Civetta Italian Kitchen + Bar
Food was outstanding! I had the smoked chicken ravioli. Amazing. My had a flat bread and she couldn’t stop taking about it. We’ve been a few times and never disappointed. Love this place
Food was unremarkable. Our waiter was excellent.
Our first time eating at this restaurant. Food, staff and ambiance was wonderful.
Calamari was cold and very fishy, two of the dinners were cold and very poorly prepared. We had invited a couple to go for dinner that had not been before and their response was that they would not go back. One of my friends and I have a birthday this month and had planned to have lunch there if the dinner was good.......her response was I wouldn’t come back here . They took 30% off the two bad meals but that wasn’t the point, we were not looking for a discount we were looking for good food to enjoy our dinner out.
My husband ordered an entree, only to be told 5 minutes later they were out and he would have to choose another. I code the Bolognese with pappardelle pasta. When it came out, some of the noodles were cooked al dented while others were very raw. Further examination showed they were of different thicknesses. When I called over the manager, he explained that the pasta machine was off kilter so that part of the dough rolled out thin while it gradually got thicker. I guess it didn’t occur to him that if he knew there was a problem, he should either take the item off the menu or figure out a work around, like use a rolling pin on the thicker side. What should not have been an option is serving food you know is wrong in hopes no one will notice. Won’t go back there again.
Two different pasta dishes; both very good. Smoked chicken carbonara especially tasty. Open kitchen with all activity is fun. Waiter nicely attentive & professional. Noise level is quite high. Overall, very happy with first visit and we will return.
The food was fantastic and so was the service. The atmosphere was perfect for any occasion. The hostesses were welcoming and the chefs were very accommodating. We will be back!
All around a very nice dinner. Drinks and dinner were delicious. Service was good. I usually get one of their seafood dishes. Always great.
Great new Italian restaurant in Blakney in the old Smoke location. Tasty entries very reasonably priced. Nice menu selection. Very good wait staff. Really attractive interior design. Must go to place.
Very well appointed bar and dining area. The menu is diverse and the food was delicious and well presented. The waiter was professional, attentive and very knowledgeable, too bad he leaves for college soon! Highly recommend a very nice addition to the limited 'good Italian' choices in So. Charlotte, go you won't be disappointed!
Simply stated, Food was just not that good.
Restaurant and Bar were full but extremely noisy making it almost impossible to have a conversation (we were 4 people). We eventually moved to an outside table which was OK. Grilled octopus appetizer was very dry and a very small portion for $14. Waiter was polite but not around enough probably due to the restaurant being very busy. Our guests returned their main course (ravioli) - tasteless, watery sauce but were not impressed with the replacement. The restaurant manager handled it very professionally and removed the cost from the bill.
Saturday night with friends
First the good news: All the food was excellent. The mussels were very good as was the special salad with burrata. Our mains included veal Milanese, the snapper fish special, smoked chicken carbonara, and papardelle bolognese. All were great.
Now, the bad news: The service was horrible. Our server was obviously very stressed and working very hard. Our appetizers were finished and two of our party had not received the glasses of wine ordered at the time we sat down. In spite of repeated assurances we would get the wine, our mains arrived and still no wine. Our server was not very attentive and we had to ask for water refills. After learning of our predicament, the manager did comp the wine which finally came, but did not bother to speak with us personally. Perhaps Civettta is a victim of its success, or a tight labor market. Finally, something to break up the hard ceiling surfaces might reduce the noise to a level where shouting wouldn't be necessary to talk to a table mate.
Loved our waiter
He was the bartender too
Very professional and attentive
My first time there but other family members had been and loved it. I was impressed. Great food and ambiance
Came for Queens Feast to try something new. The deal was two appetizers and an entree for $30. No dessert which seemed silly. The waitress was sweet, never told us her name though. It took a long time for the first appetizers to arrive. The calimari was just ok, the brusslels sprouts were quite good. The second set of appetizers showed up some time later. This was the caprese salad and octopus. The octopus was the best of the night, very well done. The chicken parmigiana was okay, very light on the spaghetti. The pasta Civetta was the only decent sized portion of the night and was pretty good. While dinner took about 2 hours so a lot of sitting around waiting. We will go elsewhere next time.
Great dinner & best service we’ve had in a while. Our waitress, Peyton did an incredible job. Never had to ask for anything. Would highly recommend sitting in her section!
First time dining here for Queens Feast. Great choice! Food was very authentic!
Went during Restaurant week so the menu was different, but in a good way. Enjoyed sampling different items from my choices and my guests. Service was good but could be little more attentive . food was fabulous . Had the salmon and would recommend . Will be back to sample the other items on their regular menu.
We had a great restaurant week here, where every dish was pretty perfect and the staff was friendly.
We came to try the restaurant during Queens week. Was disappointed with the menu. We were told we had to have two appetizers in place of a dessert. Eating two appetizers and then the meal was way too much. The meal was small and seemed more like a third appetizer.
Will not return
Everyone at Civetta was very attentive and very pleasant as should be. The food was very tasty and enjoyable. My husband and I will definitely visit again. This will be one of our dining places.
Went with a friend for restaurant week to try this restaurant.. was thrilled with everything and will go back very soon!!
Service was attentive and delightful without being overbearing; of the food, all dishes were unique and well crafted.
Second visit for us. Service was a little slow and the waitress seemed a little inexperienced. The pasta was too dry and we had to ask for additional sauce. This is a nice neighborhood restaurant and I’m hoping we just hit them on a bad night
Server was very poor. Was not in the least bit helpful when asked to describe certain dishes.
Food flavor was good everything seemed a little wet. As if they used steam to keep warm or something. Service was good overall good experience.
This was our first time at Civetta, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Queen's Feast gave us a great reason to try it. Even with the event's limited menu, they offered some different and innovative dishes- all well prepared, beautifully presented and delicious! We'll be back!
Absolutely delicious! Italian with a unique flair. We will definitely go back!
Service was outstanding, but the entrees unremarkable. For Italian food, it was notably bland - missing oregano, basil, salt. It was Rest Week, so the cost was OK, but I won’t go back at full price.
Very good restaurant and knowledgeable staff
I'd be willing to give it another chance... but food was only so-so and the service was mediocre. There was a mix up on one of the entrees with our table and the rest of our party ate while this person sat with nothing. The waitress was apologetic however no manager came to address the situation and no compensation was offered. Coming from the customer service business, I always appreciate knowing when there is an area of opportunity for training.
That being said, I would be happy to give them another chance. Atmosphere was very energetic and up beat, and the red sangria was TO DIE FOR!!!!
This was my time dining in this restaurant. My server Nick was professional and polite, and tried his best to be on top of things at a very busy time here. The food is good, however, I will not go any further than that. Patrons going to this restaurant may find certain dishes lacking enough tomato sauce.
What a great evening. The food was outstanding and our waiter, Sam was simply great. Gave good recommendations, talked with us, just a great night. So glad we found Civetta!!!
This was our first time here for date night and it’s such a great place! Ambiance is cozy and very wine driven which we love. Food was amazing! Osso bucco ravioli was light and delicious. Lasagna didn’t disappoint either. We had four different apps and they were all delicious. A great date night place!
Excellent food, excellent service!
Food was delicious and Waitress was amazing. Me and my friend want to restaurant we can really enjoyed ourselves .That was our first time going but we will definitely be back.
Great, very good Italian
The food was very tasty and well presented, my only complaint was that both our dishes were overly salted.
