Civetta Italian Kitchen + Bar
The food was very tasty and well presented, my only complaint was that both our dishes were overly salted.
I rated overall 5 star... as constructive feedback I would make a smaller bread and red sauce appetizer. It is only $4 but 6 pieces of bread for two people is way too much and only one small cup of red sauce. Could you have two or three cups of red sauce and only 3 pieces of bread for $4???? That would be much better for a couple. I am sure you throw away a lot of bread serving 6 large pieces at a time.
We have a wonderful experience!! Service was outstanding and food and drinks were great!! We will be back.
Great food and service a new favorite
As a fish eater, I have now tried the salmon twice in the snapper once, and both have been quite good. However the side dishes, orzo and gnocchi are very heavy. I would very much appreciate some lighter and healthier choices.
We ordered 5 different mains and none of them were good.
Food was really good.
Great place to go for a nice evening with friends, family or date night. Our server Sam was excellent in the quality of service as well as recommendations. I highly recommend this place, you would not be disappointed!
Everything was excellent. The sous chef rocks! I would recommend this place to any family or couple.
First time visiting. Food was excellent, service was good, price was good. Acoustics are not great, as it was a little noisy and we were not there on a weekend, but we will definitely be going back for the great food!
Great food and service!!
Great food and fun atmosphere! Will definitely be going back!
Delicious. Great atmosphere.
Been to restaurant 4 times. The original menu was great. They are continuing to go from wonderful to bad visit by visit. Menu change by menu. We were so excited to find them, but going to have to let them go
Very enjoyable dinner.
The PEI mussels were wonderful as was the crab appetizer. Our waiter was very slow in greeting us so much so that the mangage came over and took our drink order. When our waiter appeared we asked if the mussels and crab were good our waiter said he did not know he did not eat meat. My wife is always quick with a response so she responded that mussels and crab were not meat. Our waiter said they were alive. So we asked what he would recommend he said nothing.
When we commented to the manager he said he knew the waiter was a vegetarian and he could not discriminate against him because of this.
My wife and I had a great time because the whole thing is just so strange.
The food was tasty but our appetizer came out literally in less than one minute and our entrees VERY quickly after. It made it feel like they weren’t made to order and were just sitting under the warmer. It made the evening feel rushed.
The waiter was great
Food took a bit longer to come out than usual, but they were very apologetic and accommodating. Everything was delicious. Best garlic bread in town!
We we rather disappointed with this restaurant
The place looked great but that was its biggest appeal
The appetizer we ordered capprezre salad was small and the tomatoes drowned in oil
The chicken parm was deep fried, dry, and crunchy and very small. The shrimp scampi was luke warm and the bed of pasta all stuck together
We were promised hot bread that never arrived
All together a very mediocre experience
There are much better alternatives around the Ballantyne area
Great place for Italian in Ballantyne! Good food good service! Nice experience!
We booked early but the only thing available was high top tables. Not an issue normally but the chairs were terribly uncomfortable. We ordered drinks, which were good and then we ordered our meal, which came quickly but one of them was wrong, I mean completely wrong not just something missing. Also, we didn’t have any napkins or silverware on our table so when we told the person delivering food she brought us 2 forks and stuck them into our plates. No napkins. My husband ordered the shrimp scampi, which is a meal he normally loves but it was overloaded with red pepper flakes, something not mentioned in the description, so that made it less enjoyable for him. I ordered the veal Milanese. The veal chop was huge but a little hard to cut with a butter knife which is what I was given. The veal alone was just average but eaten in unison with the arugula salad that came with it, was really good.
All in all, it was disappointing because it didn’t live up to the reviews we had read. The restaurant is nice, good atmosphere but they need to work on their front end management for sure.
We won’t be returning and honestly I think I’ve only said that maybe twice in my life so that a big deal to me.
Went to Civetta's with my husband for dinner. This was our first time there. They had a really interesting menu with unique and tasty options. Our server, Brianna, was terrific and provided exceptional service.
For starters, we tried the brussel sprouts appetizer and the olives both were really good and different than any other place we have been.
My husband had the chicken parm dish for his main meal and I had the salmon; both were very good and hearty portions. We were so full that we had no room for dessert.
Totally enjoyed our dining experience and will certainly go back again.
Food & service were great. It was a little noisy. Weather permitting, we would probably choose to sit outside next time.
Excellent service; quick to be seated. Food was great.
Overall would highly recommend for anyone seeking tasty, authentic Italian food. Their garlic bread is phenomenal, as are their Brussels sprouts and pasta dishes. The only part of the experience that was somewhat disappointing was the service. Our waitress couldn’t provide us recommendations on bottles of wine, nor had she tried all of the dishes on the menu to provide recommendations. We also felt fairly rushed with her checking on us about packaging up our orders for take away. But, we will certainly be back for the food and ambiance!
Came highly recommended by a coworker. We will
Definitely be back. Priced well and the food and pasta was made in house (or it tasted that way to us!!).
Fantastic, our fourth time dining in the restaurant (we’ve ordered to go as well) and they’ve recently changed the menu and my favorite dish is no longer on the menu... HOWEVER, they still have all the ingredients so the chef made the dish for me- so yummy! I truly appreciate this level of customer service, it’s hard to find these days. We’ll be back.
Food was average, not bad but nothing special.
We were excited to see this new restaurant but unfortunately were left disappointed by several factors. The service was really below average (the waiter we had could have worked at IHOP or any average diner for that matter). He didn't introduce himself and considering that the restaurant had been open for a few days I would have thought that some sort of introduction of what's new should/would have been part of the training. He didn't introduce the menu just left us to read up, which I suppose is fine but not if you're trying to earn repeat customers. The wine list sounded very interesting, all authentic Italian wines of which we had no knowledge. So while trying to choose the only thing we had to go on was the region and the price tag. The waiter was of no help whatsoever! It seemed that there is a manager on staff but he was acting as a backup server and fussing over the kitchen and the orders; I get that it's part of his job but he should also ensure all customers are planning on coming back. The food, as labeled Italian, was just OK. We ordered the mussels, and that appetizer was prepared very well. My husband ordered chicken parm which I tasted, frankly if they had used canned tomato sauce it might have come out a bit better (the chef's skills didn't come through). Tasted below average. I ordered scallops with risotto and was disappointed as the scallops were over-cooked and over-seasoned.
I would come back to have a drink at the bar (and maybe try another appetizer) but would not recommend this for a date night, or if you're craving Italian food (well prepared Italian food that is).
Good food! The garlic bread is a must!
The noise level is loud!
Excellent experience at Civetta! Good and service were very good! Nice place
Really good food with a great selection. Love the interior of the place. This place has a long history of different restaurants, so I hope this one sticks. Will definitely go back!
Good; a bit noisy but it was a packed house. Food was almost perfect.
Our sever was pretty good with the exception of clearing dinnerware once finished with salad and appetizer.
Food was not as good as expected. Chicken Marsala was over sweet and garlic very strong. Ziti had cauliflower and broccoli. Broccoli was very crunchy. I plan to go back and try something different. I really want this restaurant to be good and will give it another chance.
Food was very good. Waitress was good, but not very friendly. Noise was a little much and it wasn't even full. I'll go back because the food is so good, though.
We reserved a table for a girlfriend birthday lunch. The weather allowed us to have a perfect outside table. The food was excellent. Our waitress was wonderful and helped us with our food selections. We are definitely going back!
Very few vegetarian options other than a cheese pizza and eggplant Parmesan; slow service; clueless wait staff.
