Service was super slow. Made the reservation and said it was my birthday which the hostess acknowledged but then nothing special was done after that.
Lizzy greeted us at the door and immediately provided us with excellent service. She was great.
Sarah was our server, and she took good care of us from the moment we sat down. Thanks so much!
There was another person (a Latino gentleman) who brought our food but more importantly, he made sure we were comfortable and content.
Thanks to you all for providing us with a wonderful all-around experience!
It was surprisingly energetic for a routine Tuesday evening. Given that this was our 1st restaurant visit EVER in the city of Minneapolis, I'd say we are off to a GREAT start. Thanks to Amanda as well as to the whole team for taking great care of us!!
Long wait for mediocre food, but great atmosphere to watch sports.
The food was great, the service was less than stellar. That is not to say that our server wasn’t friendly or that we didn’t get our food timely, it was that our server was consistently absent. We were served our food and drinks by four different individuals who were not our server. We had to retrieve our own flatware and napkins, we had to ask for appetizer plates, had to flag down a member of the staff just to settle our bill. If it were not for that annoyance we would have given a much better review.
It was my first time there and found a new staple of places to go. I loved everything about it. Staff is friendly and attentive but not overbearing.
Service was great, just not impressed with the food
I've been many times and always enjoy it. Normally great food and service. This visit was a little different. We let our server know we had a show to catch at 7:30pm (our reservation was at 5:45pm) She said we had plenty of time. We ordered and it took over 50min to get our dinner. Our server apologized and said the kitchen was running slow. She assured us the food would be out shortly and that she would bring our bill before the food arrived- so we could just leave as soon as we were done eating. The food arrived and we still have no bill. She finally brought the bill just as we were finishing. We quickly gave our credit card and she never stopped back to pick it up. We waited and waited and then had to hunt down another server to run our card making us late to our event.
City Works is conveniently located and they have a fantastic variety of draft beer. Good selection of burgers along with entrees. The salmon was exceptionally good. Service was fast and friendly, even thought it was a busy Friday evening.
Good food and good tap beer selection. Been there twice and both times service has been slow even though the place was half filled. Friendly server though.
Convenient location, good food, awesome beer selection!
Poor service. Cheese curds had no cheese. Fries weren’t great. Loud. Very average.
Food was okay, mostly just bar food. Good place for watching games and having drinks.
Terrible service. Good luck if you want a second drink
Great prices; good menu; wait staff is excellent. A great way to start off an evening downtown.
My daughter and I had dinner here on a mo day night. We sat on the patio which us at street level. Service was prompt and the waitstaff courteous. We both ordered the same meal 'Pan Seared Salmon'. The presentation was delightful , as was the taste . The portions were good sized. I will definitely return !
Service meh. Food meh.
City Works serves a purpose - a quick and convenient bite before an event at Target center, or to watch a game on one of their 20 or so huge screens. Definitely not a place I would go unless one of those two situations factored in to my plan.
Went here for dinner before a show at the orpheum. Great beer selection. Food was good and reasonably priced. With 90 beers on tap, great options for all, and you can build your own 4 beer flights. Great time.
Food was fantastic! From the chopped salad to the ribs.
First time there. Very impressed with beer and food selection. LOTS of beers available for every taste. Food great and service excellent. Pre-Lynx game...great place.
We ate here recently before a Twins game. The bar was busy, but the restaurant had multiple tables open while we dined. Food and drink options were great. Our server was very attentive until she took our order, and then she dropped off. All of us enjoyed our food, but having to track down the server for drink refills, check, etc was not ideal. The quality and selection of the food and drink outweighed the poor service, so we will go back, but will make sure we give ourselves plenty of time if it happens to be before an event.
Great service! The pork belly bar bites melt in your mouth. BBQ Ribs are some of the best I’ve had in the Twin Cities and the chilly is full of flavor, rich in meat chunks
Horrible service. We were not even given menus when we sat down. We had to ask for them. The service awful. We were out of drinks the entire time.
The majority of the tables were open and there had to have been 5 waiters/ waitresses. Service was so slow I never got offered a second beer and I asked 3 employees for a check because no one was coming to our table. When our actual waiter finally came he was rude. The food was fine, nothing outstanding, and reasonably priced. They do have a very good beer menu which I appreciated.
After making an Open Table reservation before a show we arrived before our reservation time. The hostess said that there would be a wait...So much for the reservation. Then when seats opened in the bar we asked if we could sit in the bar. After being told we could and sat in the bar and reminded the staff that we had the Open Table reservation and got a yeah OK that is no problem. Sever took our order never to be seen again until we got up and he must have thought we were dining and dashing because then came running with ticket in hand. Por service average at best food. Won't be back.
Reservation not found in their system. They were able to quickly accommodate us. But 3 of us got sick 30 minutes after finishing fish tacos. 🤢
We ate here yesterday after attending The Food and Wine Experience. The food was delicious, I highly recommend the cheese curds! So many beer choices! We were seated right away, our drinks were quickly refilled, and the food was really good! Overall, great experience!
Service was so poor had the filet sliders bad with cold fries. Sad
Our food was great - my dairy free substitution was accommodated since they weren't very busy so my fish tacos were amazing!!! Our server was terrific.
The hostess forgot to check us in under out Open Table reservations - so I got dinged by Open Table, but City Works was wonderful!
Service and food were both very good. We were attending a concert at the Target center after. So it was a great place to go and be able to use skyway to stay out of cold. Would definitely go back!!
They did not prepare for game day on a major holiday. The quality of the chef was subpar.
Was out of 3 of the beers that I asked for, got jalapeños on the nachos when asked for no jalapeños. Other than that we had a good time.
This was our first time eating at City Works. We made reservations through Open Table to have dinner before going to a concert at the Target Center. We enjoyed the large selection of both beer and food.
We really enjoyed our evening! Very nice waiter and the food was very good.
Our server, Rayshawn, was fantastic - friendly and accommodating - food was great.
Great experience, food was excellent and fun place to watch a game!
This was my first visit to City Works and I was very impressed by the food and service, the prices were in line with other like restaurants. My daughter and I went for lunch before a matinee at the State Theatre on Saturday. It was quiet when we arrived but started picking up as time went on. Large TV’s to watch college football, but not overwhelming noise at all, I will be back, especially for the food!!
Great Happy hour apps.
City Works never disappoints. The butternut squash soup was amazing!
