Claim Jumper - Fremont
I was HUGELY disapointed in this visit to Claim Jumper. My husband and I enjoyed my birthday dinner with them in July - and they acknowledged the occasion with a piece of cake. So I booked them to celebrate my husband's 80th birthday - his actual birthday - noted it on the reservation and said so to our waiter. The meal was fine, and when he asked if we wished dessert, I asked if there was any birthday acknowledgment. He said no, they'd stopped that program. What "program? If you have someone celebrating a MAJOR milestone, you can't put a scoop of ice cream in a dish and acknowledge that? Think about it - your 80th birthday - and you're just handed the check after the table is cleared. I specifically avoided the restaurants with singers, sparklers on cupcakes etc. because Claim Jumper was classier. A mistake I won't repeat.
The Asian Chicken salad was excellent, with the right amount of crunch & sweetness, but the BBQ chicken salad was way too barbequey (if that's a word) & difficult to eat.
As for the service, our waiter was not with-it! When I explained that the chicken bbq salad was not palatable, he just looked at my husband & I & walked away without any comment or alternative suggestion to correct the issue. My husband ate the other half of my Asian Chicken Salad instead. Guy got lucky he got a $5 tip.
We arrived at this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. There was no one at the host stand but the host appeared a couple minutes later to say she needed to clean a table for us and would be right back. While we waited I took my 6 y.o. son to the restroom. As we walked through the restaurant he commented that there were lots of open and clean tables. He was right. We passed about 15 -20 clean, unoccupied tables. After being seated we waited more than 15 minutes until I flagged down a manager. During that time no one came to greet us or bring water or anything. The manager went to find our waiter and then came back to take our orders and said our waiter was busy doing something else. After our order was taken service was slow but friendly. The manager asked another waiter to help us. Our assigned waiter never came to our table. The food was ok but nothing to write home about. We will probably not dine here again.
Was there with a friend to celebrate a birthday with brunch on Sunday September 15th. Even at 10 am, the food looked like it had been out for hours. The waffles were obviously frozen and not toasted through, the pancakes were cold. The omelet bar was satisfactory, but nothing special. They were out of roast beef. The turkey was marginal. Cheese enchiladas and Mexican dishes looked dry and cold. I tried a bite of enchilada and it was as previously mentioned; cold and dry. For two, with one tomato juice and one coffee--with tax and tip $75.00---Ridiculous! and not even good. Servers brought coffee and juice but otherwise serve yourself. I paid $75.00 for an omelet and a little fruit. My friend had less. I will not return.
Service was average. Food was somewhat below par. steaks were dry, even at medium. Rice pilaf was more like rice-roni. Bad. Chicken fried steak has 3130 mg of sodium. Do you want me to have a heart attack at your table? ALL food was very very high in sodium. I guess you guys have rad the FDA finding on sodium and blood pressure. Race pilaf was more like rice-a-roni. Bad. Grilled shrimp was dry, no moisture at all l. First time there, and the last.
Our party had a very nice time at the Fremont Claim Jumper. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the food was good.
Great location for us to meet in the middle! The only negative was that they ran out of their famous Mother Lode Cake!
OMG, i ordered Chicken Fried Steak. First the caesar salad was soaked with dressing. Should be lightly covered as the purpose is not to eat dressing. My main course, Chicken fried steak arrived and I thought it was chicken fingers. 3 small pieces mostly batter. I could not taste any meat as the batter was overwhelming. I really should have returned it for exchange of a different dish. OH well.....
Waiter was very rude and we order something to take out and had to wait forever because the waiter had it for the wrong table
Food was great, Coconut Mojito was awesome, service was wonderful, will be back again .
Restaurant was clean. The food was well prepared. The service was excellent
We usually have very good food and service here & this visit was no exception. Very large menus with something for everyone. One of our favorite go-to restaurants. However, I would never go here without reservations.
Unfortunately, desserts are very overpriced and nothing special. The MotherLode chocolate cake may look impressive because of the size, but the cake was hard and not very good. We have to go elsewhere for desserts.
We always love to come to restaurant before since it's part of Landrys and we are a select club member. I was so disappointed during our last visit. I ordered a Porterhouse steak "medium well ". Craving for it for sometime. As I continue eating the steak, I noticed that they give me medium rare. I inform our server and She said she will tell her manager about it and nothing happened. I let the other gentleman know about too, seem like he hears nothing. Very disappointed!
We had a great server, great food, great atmosphere for my daughters birthday dinner.
I am going to write a review on Trip Advisor. We will not go back to Claim Jumpers again, no way.
Not sure what was going on tonight but our service was absolutely awful. It took forever to get anything done, our food took forever, things came out incorrectly and things we asked for never got brought out. I’m usually very understanding but this was just too many strikes.
We went to Claim Jumper for my mothers birthday and there were about 10 in our group. The waiter was excellent. Helped us pick out a plate for those of us hadn't been there. The food was a little more disappointing. It was just plain for the price of each plate. We were expecting the food to blow our my minds and it just was not that at all.
Meatloaf and salmon were over cooked (dry and hard). My daughter kid meal spaghetti was spicy. They just have a different chef because it was horrible. We used to come here a lot but we may only order the Butter Cake to go - this was still delicious.
This was our second time at Claim Jumpers and it wasn’t that good. I had the chicken with wedge salad and mashed potatoes. Thank goodness that wedges was big because the chicken was tiny and my mashed potatoes tasted moldy and so I pushed Them around the plate there was a big black moldy potato ball, which ruined it for me. Our waiter never came by to ask if we wanted refills or anything. We didn’t complain only because we were celebrating my sisters-in-laws birthday.
But after this experience I’m just not sure about going again.
Was very good and love seeing people with special needs to treated so well.
Beer was cold and it took forever to get the drinks. It was my wife bday and she got a free cake...nobody sang her or even a $2 candle to blow
The food selection of the brunch is less, and the quality seems to be lower than before change of ownership too.
Nice luncheon with friends. Excellent service, good food.
We love Claim Jumper but were disappointed that they no longer belong to Landry's. We were celebrating 2 birthdays, expecting birthday discounts for both, only to find out after the fact they were no longer available. But 2 slices of Mother Load cake made up for our disappointment.
Lousy. The girl said I didn’t have a reservation. I showed her my confirmation email and she said no she didn’t have one for me. also said she didn’t know why the system would let me book one online when she was busy with everyone else and had no tables and I’d have to wait at least 30 minutes. She ended up seating us when we asked to speak to a manager. The waiter was nice. Food was barely warm and the fish from the fish n chips was greasy. Would not recommend nor do I see me going back anytime soon. It definitely wasn’t worth the 40 minute drive.
Claim Jumper has a good selection on their menu. My favorite is clam chowder. A good place to celebrate birthdays.
Great night!! Shots are not watered down and food was pretty good too.
Had a 4:30 reservation - great window booth - great service. Crowd started after 5:30, so our timing was perfect. Food delivered promptly, no rush, had a leisurely birthday dinner. They even boxed up a piece of birthday cake for us to take home. Great experience - we will be back!!
nice place with hearty food. Good appetizers, although they have changed the menu recently
It’s really gone down hill, I guess I haven’t been since it first opened and it was hard to get a table. Now it’s gone to a level where I’m not going to come back.
Best steaks in the East Bay by far
We have never had such bad service at any restaurant before. When we arrived, our reservation was honored, and we were quickly seated, but that was when the problems started. The main one being we were never waited on. We waited for 15 minutes with no one coming by to even give us bread. After those 15 minutes, I had to get up and find the manager to ask to be waited on. The manager was kind, and said she would send someone over right away. 10 minutes later, we still had no one wait on us, so we decided to walk out.
I am new to Fremont. I have eaten in several restaurants in the area and was very disappointed. I decided to try the Claim Jumper, as I have enjoyed it in Southern California, and was greeted by fine quality of food, service and environment. This was my second visit within two weeks, I will surely visit again.
The price for Father’s Day brunch was very high for the quality of the food. We can’t eat $30 worth of food at 10:30 in the morning. I didn’t realize the cost until we were seated. I am regretting that we stayed.
The Sunday brunch is fantastic. A very good value with exceptional food and ambiance. All the food was better than expected except the meats on the carving station. They were cooked well but served cold with cold gravy and au jui. Huge selection of other great food so the carving station miss doesn't detract from the overall experience.
Food was very good but found it to be expensive for brunch perhaps because it was Father"s Day. I would still recommend this place to friends.
Father’s Day Dinner.
There were missed orders. Waiter seldom checked on us, not very attentive to details. Overall a mediocre experience and would have gone to a different restaurant instead.
Way to hot..would not turn on air conditioning ..told it was broken..too hot to enjoy dinner
