City Winery - Chicago is the second of its kind, following the New York City flagship’s model: It’s a functioning winery, a top-notch music venue, and a full-service restaurant, all housed in a massive 33,000-square-foot facility in the West Loop.
The wines are exceptional: Grapes are imported from renowned regions around the country, then crushed and aged on site. Wines are poured by the glass or bottle, with many available on tap.
The menu features Mediterranean-inspired small plates designed to complement our extensive wine list. Burrata, arancini, flatbreads, and hearty meat dishes are varied enough to please a diverse crowd over a few rounds of wine. Servers are happy to point you toward their favorite bites and paired wines, and with a concert next door almost any given night, dinner at City Winery means there’s always something fun to experience.

City Winery Chicago Ratings and Reviews
Great place for dinner. Our waiter, Buck made a great wine recommendation as well as several recommendations on appetizers and main dishes. The appetizers, salad and main courses were delicious, the wine was so good I had to order an extra glass with my dinner. I would recommend the short rib and polenta, it was fantastic. Fantastic venue, I would love to go back for the live entertainment.
It was a nice restaurant, however it could have been better service by the waiter. They didn’t give a name, neither recommend any wine choices and seemed bothered by our inquiries. The manager said he would make it right but haven’t even heard back from him. Live and you learn, I guess.
The first time I heard about City Winery a friend mentioned it as a performance venue.
I don’t live in Chicago, but I come often enough to explore a number of Venues and Good places to eat. THIS PLACE HAS GREAT FOOD. Everything my date and I ate was VERY well prepared. The Beet Soup was SO Good...
The Music was Smooth, Soulful and warm and the Fireplace was perfectly Charming for our After dinner conversation.
I love it. You’ll love it. See u there in 2018.
City Winery is a West Loop gem! With an elegant barn interior, a versatile menu and wine list, and cozy ambiance, this venue is like an escape to the vineyards.
My friends and I wined and dined at City Winery on two consecutive Friday evenings, and we plan to mark this spot as a staple.
We came in with a group of 11 and had a fabulous time. The wine was great and the ambiance was lovely-trendy and fun. The food was great. The small burrata was on point!
We went early, so it was quiet enough to talk easily. The beet soup and duck tacos are GREAT. And the Syrah they had for tastings was surprisingly good, too. Prices are a bit high. The overall experience was all good.
A great time and meal before the show. They honored our request for a special table and we ended up sitting right next to the fireplace on a chilly evening. What more could you ask?
Oh yeah, Our server "James" was the greatest! Really seemed like he enjoyed working there.
Definitely eating here again before a show.
Always at great time at City Winery!
The food was excellent and the music never disappoints.
If you haven't had the pleasure of dining and listening to your favorite genre of music, I suggest you check out upcoming concerts and enjoy!
Our server, Emily, was excellent. She recommended some wines that both of us found delicious and satisfying. She was quiet and patient and friendly. When my friend's order came out of the kitchen the wrong flatbread order, she comped us the price of the entree because of the error. That was very generous! Overall, Emily did a great job and handled everything like a true professional. We had a very nice time! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Thanks for the great experience!
Underwhelming service. VERY loud. Not s place to go for conversation. Food was tasty, wine was good but overpriced. Our server brought put food for two of us and pur guests who were not sharing our plates waited another 10 minutes for their food. Awkward.
Second visit, was not disappointed! The wine was delicious, our server gave a great recommendation for our price range and the duck tacos were delicious. Will happily go back for another concert and dining experience.
Loved the food, drinks and atmosphere. Gay friendly. Art Garfunkel was amazing. Like being in my living room, up close and personal. Definetly will return.
Food is good, but would rarely consider this for dining-only (except, perhaps, for brunch). Most of the time, dining here has been pre-concert and for that purpose, they do a nice job.
Disappointed in the service. Our plates were never cleared and our waiter seemed to not care. Plates kept piling up and we made a stack on our table. Even when we ordered desert, our dinner plates were still left on the table. Gross. Also, found it odd that a winery does not do any kind of wine tastings/flights to try their different wines. Will not be coming back.
I always enjoy my time at City Winery.Great vibe, valet parking and of course the delicious menu.
First time visiting. Staff was fantastic (Matt and Robert), very knowledgeable and accommodating. Wine was very nice, and food was very good. The entire experience was first class, from reservation, to reservation follow up (DJ), all was great. Will definitely be back!
We sat outside at City Winery, and it was a great experience! Our main dishes - linguine with mussels and porkchop - were very tasty. However, the hummus plate to start was not good. They gave us very little hummus and the pita bread was stale. The wine was delicious, and our server was nice. Overall, it was a nice dinner regardless of the appetizer issue!
Went before the Bruno Mars concert last night.
Waited 25 minutes for a drink order - took the winery 20 minutes to locate and open said bottle - the sommelier said NOTHING while he struggled to open the bottle.
Then - we flagged down our server and placed an order for 2 appetizers.
When they arrived - the meatballs were dry and the rice balls were cold.
NO ONE on staff poured us wine from the bottle and we received water 20 minutes after asking.
Shadow your new staff.
Took an out of town friend out for brunch. Very limited menu and we were not offered the lunch menu though it was 12:30. Didn't know anything about it until we saw flatbreads coming out to other tables. Our waiter made us feel ignorant and like "un hip older ladies" which by the way we're not. I know it's a winery but he was no help in suggesting some afternoon cocktails without having a "script". Also ignored us, forgot flatware and napkins and mixed up our dessert order. Watching yoga outdoors was pleasant but otherwise not a good choice.
Great atmosphere, wonderful food and terrific wine options!
Typically, I'm a huge fan of City Winery. This particular night (a Monday) they were well off their game. Despite being one of the only tables, our service was inattentive, inaccurate and slow, and a couple of the plates were overcooked. I hope our experience was an anomaly and not the new norm for City Winery.
Loved my time at city winery for brunch with my friends. The wine was great and food was yummy. We had the rosè which was refreshing and the cheese tour which was delicious as well. For my meal I had the smoked salmon bagel. It was fresh and super delicious! Our waitress was attentive and polite.
The service was fantastic however our food tasted very bland. Chef is very conservative and does not appreciate seasoning. We also waited quite some time for two peoples' plates, which ended up being cold. Three other plates were sent back because of temperature. Very dissappointing.
