Civic Kitchen and Drink
My first two favorable visits here were unfortunately offset by a bad experience tonight. We spent the first few awkward minutes being told we didn't actually have a reservation. I had to show them the OpenTable confirmation, and a quick walk through the dining room revealed the other two members of our party already seated. Not a big deal. The server was polite and attentive but failed to bring out our salads until prompted (30 minutes later). Our entree's arrived seconds later. We hadn't even tried the salads. A member of our party had to send a cold piece of Swordfish back to the kitchen, and we were all almost done with our meals by the time she received a new dish. We did speak to the manager but really didn't get the feeling she was on top of things. I should say, aside from the Swordfish, the meals were very good. One final item: My wife ordered the "house Cabernet". We were charged $12 a glass which is what I would expect to spend in a high-end Boston restaurant. They agreed to reduce it to $10 but I'm sorry that is still way too expensive for a "Pub" at a decent public golf course. Overall, not a good experience at a place we were beginning to really like.
Our dinner took place on the first evening that the patio was open for the season. Service was very slow and the staff poorly organized.
We were visiting from out of town and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Server was Tim and he was excellent. He explained their menu and concept to us and was very knowledgable.
Love this place.....nice quiet place to meet friends and actually hear one another speak ......very relaxing.
I was at civic years ago and had a fabulous meal. This dinner was sub par.
Burger was mediocre as compared to my last visit. Fries were soft and soggy. Not the finest meal for a $16 burger.
The meal was fantastic! The shrimp and ravioli special should be on the regular menu. The appetizers and main courses were served hot. Everything had a lot of flavor and portion sizes were perfect
Food great. I only wish more gluten free options.
The Civic Kitchen has become one of our favorite restaurants. Everyone from the hostess to the servers are friendly and so helpful. They have created an open and inviting atmosphere where tables are separated from other dinners so you can have a conversation without disturbing others. Kids are welcome and the kids menu is wonderful. The food quality is consistently excellent, and the menu’s seasonal options are always delicious and not the usual fare. The patio overlooking the golf course is a fabulous dining option when weather permits. It’s wonderful having a restaurant of this caliber in the “burbs”
Love Monday night burgers - best burger in the area!
Food was decent but service was horrible. We asked our server for extra appetizer plates. When she came back with them 20 mins later, she asked if we needed anything and then walked away with our appetizer plates in her hand! During dessert, she didn’t bring any new silverware and then when she noticed we were eating cake with our knives, she came over and said “I noticed you guys were eating with knives so I brought some forks”. Horrible! The noise level is also extremely loud and it’s difficult to have a conversation. Not impressed and I don’t think we’ll be back.
This was probably my 6th or 7th time here and by far the noisiest visit i’ve ever had.
There was a table of in accompanied children that appeared to be 12 and under carrying on like they were in the school cafeteria and there was a table of customers that got louder as they drank forcing us to relocate to another table in order to be able to hear ourselves speak across our table.
The room could use some kind of acoustical treatment to lower the volume and some the clientele should practice their indoor voices.
The food was wonderful but we were once again disappointed that the brined pork chop is still missing from the menu.
I enjoy an updated menu as much as anyone but a few signature dishes should remain.
This was the second time we dined at this restaurant. The first visit (about a month ago) was four stars. This past weekend was three stars. I am giving them four stars since I can't do three and a half. I ordered the same entree both times. The first time the food was very good, the second time it was just good. We had the same experience with the appetizers. On the first visit, I took home desert. On the second visit, we weren't asked if we wanted desert. There isn't anything special about the atmosphere and I can get "good" food for half the price, so I'll probably give them one more try and that will result in either their redemption or being chopped from my list.
The food and service were very good. The only issue is there is something wrong with the acoustics in the main dining room and it was incredibly loud. My husband could barely hear anything I said, but yet I could hear all the details of a conversation at a table across the room from us. I could see that they put some sound absorbers on the ceiling but they don't seem to be helping. I think I would only go back if they could seat us in another area of the restaurant or I'll wait until the weather gets nicer and sit on the big deck they have.
Food was excellent, we love farm to table..
Will definitely return..
Service was excellent...
Nice options for diners with allergies. Sat in the bar area, relaxed ambiance.
The staff was excellent, decent environment. The food, while it looked nice, lacked a deliciousness that one would expect for the price of the dishes. The food was just ok, not worth $26 for an entree (pork chop special).
We enjoy our visits to Civic Kitchen and Drink because the food is imaginative, locally sourced and delicious. The wait staff is friendly and helpful as well.
As always Food, service and drinks were wonderful. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
Celebrated a friend’s birthday. Our server was friendly and welcoming. She offered suggestions that some of us took and enjoyed. The food was fantastic. Everyone had something great to say about their meal. We happened to go later in the evening during midweek so the restaurant was quiet and not crowded.
One of the entrees we ordered was the seared scallops with fennel.
Though the description said it would be topped with shaved fennel salad, there was no sign of that at all.
The last time we visited, we ordered only appetizers and sides, and all of them were excellent.
Great find, so happy we came - the food was delicious, the space was welcoming, drinks were great, servers very helpful and pleasant.
Enjoyed every minute of our first time to the Table. Tim was a very knowledgeable and helpful server. Definatly will be back with friends and family.
I love the Civic Kitchen, our waitress was wonderful and made the experience fun. Our food is always good but found the beef shortrib in the deconstructed chili meal to be overcooked. I've had the short rib there before it was always mouth watering. An off night I suppose. Also, the coffee wasn't as hot as it should be. Other than that - that will not stop us from going again. I love the changing menu and especially the outside atmosphere.
Our food was terrific. The service was, let's say, just what it needed to be - not 'over the top', but 'there' when we needed it. I might have preferred a table nearer the windows - a large chunk of the restaurant appeared to be set up for a big party, presumably coming in after we left, so one long table took up a wall of windows.. The decor and the ambiance is casual - sometimes that really is a relief.
Love Civic. Go there every chance I get. Staff is superb, chef is imaginative and nails it every time. Drinks are great. Atmosphere is excellent. Fun place. Can't wait for summer patio time!
Outstanding food and service, great environment. A choice that never disappoints. Thank you.
The food is always good. However they made some menu changes. I highly recommend the chicken and dumplings and the short ribs. Both were excellent.
Really enjoyed my meal- got the grilled cheese with tomato bisque. The food was delicious and the service was great. It’s an interesting restaurant space. I’d definitely go back.
Just an average place, nothing stood out. Service was okay, food wasn't hot enough. Menu is okay. Plenty of parking.
Food okay but when brought to table no plates where brought
Had to eat tasty meatballs out of bowl they were presented in! Staff needs to be trained on this as when
Entrees where delivered we had no cutlery! Had to ask which made service poor!
I loved the farm to table focus and the creative recipes! Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the food preparation and was able to answer our questions thoroughly. The onion soup was perfectly balanced and the cheese croquette topping provided a pleasant and delicious surprise. The entrée was pork shank over polenta. The polenta was smooth, creamy and the perfect comfort food for a rainy cold evening. the shank was tender and juicy, but just a bit over-spiced for my taste. That didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying this creative dish. Dessert was a wonderful cheesecake and the most delicious coffee I've had in a long time. The perfect ending for a lovely evening!
Creative and delicious food with great service. I thought the prices were OK; not a bargain but also not outrageous. The building is a converted/active clubhouse that seemed to have quite a few families, so the ambiance and noise level could have been better...but these were definitely not deal breakers.
Great food large portions local ingredients great local beer list
Great food & service, would come back!
Quality cocktails, great appetizers and entrees, attentive and friendly service. Tables are well spaced and the noise level is reasonable. The only downside is they don't stay open very late.
Wonderful as always. Great food and service. Erin was very attentive.
Happy to see the restaurant featured on Chronicle!
Delicious and I will be back often!! Highly recommend the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich. I will forever be craving the house-made ranch dressing!
Generally a decent dining experience
Service was really slow. Food was good but pricey for what it is.
