City Winery Chicago
The wines are exceptional: Grapes are imported from renowned regions around the country, then crushed and aged on site. Wines are poured by the glass or bottle, with many available on tap.
The menu features Mediterranean-inspired small plates designed to complement our extensive wine list. Burrata, arancini, flatbreads, and hearty meat dishes are varied enough to please a diverse crowd over a few rounds of wine. Servers are happy to point you toward their favorite bites and paired wines, and with a concert next door almost any given night, dinner at City Winery means there’s always something fun to experience.

We had a very mediocre experience. Service was only fair and they weren’t busy. The food was ok, but nothing special stands out and we tried a number of different things. We will be taking a pass on dining here in the future.
The decor of the building was nice. However, the service was slow and the food was subpar. It took a long time to get our drinks and food was even longer. My husband had to ask for his food. We were in town on a Day Trip and I was truly disappointed!!!
We had dinner at the restaurant prior to the Vivian Greene concert because the concert area is very cramped . The duck tacos were very good along with the Brussels sprouts but my steak was prepared incorrectly and had to be sent back
Our server was great. Friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Food was well prepared but lacked punch. Maybe it's that way to highlight the wine. The wine was decent, although there were too many from California. Overall, we will go back. Nice night out.
Worst part of City Winery is that its not closer to me in the western suburbs. I love it. If it were closer, I"d go more often. I also loved it so much that I'd wish that they'd have more of my genre of music. I loved getting there early. Loved the food. Entertainment was spectacular. Came back and told my employees that I'll take a group of them back. Already gave the info to 3 friends. Love Love Love....BTW...I'm a food and music snob. It takes a lot for me to make this sort of a compliment.
Food and atmosphere was great! The noise level was perfect for a business lunch.
Our food came out not cooked properly and then we sent it back and they forgot about it. We had to ask for water refills and second cocktails. It wasn’t busy in the dining room at all and I had to ask for second drinks and for our appetizer plates to be removed from the table.
The food was amazing! Worth it. Wine recommendations were top notch.
The food was very good but we had a really bad service experience. Our server was barely present. They never offered us a second drink and never stopped by long enough for us to even ask for one. When we asked the host where our server was, we were told they would be by but they still did not stop by for another long while. We never got our second drink, deciding to just leave and go somewhere else. This is very disappointing because this was our anniversary.
Happy Hour with 12 of us after work, all of the apps and paired wines were delicious. Service impeccable, left us to our devices and always checking in to see what else we needed. Stayed long after check was signed and received no feeling of needing to head out early. Would recommend and come back often!
We came for dinner to celebrate our 1st year Anniversary. It was a first time visit for him (I've come in the past for drinks with girlfriends). Dinner was okay but for it to be okay, we thought it to be very pricey ($131 minus the tip). We had spinach dip starter, a glass of Moscato each and we both had the steak frites (steak and french fries...I would have rather had a vegetable with it instead). The waitress came and told us that there was absolutely, NO STEAK SAUCE.... in the entire place! How does that happen in an establishment like THAT one? Needless to say, we weren't happy about that and it took our dining experience down a bit. We later moved into the concert hall to hear the featured artist and it was an amazing experience. Very intimate but the seating was extremely too tight in that area and after the performance was over, we had to wait 15-20 minutes for the waitress to bring us the check for the drinks we had inside. My overall rating is a 3 star....but that was more related to the musical experience.
This was a good place for a group, however the service was just ok . Everyone that ordered fries received cold fries. The burgers were well done when some were requested to be cooked medium. The server brought more fries, some of which were still cold, and a new burger. The burger was much better the 2nd time around. Somewhat disappointing overall experience for girl's trip.
Food was just okay they did not have any jalapeno or serano to spice things up
Service was fine. No major problems but nothing special
A friend’s birthday
I moved to the city almost 4 years ago & I was so excited to FINALLY check this off my bucket list. Such a disappointment. The wine was awful & the service was even worse. The food was mediocre at best. I never write bad reviews, but such a waste of time & money.
Amazing food and wine! Service was top notch!
We had a wonderful dinner and the cocktails (Lemon Drop Martini - delicious) and wine tasting was great! This is my third time at the City Winery and each time has been a wonderful evening out!!
We were celebrating our anniversary and we were treated to champagne and cheesecake. Our server was very attentive.
Great brunch, great service courtesy of Matt, TJ, and now Gabriel. Perfect!
Food was great. Wine was great. Service was horrible. Waitress rarely checked on us. I had to ask a bartender for the check after we waited for a half hour and couldn’t find her.
Bill was a fantastic server! Thanks for a wonderful evening.
Our food was served cold. As well as the steak wasn’t cooked correctly, sent it back, brought a new one, and that one was over cooked. The place is beautiful inside and out but the food was very much lacking for the price paid
We had an awesome time at City Winery. We were given a free tasting sample upon our arrival. The wine was delicious and the food was very tasty. I would recommend to anyone visiting the Chicago area of a nice meal and great ambiance.
We had a delicious lunch on the patio on a beautiful day. Our server, Bill, was attentive and helpful with all of my questions. Manager Matt showed us around the venue as we are considering it for a future event.
Definitely felt like I paid for the area and atmosphere versus quality food. Extremely small menu! I ordered the Risotto and added shrimp, the risotto was way too hard. The Margarita's tasted good!
Delicious food and wine, beautiful setting. Our server Tia was absolutely wonderful! Knowledgeable, personable, and so fun. Would recommend for sure - big group or small.
City Winery was amazing! Lovely atmosphere and our server was very nice.
Overall the experience was lackluster. It took nearly 25 minutes for us to get a glass of wine after being seated due to confusion between staff. After that, the staff didn’t make any effort to make up for it. No percentage off the bill, desert etc. Food was okay, nothing great. Prices are overall okay for the West Loop, but since the food and wine were nothing special I won’t be back. Also we were headed to the United Center for a concert and it took forever to get the bill.
Love the City Winery dining and concert experience. Great concert venue, love the menu, wine and service are always excellent.
Ben was great server. Great recommendations and the food was delicious!
However we wanted to buy some bottles of wine to go and the customer service at the store counter was lacking. Including the Manager talking down to his employees in front of customers. Not cool!
I use to like this place more. Food wasn't very good, especially for the price. Ambiance also use to be a bit more upscale. Place has gone down hill a bit.
Very good service and our server Adam was the best!
Asia,Adam and TJ did a very great job today as joint managers and servers. Kudos to all for a superb brunch.
It would have been 5 stars but there was a mixup in the kitchen and one of our party members didn’t get her food. She ended up getting it to go a half hour later but we weren’t sure why it was such a debacle.
Not sure where to begin. Our server was extremely nice and at the same time very inept. Our drink order took a long time to receive. When our food arrived it was lukewarm and we still had to wait to get our silverware. The server kept forgetting to bring our check and had to be tracked down. Luckily we were able to pay in cash or we would still be waiting.
The place was fabulous but the experience was ok. We expected the wine and food to be way better. We felt that the wine was average. We also felt that there wasn’t enough goat cheese in the mushroom and goat cheese risotto balls, the calamari was average, and the braised duck tacos needed a little bit more spice and heat to it. But nonetheless, the place looks amazing, just needed a little work on the food. We would probably try something else the next time we go there.
Had a wonderful scallops special - so good that I would LOVE to have the recipe - outstanding wine, so-so dessert - our server Sally C was OUTSTANDING - my dinner companion is vegan, and Sally was terrific in advising her all the best vegan dishes, having a clear understanding of ingredients and cooking methods used. She was "just right" attentive and could not have been more pleasant - THANK YOU SALLY C!
The food was not very good. We both had the Beyond Burger and it was over cooked and dry. The fries were greasy and we seemed to have gotten the bottom of the barrel because we were served mostly very small pieces. We had to dig the container for anything longer than 1/4 of and inch.
Great service, the food was absolutely amazing and a very cool dining experience, our group was extremely happy.
