We ate here yesterday after attending The Food and Wine Experience. The food was delicious, I highly recommend the cheese curds! So many beer choices! We were seated right away, our drinks were quickly refilled, and the food was really good! Overall, great experience!
Service was so poor had the filet sliders bad with cold fries. Sad
Our food was great - my dairy free substitution was accommodated since they weren't very busy so my fish tacos were amazing!!! Our server was terrific.
The hostess forgot to check us in under out Open Table reservations - so I got dinged by Open Table, but City Works was wonderful!
Service and food were both very good. We were attending a concert at the Target center after. So it was a great place to go and be able to use skyway to stay out of cold. Would definitely go back!!
They did not prepare for game day on a major holiday. The quality of the chef was subpar.
Was out of 3 of the beers that I asked for, got jalapeños on the nachos when asked for no jalapeños. Other than that we had a good time.
This was our first time eating at City Works. We made reservations through Open Table to have dinner before going to a concert at the Target Center. We enjoyed the large selection of both beer and food.
We really enjoyed our evening! Very nice waiter and the food was very good.
Our server, Rayshawn, was fantastic - friendly and accommodating - food was great.
Great experience, food was excellent and fun place to watch a game!
This was my first visit to City Works and I was very impressed by the food and service, the prices were in line with other like restaurants. My daughter and I went for lunch before a matinee at the State Theatre on Saturday. It was quiet when we arrived but started picking up as time went on. Large TV’s to watch college football, but not overwhelming noise at all, I will be back, especially for the food!!
Great Happy hour apps.
City Works never disappoints. The butternut squash soup was amazing!
Initially it was VERY loud with sports on the televisions everywhere but did quiet down to a nice music after a bit. Definitely more of a Sports Bar vibe than what I was looking for though - still good and lots of beer choices!
This was our first time going to City Works and we were definitely pleased! Made a reservation just in case since it was a Friday night, but there was plenty of open spots the evening we went prior to hitting up a comedy show downtown. Very energetic, fun atmosphere! The food was good and the service was top notch as well! Great place to hit up prior to or after a show/game downtown Minneapolis!
This was an okay restaurant. We had a reservation and asked to be seated in one of the 6 booths that were open and were not allowed because we didn't ask specifically in our reservation. Most of the booths remained open the entire time we were there. The food was ok. Burger was dry. The fries were decent (I ate them all). I had a cocktail and it was weak. So many other good choices to eat downtown, I think I'll pass City Works by next time.
Amazing service. Great food and drinks! Tried the monthly specials - frenchie burger and brisket sandwich. Yum!
Had a good meal and fun time watching football prior to Target Center concert. Wild mushroom flatbread was yummy!
The food was fine but I felt as though we had at least five different servers. It was a busy night and we mostly wanted a place to watch college football. Completely serviceable with a nice beer selection.
As usual, the visit to City Works was a good one. The beer choices are great and the service is usually pretty good.
Decent place that feels a bit too Applebee’s at times. The refined menu is good for just about anyone - nothing too daring. The beer list is insane, and the happy hour is a great deal.
Had a very tasty black and blue burger and a couple of vanilla porters with friends. Nice place with a huge beer on tap selection.
I liked this restaurant but it was too noisy. It was convenient to the Pantages Theater and that is why we picked it.
We had reservations for dinner but was sat in the bar area. The service was horrible. We had to ask our server 3 times for silverware and she was missing for at least half of the meal. When she finally came back to the table she seemed annoyed that we were asking for a refill or for another drink.
Great beer menu and happy hour apps! Our waitress (Crystal) was fantastic!
If you go to City Works on a weekend, prepare for a VERY loud dining experience. We went on a Friday night during college football, and we had to shout at each other during conversation. For an upscale sports bar, there were a lot of obnoxious, drunk grown ups. The food is excellent. Go on a week night.
First time will not go back again waitress was to busy talking everybody else she knew and took 20mins to pick up our check so pay and asked for ranch she went and talk to someone else for 10mins before going to get it
Food was delicious. Prompt and friendly service. Allison and Nathan were quick and on top of everything. It was quiet when we were there but has the ability to get quite busy with all of the big screen tvs. Can't wait to go back
We came to Minneapolis to hang out for the night and after seeing this place from a bar across the street we deceided to make the switch . Our server Carlos was great . We just ordered apps, drank ,had dessert and people watched . The outside tables were great for that . I think there were over 90 beers on tap ! Fun place !
The decor is sportsbar with dozens of great beer choices on tap. The awesome surprise is the innovative food options. You can get good standard offerings but try the mac-n-cheese. You won't be disappointed
Not prepared for a busy Saturday night downtown! Took at least 10 minutes to get a drink after ordering and our food took 45 minutes (mind you our order was apps, soup/salad, and a wrap). The staff seemed a bit flustered and unorganized. Drinks were good but not necessarily worth the wait or price.
Disappointed in them advertising shark week specials and it being on tv. Made a special occasion of shark week fans looking for something cool and finding out they had it on one lower tv in the corner and no offering by the waitstaff of the advertised shark week drink combos. Very disappointed.
Service was very, very good, apps and drinks during happy hour a good value, attended before a Twins game
We went here because it was my 22 year old sons' birthday and he said this was his "new" favorite place. I had the farm raised Salmon, the presentation was very appealing, taste was mouth-watering. He had the Duck Rueben and loved it. (he said the Duck Nachos were "the bomb" but we didn't get them as I don't care for Duck) I was very pleased with the experience, I will definitely be back!
Fantastic food! Everything was so delicious!!! Definitely get the pretzel bites the Gouda cheese dip is so good! I got the rigatoni and it was so good spicy but not overly hot. My friend got the shrimp tacos and she loved them my other friend got a burger she loved and the fries were spectacular!
Food was very good and service was, too. Very friendly staff. Great beer selection, well described and the wall display was visible from the opposite side of the restaurant. Great first impression!
Seems very quiet in the restaurant, maybe need to do more promotional marketing to acquire more customers.
We ordered a couple of plates to share, the buffalo shrimp and the crab fondue. We also ordered a couple of drinks from their "mule" selections. The mules were good and reasonably priced for the downtown location.
The two plates to share were small appetizers, weren't very good and were $30. So, in my opinion they were overpriced by about 30%-40%.
This was our firs time being here so we only have this limited experience but If you do go here I would expect good beer selection and reasonably priced cocktails. Our experience told us the food is not worth the money. Total bill was $100 for two small appetizers and four drinks including tax and tip.
If you don't drink beer, don't bother going. Highly overpriced wine! Very limited menu, but what we ordered was good.
Similar to a Crave-type eatery. Lots of beers to choose from. My date enjoyed the shrimp tacos. The bbq chicken salad was good. Service was ok, not speedy.
