Claim Jumper - Avondale
Seemed like it was an off day for the staff. The server was apologizing a lot to her tables for problems. The kitchen ignored the ticket for my food and gave me whatever they wanted instead of the things I ordered. It could have been better.
Took my mom to lunch for Valentine’s Day, the place was quiet and the service was great!
Service and food was great! We were a large group and a little loud and rowdy, but we had a great experience for our business dinner.
Come for the gluten free menu, leave wondering why the crazies at the table tried to finish the 7 layer chocolate cake in 1 sitting!
It was our anniversary! So it was a special night and we had a reservation but they really pushed for us to sit at the bar for happy hour, I was like eh okay I like discounts. I got the salmon oscar. In all honesty the salmon was delicious but the crab on top was so gross and fishy. I also got a pomegranate mojito and it was like they used a syrupy type of sweetener and it made it taste like cough medicine. My Caesar salad was sour as well. Other than that i did love the calamari, mozzarella sticks, creamed corn, and of course my salmon. It is a beautiful restaurant I just wish some things were a bit better. Our server was really sweet as well, I wish I remembered her name.
Great server! Very helpful with great suggestions!
Great happy hour specials in the bar
Had better experience on prior visits, service was great, however, the food was cold...all in all, I appreciate the people working on New Year’s Eve.
The zucchini starter was terrific, the fries were hot and good but the sandwich had one slice of meat, no discernible taste, and the bread was too soggy to eat. A Jewish Deli it is not - so it was a learning experience.
Service was perfect! BBQ/Pork belly burger was good but not great. A bit salty and we ended up removing the pork.
Friends fish tacos were outstanding and the complimentary rolls were great.
t's like they've just given up at this location!
We have been to this location many times and truth is, almost every time the service is lack-luster. Service is always friendly, however, speed is not a company priority. Last nights meal was no exception. From the time you sit down to the time your drinks arrive is always about 20+ minutes. Your best bet at Claim Jumper is to order all your rounds at once! Once food arrived, yeah, that took some time too, of the four guests at out table, all of our plates had some items that were cold. One guests order arrived and it was completely the wrong item so she waited for the correct item while we ate our (mildly warm) entrees. We asked for a second loaf of bread about three times, that never did arrive. The final round of drinks we ordered were taking ever longer than the normal long time) and we were told, "they were cleaning more glasses." Ummm, is this a real restaurant.....After the wrong menu item arrived the manager came over to our table (we didn't request this but it was nice that he showed concern and came over.) We requested nothing but he ended up giving one persons entree for Free (arrived cold and took three times to get it right..) And a Free dessert of our choice to share.
I then went to the men's restroom and this was the final straw for me. One urinal was out of order (fine, no worries) but the water wasn't working to wash your hands in any of the three sinks and the entire time i walked on the floor it was all STICKY...all of it!!!! F'ing gross
When the bills arrived there was an item on the bill we never ordered so that needed to be fixed. Just more lack of attention to the Basics.
Claim Jumper, in my experiences coming to your Avondale location, you were never Great, you were just Good. I think you always got a pass from me as the interior decor/ambiance....of this location helps deflect the pain of slow service etc. Last night changed everything for me and the others at the table. I won't be back to
Appetizer platters were really good & would be good for about 4 adults. Everyone ordered different items from the menu & we were all very pleased with taste & portions. Girls Night Out cocktails were fabulous if vodka is your thing. We would definitely go back.
The food was amazing. Left in a good coma. Along with my whole family.
It was just OK. Overpriced for the fast food kind of atmosphere. Menus were dirty and stuck together. Food tastes good but overpriced and atmosphere was more like a sports bar.
The Servers were extremely busy. It took an hour to get our salads and the entrees came out a few
minutes into the salads.. Drinks took extended time. The Desert was another 30 minute wait. I think more help in the kitchen and with the tables / bar would be helped. Overall it was very nice. You have to be extremely patient on Holiday's and Busy Seasons. We gave our server a generous tip. They all worked very hard to accommodate our needs.
This was the worst meal ever. We went for the Thanksgiving meal (11/28/19) and it was not good. Service was not terrible, but close. Let’s start at the beginning, we were served bread, dry no butter. The meal, 2 in our party ordered the turkey, the turkey and stuffing were both dry and there was very little gravy on anything, we had to request gravy. One ordered the tri tip (med rare), it came to the table well done, hard to cut and even more difficult to chew. One ordered the prime rib, that was actually good, tender and with a nice flavor. The mashed potatoes on all plates were dry and grainy as though there was no butter or cream added at all. The vegetables we were served either over cooked or raw, the carrots were almost raw and the zucchini and squash were almost mush. Lastly the pie, 3 ordered apple, taste wasn’t bad but it would be impossible to serve a smaller slice and still call it desert, one ordered the pumpkin, we all tasted it and all struggled to find a pumpkin flavor.... not sure what it was.
Horrible service. Took 20 minutes to seat us although place was empty and we had reservations. Food didn’t come out at the same tine. One dish had to be returned twice because steak wasn’t cooked as asked. The final time they got it right the shrimp and potato that came with the dish were cold even though they took the entire plate back. Seems as though they just re-cooked the steak and didn’t bother keeping everything else warm.
Slow service. Cold food. hardly anyone eating I won't be revisiting this place again
Back of house needs some serious lessons on preparing food. Half our table was done wayyy before the others and just sat under the heat lamp. Our appetizer came out with our food also. Our poor server kept passing by the kitchen waiting for everything to be done.
Waited 30 minutes for our resv. Very slow service once seated. Server said item was sold out & he could sub it for what I actually wanted. But then brought the sold out item instead. Only high point of the night was the free cake for my sons birthday. Big cake.
Our reservations were for 6:15 pm. We arrived at 5:45. The restaurant was basically empty but they made us wait 10 minutes anyway. After getting our salads the server never returned to remove the dishes. We finally flagged down a bus girl and asked her to do it. 5 of us ordered the Parmesan crusted shrimp. All 5 dishes the shrimp was so over cooked it was mush. Told the waiter, he sent the manager over. The manager apologized and offered us something different but at this point we were so unhappy with this dining experience most of us passed. After ordering my 2nd glass of wine I had to flag down the waiter and request it again. Poor service, awful food and did I mention this was to celebrate one couples wedding that day. Never will go there again. Will advise everyone I know not to go there.
Service and food were great.
Our server seemed to be working alone, so he was a little slow at delivering extra request
But I don’t think it was his fault
I have been going to Claim Jumper since the early 80's in Laguna Hills California. This evening with our guest was probably the worst service and food we have experienced in the phoenix area in the last 15 years. I was shocked. I was at the Avondale location last year with a guest and it was great.
Very bad service. My food was served cold and I got a hot meal. Dinner took 45-50 min to come to my table.
Claim jumper is not what it used to be they changed the food, fries, portion size, the food taste terrible and the food does not taste fresh and it's not worth the price. Claim jumper has totally changed it's not what is used to be ot usually is a packed house now I know why. Not sure what they did to change claim jumper but It does not look like it will last much longer
Ordered the fish and chips. Chips were soggy and didn’t appear to be fresh out of the fryer. While the fish part of the dish were good I was disappointed with the amount of batter used. It was far too thick for my taste.
On the other hand, our server was excellent. Always checking back in with the table and kept out drinks full.
I would return but definitely would try a different dish!
Took my mom here for a birthday dinner. I’m from California so this location was a good experience.
Claim Jumper said that Open Table reservations were not communicating with their system. I arrived right at my 6:30 PM reservation time and was seated after two other couples that arrived at the same time. This was very annoying. I thought that Open Table and Claim Jumper would have established better communication.
First off the Place was empty on a Friday night that should have told me right off the bat....Got served a Rancid Rib Eye from the kitchen and the Manager proceeded to argue with me that the meat couldn’t be rancid well it was and you didn’t have to even taste it you could smell the steak was sour.......terrible way to treat customers in a restaurant that’s empty on a Friday night NEVER EVER AGAIN
Open table app does not work with this restaurant. Waited an extra 40 min to get seated from what our reservation was. Food was cooked wrong on 2 out of 7 orders. Bill was incorrect. They were supposed to comp 2 meals. Instead they tried charging us. Worst experience ever in the last 5 years of going to this restaurant. Manager was worthless. Terrible!
Don't bother with reservation, said the program wasn't working. Food took forever and some of the food was cold. A friend waited ten minutes at the front door when they said they would watch for her and direct her to our booth. They told her they would be right with her but did not speak with her again. By the way, No cell service in that area.
Waitress seemed lost maybe too many tables who knows . Biggest thing was she misplaced credit card had to wait for her to find it before we could leave
The manager was very helpful as my Rewards Card for my recent birthday was turned down because it was just past the 30 day time limit. He tried to make up for it by giving us a 10% discount and a slice of their heavenly chocolate cake for free (I think it's like a $9 value). I will go back.
Our server Dean was very attentive to our every need.
We made a reservation on the OpenTable website for a Saturday evening and when we went to check in, there was no reservation and they said they no longer take reservations. Thank goodness it was a slow night and we had immediate seating, but why bother having OpenTable????
Fantastic happy hour with great prices. Wonderful menu selection. The appetizer platter was tasty and of good value. Service was slow for the number of people in the restaurant and they were out of several menu options. We will go back as the food was good.
I think Claim Jumper should target more companies. We did this for a business meeting. I like the big tables. I'm surprised they don't offer small rooms (for private dining)
Even though we had reservations and arrived early, there was no problem. We weren't rushed and had excelent service. Food wads great and plenty of it.
I generally like Claim Jumper.
Was disappointed in that you were no longer a Landry’s venue despite the fact they continue to advertise as if you were.
My roasted chicken was was over cooked and dry.
Our waitress was very friendly and generally attentive.
I reserved this place by mistake in Arizona. I live in Nevada. When I went to my local Claim Jumper they did not have my reservation. I still got a table. My food was excellent although my wife's and others in my party was not as good. The food was good but not what they expected. Although overall the experience was great we will not be going back anytime soon. There are other places just as good and closer.
