
I was using a gift card they sent me after a horrible experience on Thanksgiving. We were seated promptly, our waitress Kathy was super fun and friendly. Food came quickly and was delicious.
We arrived early and were seated almost immediately. The service was great and the food was delicious. We will definately be returning to eat here again!
My family and i had great food and everything. The music was great and i recognized some of it. I’d say if you are looking for a great restaurant to dine at for lunch or dinner, this is the place to go. You can even look at their menu on line before you go.
Nothing special, but every now and then you want that chain type of food. Overpriced for what it is though.
The food and service was excellent. I can't wait to go back!
Great service wonderful food
Great place to eat not a bad price. But some of there sauces can be a little heavy. They took away my fav soup the French Onion that's a bummer.
