The Barrel Room, our elegant restaurant and tasting room at City Winery, provides a relaxing and candlelit ambiance where diners can enjoy wine on tap made just next door. City Winery is the only fully functioning winery in New York City, but we also offer a fine dining menu with options for a full dinner or small plates to accompany a few glasses of our house made wine. In the Barrel Room our wine is poured straight from the barrel into your glass with no added preservatives or extra sulfates, giving it a taste that cannot be replicated. We got married here and this was our celebration of our marriage. Alex was great! Wish we could see her every time we go out to eat. She made the night Beverly special.

Convenient to the venue if going to concert. Food is very tasty. Our waiter was very friendly and pleasan. The kitchen needs to coordinate better with getting the food out in a timely fashion.

If you plan to go see a show at the Live Concert venue, at City Winery -next door, usually beginning at 8:00 pm., I recommend making a dinner reservation via Open Table., at the Barrel Room. It makes a perfect spot to eat before the doors open.
I usually eat here before shows at the City Winery. The food is consistently good and the wine & service is excellent.
We came here for dinner prior to seeing a show in the loft. We were disappointed in the service. Food orders were either poorly timed or forgotten. Though we were told that food would come out as it is ready, we didn’t expect two of us to finish our meal before the other two orders came out. After asking twice, it would appear two orders were forgotten.
They may have been having a bad night. Everyone is entitled. However, there was no apology from a server or manager. It left us feeling as they didn’t care. This having been our first time, we aren’t sure we’ll come back for food before a show.
The food however, was pretty good. Flatbread pizzas, burgers, etc., all good.
Good wines and good food. But both our appetizer and dinner dishes were not put in timely and we had to repeatedly ask for it. They did come us out drinks though so that was very nice of them.
A decent place to eat before a show at the winery, but not necessarily a destination spot. Not a great selection of food but lots of wine. My friend wanted a sweet type of wine but there wasn't any. If you just want a burger & fries, it's great.
Took my mom here for Mother’s Day and we all loved it! The wine is delicious as is the food. We got the red wine flight and enjoyed all three varieties. We were in the smaller barrel room which was much more intimate than the larger restaurant. We absolutely loved everything about this place and would definitely go back!
Overpriced. Uninspired brunch menu. Inedible and tasteless food (stale potatoes and bread). The worst hummus I ever tasted and it was served freezing cold on a cold rainy day. Coffee served in paper cups. Had to ask for milk (it was not offered). Had to ask for salt and pepper (it was not offered).
Took my mum there for Mother's Day and was extremely disappointed and upset with what was a subpar experience. Your brunch menu needs to be revised. There should be a better choice of breakfast and lunch items on it. Also, you ran out of pancakes.
Great pre-concert drinks and dinner. I preferred their cocktails over their wine and had a superb margarita pizza! Great vibe, casual and excellent servers.
Wine flights from city winery pricey and not too tasty. Service - really nice guy but first day and forgot to put our order in and. Forgot one of our appetizers.

Food and service was good. Had dinner before going up to the Loft. A little noisy and tight.
We were among the first to sit down during dinner rush. While we waited for our waitress, the whole place filled up. It was 40 minutes before the first of our food hit the table, a salad. We asked about the soup of the day and the waitress told us that the specials menu was being printed. We asked her to find out what the soup was and when we finally found her again she said that she didn't know yet, meaning she never asked. The waitress told us that they had a big party in the afternoon and that's why things are a little behind. As a sign of how disorganized they were, the garbage in the bathroom was overflowing at the beginning of the dinner rush. I would not want to see what it looked like at the end of the evening.
Richard, I am so sorry to hear about your experience in our Barrel Room. It is embarrassing to hear about these service issues and the condition of the restrooms. We went for the show and it was great. Intimate setting with a great view.
Service was poor from the start as we waited at the host’s stand for five minutes, even as multiple employees told us that someone was coming. This place is small, and there was one open reserved table we knew was ours and had to wait until a waitress/bartender told us we could sit down. The food was fine, nothing special, and the employees were chatting so much I had to go up to the bar to ask for the check because it was impossible to get the waitress’ attention. It was then impossible to get her to come get the check from us and someone else had to bring it to her. I wish this place was better because the venue seems cool but I probably won’t return.

Mainly a very noisy bar/restaurant. Food was OK, service good.
Very unimpressed. Food was acceptable, but not worth the price. Service was very poor-staff didn't even know specials-I had to request that they find out. Wouldn't return-too many other places with better food and service!

Great venue for live music and amazing wine however I would not recommend their grilled chicken. I asked for grilled chicken on a salad and it was very dry. I have never had lunch here before but I don't think that is a normal fare for them.
Truffle mac and cheese had no truffle taste whatsoever but the tuna sandwich was good

Good place. Food and service were good. I was able to hang out for a while working while I waited for a client. Would come back at night for dinner if I had the chance.
Food was delicious and well-presented. Only detail is that we had a large table,8 people, and food service was not timed very well. The mains arrived in pairs, with a delay of at least one or two minutes between servings.
Music and sound level was great, just enough to provide great ambiance but not to be intrussive.
Service was very friendly and good.

The Wine is AMAZING. The food is not. Stick with cheese.
This was an amazing experience. I highly recommend that you make the City Winery a regular stop. (PS - Don't miss the Tommy Emmanuel concert coming up)
Decent food and very good wine. Service slowed as the restaurant got busier.
We attended a New Year’s Eve pre-concert meal with several courses and pairing wines. The staff attended to my dietary needs with respect to my food allergies. The meal and wines were delicious. The service was outstanding. We were checked up on regularly and any requests were granted right away. This was an outstanding dining experience.
P.S. The concert by the Fab Faux was pretty good, too!
Great birthday lunch!
Avoid this place for brunch at all costs!!! Surly staff. My hubby is right. Never go to a wine bar for brunch. Mean people . They took 15 minutes to tell us they were out of bacon. They drop the Riesling and the port several minutes apart. Awkward. I ordered the lemon buckwheat pancakes which were both burned and crazy raw in the middle. 20 minutes go buy and they don't bring the replacement order so we decide it's just time to cut our losses after the hubby shares his French toast. No apologies, no explanation from the staff. And after 3 minutes they walk buy and demand to pick up the bill (we're finishing up drinking up the wine - which again, was super awkward). On the plus side, still very hungry we end up walking down Spring Street to Boqueria for some outstanding churros and sherry.
Unfortunately, I had high hopes for this restaurant but everything that could go wrong did. We had people constantly being escorted through our table to the music venue; the entrees all came out well before our appetizers and they actually insisted that our entrees be eaten first; once we sent back the entrees and received the appetizers, the entrees we later got back were clearly the same entrees that we wrongly sent out to us, which were barely even warm; the air conditioning was blasting us in the dead of winter even though we asked repeatedly for it to be turned off (but were told it controls the music venue too so couldn’t be turned off); and then when we complained about our awful dining experience and the manager finally arrived to apologize, the bill came and had nothing removed or discounted! Hands down, the worst dining experience I’ve ever had.

I must say this was the worst dinner experience I've ever had in my life! I made reservations at 8p for a group of 6 to celebrate a birthday because we had tickets to the burlesque show upstairs at 10p. We were seated pretty quickly which was great but then it all went down hill from there. We ordered a bottle of wine from a promotional menu they were offering. in the mean time we ordered 3 appetizers and our entrees at the same time to make sure we have enough time to eat and go upstairs to the show. This is now 40 min into our reservation. We ask for the manger to find out about the bottle of wine and Leila the manager/hostess apologized and mentioned they couldn't find the bottle so they would offer something similar instead. Fine we will take that. It's now well past 9p and 2 of the 3 appetizers come out which were not hot at all. We ask about the last appetizer and again we get an apology that is not sincere or timely. Our entrees start to arrive and we all notice that the food is lukewarm. Once again, food is missing from the order an entree and two sides. Since the food was lukewarm and time was a concern, we decide to start eating while we wait for the last entree to arrive. We had to ask multiple times about the last entree and side. At 9:45p, the missing appetizer arrives. We send it back because we already finished eating our entrees. And five minutes later at 9:50p the missing entree arrives. Long story short horrible customer service on all parts. The waitress did not care about the service she should have provided and Leila the manager was not very sincere with her apologies. I DO NOT recommend this place at all and will never go back there again.
H O R R I B L E This Was the Worst brunch we have ever had -after sitting with menus for over 30 minutes they took them away saying it was the wrong menu but did not bring us a new menu said they were being printed when we finally did get the new menus and finally ordered everything came out piecemeal French toast was burned omlets had no eggs Just brought us plates with the filling ! they didn’t know whether one item was a frittata or an omelette -they took the mystery dish back to the kitchen waited until it got cold decided that the omelette was a frittata and brought it back out to the table Asked to speak to the manager who did not even want to hear the problems just said oh here comes your meal now everything should be fine ok they reworked the omlets by stuffing the filling into a folded egg - there was no cheese or creme freshe as listed on the menu, found egg shells in the egg and hair on the bacon. Manager John W was extremely rude and only wanted to speak to one of the men not the women in our party He comped the meal which was the right thing to do but we left hungry and with no time to stop and eat again . The wait staff was also at their wits end said they were emailing management because this keeps happening .
