Service meh. Food meh.
City Works serves a purpose - a quick and convenient bite before an event at Target center, or to watch a game on one of their 20 or so huge screens. Definitely not a place I would go unless one of those two situations factored in to my plan.
Went here for dinner before a show at the orpheum. Great beer selection. Food was good and reasonably priced. With 90 beers on tap, great options for all, and you can build your own 4 beer flights. Great time.
Food was fantastic! From the chopped salad to the ribs.
First time there. Very impressed with beer and food selection. LOTS of beers available for every taste. Food great and service excellent. Pre-Lynx game...great place.
We ate here recently before a Twins game. The bar was busy, but the restaurant had multiple tables open while we dined. Food and drink options were great. Our server was very attentive until she took our order, and then she dropped off. All of us enjoyed our food, but having to track down the server for drink refills, check, etc was not ideal. The quality and selection of the food and drink outweighed the poor service, so we will go back, but will make sure we give ourselves plenty of time if it happens to be before an event.
Great service! The pork belly bar bites melt in your mouth. BBQ Ribs are some of the best I’ve had in the Twin Cities and the chilly is full of flavor, rich in meat chunks
Horrible service. We were not even given menus when we sat down. We had to ask for them. The service awful. We were out of drinks the entire time.
The majority of the tables were open and there had to have been 5 waiters/ waitresses. Service was so slow I never got offered a second beer and I asked 3 employees for a check because no one was coming to our table. When our actual waiter finally came he was rude. The food was fine, nothing outstanding, and reasonably priced. They do have a very good beer menu which I appreciated.
After making an Open Table reservation before a show we arrived before our reservation time. The hostess said that there would be a wait...So much for the reservation. Then when seats opened in the bar we asked if we could sit in the bar. After being told we could and sat in the bar and reminded the staff that we had the Open Table reservation and got a yeah OK that is no problem. Sever took our order never to be seen again until we got up and he must have thought we were dining and dashing because then came running with ticket in hand. Por service average at best food. Won't be back.
Reservation not found in their system. They were able to quickly accommodate us. But 3 of us got sick 30 minutes after finishing fish tacos. 🤢
We ate here yesterday after attending The Food and Wine Experience. The food was delicious, I highly recommend the cheese curds! So many beer choices! We were seated right away, our drinks were quickly refilled, and the food was really good! Overall, great experience!
Service was so poor had the filet sliders bad with cold fries. Sad
Our food was great - my dairy free substitution was accommodated since they weren't very busy so my fish tacos were amazing!!! Our server was terrific.
The hostess forgot to check us in under out Open Table reservations - so I got dinged by Open Table, but City Works was wonderful!
Service and food were both very good. We were attending a concert at the Target center after. So it was a great place to go and be able to use skyway to stay out of cold. Would definitely go back!!
They did not prepare for game day on a major holiday. The quality of the chef was subpar.
Was out of 3 of the beers that I asked for, got jalapeños on the nachos when asked for no jalapeños. Other than that we had a good time.
This was our first time eating at City Works. We made reservations through Open Table to have dinner before going to a concert at the Target Center. We enjoyed the large selection of both beer and food.
We really enjoyed our evening! Very nice waiter and the food was very good.
Our server, Rayshawn, was fantastic - friendly and accommodating - food was great.
Great experience, food was excellent and fun place to watch a game!
This was my first visit to City Works and I was very impressed by the food and service, the prices were in line with other like restaurants. My daughter and I went for lunch before a matinee at the State Theatre on Saturday. It was quiet when we arrived but started picking up as time went on. Large TV’s to watch college football, but not overwhelming noise at all, I will be back, especially for the food!!
Great Happy hour apps.
City Works never disappoints. The butternut squash soup was amazing!
Initially it was VERY loud with sports on the televisions everywhere but did quiet down to a nice music after a bit. Definitely more of a Sports Bar vibe than what I was looking for though - still good and lots of beer choices!
This was our first time going to City Works and we were definitely pleased! Made a reservation just in case since it was a Friday night, but there was plenty of open spots the evening we went prior to hitting up a comedy show downtown. Very energetic, fun atmosphere! The food was good and the service was top notch as well! Great place to hit up prior to or after a show/game downtown Minneapolis!
This was an okay restaurant. We had a reservation and asked to be seated in one of the 6 booths that were open and were not allowed because we didn't ask specifically in our reservation. Most of the booths remained open the entire time we were there. The food was ok. Burger was dry. The fries were decent (I ate them all). I had a cocktail and it was weak. So many other good choices to eat downtown, I think I'll pass City Works by next time.
Amazing service. Great food and drinks! Tried the monthly specials - frenchie burger and brisket sandwich. Yum!
Had a good meal and fun time watching football prior to Target Center concert. Wild mushroom flatbread was yummy!
The food was fine but I felt as though we had at least five different servers. It was a busy night and we mostly wanted a place to watch college football. Completely serviceable with a nice beer selection.
As usual, the visit to City Works was a good one. The beer choices are great and the service is usually pretty good.
Decent place that feels a bit too Applebee’s at times. The refined menu is good for just about anyone - nothing too daring. The beer list is insane, and the happy hour is a great deal.
Had a very tasty black and blue burger and a couple of vanilla porters with friends. Nice place with a huge beer on tap selection.
I liked this restaurant but it was too noisy. It was convenient to the Pantages Theater and that is why we picked it.
We had reservations for dinner but was sat in the bar area. The service was horrible. We had to ask our server 3 times for silverware and she was missing for at least half of the meal. When she finally came back to the table she seemed annoyed that we were asking for a refill or for another drink.
Great beer menu and happy hour apps! Our waitress (Crystal) was fantastic!
If you go to City Works on a weekend, prepare for a VERY loud dining experience. We went on a Friday night during college football, and we had to shout at each other during conversation. For an upscale sports bar, there were a lot of obnoxious, drunk grown ups. The food is excellent. Go on a week night.
First time will not go back again waitress was to busy talking everybody else she knew and took 20mins to pick up our check so pay and asked for ranch she went and talk to someone else for 10mins before going to get it
Food was delicious. Prompt and friendly service. Allison and Nathan were quick and on top of everything. It was quiet when we were there but has the ability to get quite busy with all of the big screen tvs. Can't wait to go back
We came to Minneapolis to hang out for the night and after seeing this place from a bar across the street we deceided to make the switch . Our server Carlos was great . We just ordered apps, drank ,had dessert and people watched . The outside tables were great for that . I think there were over 90 beers on tap ! Fun place !
