City Winery Chicago
The wines are exceptional: Grapes are imported from renowned regions around the country, then crushed and aged on site. Wines are poured by the glass or bottle, with many available on tap.
The menu features Mediterranean-inspired small plates designed to complement our extensive wine list. Burrata, arancini, flatbreads, and hearty meat dishes are varied enough to please a diverse crowd over a few rounds of wine. Servers are happy to point you toward their favorite bites and paired wines, and with a concert next door almost any given night, dinner at City Winery means there’s always something fun to experience.

While in town with the National Restaurant Show our group was excited to check out City Winery after hearing nothing but greatness about their locations. We grabbed a dinner reservation for a party of 14 (actually ended up seating 10 or 11)
The place was empty, yet we continually had to go to the bar to get our drinks. When present our waiter served the wrong drinks to the wrong guests. Numerous of us ordered reds. We were surprised when our glasses of Pinot Noir and Zinfandel were served CHILLED.
Every protein was served severely over cooked. One guest was served his salad after entree plates were cleared from the full party. When issues were brought to the attention of both our server and bartender NOTHING was addressed. At no point did a manager check in on our experience, nor did they come out to address the table after poor service was noted.
After hearing the reputation of what a great brand and experience City Winery provides we were severely disappointed. Hopefully this single location is an oddity to what is known as a great chain.
had a great table for a big group up the stairs, very attentive service, shared a lot of good dishes, lovely wine reasonable priced, did get kicked out at the end of the night and felt rushed on a fri night they closed at 11.
We chose to dine before the Lizz Wright show, thinking there was going to be a great menu to choose from that was related to her concert. Had no idea it was going to be just 3 items. Kinda surprised, but we managed to find awesome selections anyway. The duck tacos were nothing short of amazing! Highly recommend them! We also enjoyed a burger and pulled pork. All expertly prepared and so quickly delivered to our table! Another exemplary experience here! We will return! Love your venue! Lizz’s concert was thoroughly enjoyable as well! Cannot wait to see her again!!
went for a dinner with friends. waited a while for a server manager took our drink order waited again for server tuna overcooked was disappointed as have eaten there before
This was a mother's day surprise for my sister visiting from new Orleans and she was very impressed with the ambiance and the vast wine selection. The food was so delicious we are already planning to come again to see a performer at the venue.
Wine and ambiance were great but was underwhelmed by the food and the service was alright. Our server was very nice but we were in the semi-private room and they probably needed more staff for Mother's Day. It also seemed like they forgot about our party or reservation as we had to wait about 20 minutes for our table to be set up.
I took my mother and my family to City Winery for Mother’s Day. They had bottomless mimosas and good brunch menu. The French toast, steak & eggs, and crab cake. There is plenty of room and plenty of drink options to choose from. I will definitely come back again for the music shows, food and drinks.
Great experience for a family reunion. Thank you,
City Winery has a lot to offer! We ate a delicious dinner in the main dining room and enjoyed great service. Looking forward to coming back again for a band or entertainment experience.
So loud you can barely hear the person across from you
Food and ambiance were great! Loved the burrata and the shrimp appetizers!
Made the reservation when we arrived the restaurant has been closed 15 minutes prior to our reservation.
Food was fine. We were seated at a table too big for our group, so with the noise level we couldn’t really talk to each other. They didn’t bring a wine menu, this is supposed to be a wine restaurant right? Our waitress forgot to put in our appetizer so it came out late and with our food. Generally the service was very poor. This was a horrible place to spend our evening.
Always excellent with service & level of food. Certainly ideal for wine selection. Had excellent service with Tia- very enjoyable.
We visited City Winery for a business dinner with clients -- a total of 12 of us. The service was ridiculously slow and inattentive -- in spite of the restaurant not seemingly that busy. We ordered appetizers which were delivered in a reasonable amount of time. However, the waitress left and did not return for 30 minutes - I had to flag her down to come take our orders. The appetizer plates were not removed from the table for another 30 minutes and, when they were, the dirty silverware was removed from the plates and placed on the table for use with our main courses! The food was just 'o.k.'. My risotto was more like a large bowl of brown rice -- somewhat watery rather than creamy; the 'ribeye' was like a sirloin - really tough; some had the halibut, the pasta, the duck tacos, etc. Everyone said their food was just 'o.k.' And everyone said the service was the worst part of the evening. I will not go back to City Winery -- with or without clients. Really disappointing.
Food was amazing! Burrata is a must try and wine selection is great!
Great experience! We had a group of 10 for a work dinner and our waiter was extremely patient and accommodating with our questions and food restrictions.
Love this venue for dinner and a show. The staff is phenomenal as is the food and wine. I always get the Burrata and West Loop Red...absolutely amazing!!
It was pretty dead when we first walked in. Very slow. The server looked like she had a large amount of tables over the course of the hour we were there. And as things progressed, she just couldn’t keep up. We only saw her 3 times our entire meal. The easiest thing we ordered was a chia parfait and it took 20 min to be delivered to the table AFTER all the rest of the food. And it had no toppings. They removed it from the bill. And it took 20 min to track her down to get the bill. Food was ok.
Sunday brunch "home run" for our group of 16. Last minute reservation find on Open Table because our planner (me) forgot to make reservations. The restaurant was extremely helpful in making our big group feel at home. Food and drinks were excellent and everyone was happy with the brunch choices here, even the vegans. Highly recommend this place for big or small groups. It looks like they also have some great live music here in the evenings. I will definitely plan to come again.
I went here for a birthday brunch on Sunday. I marked that it was for a birthday on Opentable and we were greeted with a birthday sign on the table, a champagne toast, and then a free dessert! They made it so special for my friend’s birthday.
Pretty good experience. We were the only group in the room, which was great. Music was a little loud and I was worried I'd walk out smelling like a campfire but overall a good experience.
Excellent location, wine list
We were sat in the corner and there was not much activity in the restaurant. Our server came over and spoke a mile a minute--literally didn't breath as he hurriedly tried to get us to purchase a mimosa carafe before bounding off. He came back several minutes later and we ordered. After sitting for about 20 minutes, one of our meals came from a food runner who dropped it off and ran away. It's presentation was less than desirable. Then we sat there waiting for the other meal to arrive, my food growing colder, as we tried to flag down our server or anyone for that matter. About 15 minutes later, the other dish still hadn't arrived and the table behind us who sat later than we had were given their meals (and our server still hadn't come by), I finally went up to the front desk to alert them to the issue. At this point, we had to leave, unfed and unsatisfied. Not a great experience at all.
I will never eat here again. Service was sooo slow and the food was okay (not worth the $$). We ordered mimosas and did not get them until we finished eating our meal. We tried to grab anyone's attention and it was like they wanted to avoid you. Worst service I have ever had- there were maybe 12 people there so it was not like they were too busy to help us.
Wonderful ambience for the oenophile and the rest of us. And with a great outdoor area in the spring. Modern California type fresh cuisine wll informed.
What a great experience! Amazing space well utilized. Came for brunch/lunch and will be back for sure. Two glasses of complementary champagne each with an amazing meal was an added bonus.
City Winery great for eating and more importantly to wonderful music. We have been many times- worthwhile joining Membership that can allow you 'free' parking and key advance notice on upcoming concerts. As the weather changes in spring, eating/drinking space will also move to outside. Overall food and wine, combined with service has always been high to 'excellent' level. Enjoy!!
We had reserved a table for dinner after our company's board of director meetings. City Winery service was the poorest I have ever experienced in a restaurant. A meal for one of our party failed to materialize, after we complained the manager came out to inquire if one of us had consumed two meals! Unbelievable. His exact words were someone had "allegedly not received their entrée", when the individual involved had no plate in front of him! The waiter hardly visited our table and the manager was absolutely unprofessional. Will never return; do not recommend.
I honestly do not know why, but there were not enough servers. It was a Sunday, but that shouldn't matter. Our waiter was great, but just needed help.
I've never written a bad review until now. We've dined several times before and will not go back following this experience. We were hosting out of town guests and it was uncomfortable from the start with a hostess that couldn't smile or offer a greeting. We went for Sunday brunch and we were the only table seated at the time. When the waiter arrived almost a full 10 minutes after we were seated, we learned they that for that day they were offering only a limited "lunch menu" not the brunch menu that is posted and the waiter couldn't offer any explanation. Nothing about this was posted on the website when we made the reservation. The service was horribly slow, and though we did not have a time constraint when we arrived, we ended up having to rush to get our guests to the airport. After waiting nearly an hour, we had to hunt down the waiter three times about our food, missing meals and we ultimately received an incorrect meal. Because of the long delay, the guest chose to just keep the meal (of which he only ate a fraction) instead of waiting for the correct meal to be made and delivered. Despite asking, we never received fresh coffee, water or drinks. Even when we received an incorrect meal, there was no apology, no explanation for the poor service, and no offer to adjust the bill. An apology goes a long way with me, so the fact that there was never any apology offered about the menu changes, slow service, incorrect meals, or ignored requests for water and coffee, is unforgivable.
Our server Kaley was wonderful! Our food came out very quickly
Great Concert venue
Great service . We had a happy birthday sign on our table when we arrived .
Excellent service and delicious brunch.
Great for large groups.
Please see my request, i wanted an area that was quiet. I realize that the ambience here is lively. I expected it to be a bit energetic. It was fine until there was a dj, which we were not warned about by any one from the restaurant. The server was not very attentive. The cheese board was terrible. We ordered calamari that was never delivered. I've been disappointed by this place several times. I won't be back or suggest it.
This was a great place for a date. The Deviled eggs were amazing!
Service was superb! The manager gave us a brief tour of the winery and the theater. Our waitress was especially accommodating. It was a great afternoon of some old college friends getting together!
We had a feeling that nobody care about customer.
We made reservations, we never got our 100 points and more confirm , that we was not so important.
