City Winery Chicago
The wines are exceptional: Grapes are imported from renowned regions around the country, then crushed and aged on site. Wines are poured by the glass or bottle, with many available on tap.
The menu features Mediterranean-inspired small plates designed to complement our extensive wine list. Burrata, arancini, flatbreads, and hearty meat dishes are varied enough to please a diverse crowd over a few rounds of wine. Servers are happy to point you toward their favorite bites and paired wines, and with a concert next door almost any given night, dinner at City Winery means there’s always something fun to experience.

Absolutely delightful evening in roomy dining room in his historic brick building!
Really nice and attentive servers!
I've been coming to City Winery for years and it's always been delicious. Up until now. We tried 5 different things and the only winner was the garlic shrimp. Our slamon was so overdone it was chewy and tough, not how you want your salmon. The flatbread was soggy, our brussel sprouts were so charred(burnt) you really couldn't eat them. Spinach dip was ok, not great. That said, our server never came back to check how our food was. We had to hunt her down several times. Which was odd as they weren't very busy for a Friday night. Wine and cocktails were very good, but the rest of the meal and service was really lacking that night I'm sad to say. I've come to expect more from City Winery and this experience was quite disappointing.
service was very slow and waiter was not well trained at all. food was good. we sat out doors on patio and seats were not very comfortable. wine was good.
The food was underwhelming, service was sub par, and the dessert selection was lacking. The one redeeming quality was the wine. I would return to visit the concert venue, but not to dine.
We went to City Winery before a friends wedding for a couple of appetizers and drinks. The staff was very friendly from start to finish! We had the meat and cheese tour along with the calamari, and both were delicious. We also enjoyed a glass of their wine which was also pretty tasty! We would definitely go back to City Winery for a fun date night or to catch a show.
Great service. Food is has a lot of flavor. The drinks are some of the best around.
The service at City Winery was very disappointing there seemed to be one waitress for the entire restaurant. An hour into dinner and only had received our appetizer, our server came to tell us they sold out of one of the entrees we ordered. So the waiting game began. Our dinner turned into a three hour dinner. Food was ok, ambiance was good. It was our first time at City Winery and we were not impressed.
Great for large groups! Went for brunch. Sat outdoors and the staff was very patient accommodating us - we had many kids, lots of preferences in seating.
Good vegetarian options too, and nice drinks.
This is a great place to see a show and enjoy a glass of wine or two. The restaurant is overpriced.
City Winery was an exquisite restaurant . The ambiance was beautiful. The restaurant set the mood for a date, good friends catching up, ladies night, just the guys or quick stop after work. The wine list is phenomenal with a variety of choices. I had a couple of glasses of Grenache. The taste is smooth but bold and crisp. My date had the specialty cocktail El Camparian. Overall, City Winery is a must and if your lucky there may be a show the evening of your visit.
City winery is always a great visit! Their food is amazing (especially their burrata with roasted cherry tomatoes!). I will happily return here time and again despite it being a drive across town. The west loop red is my favorite from their tap wines!
Staff was super nice
Lunch was great, but I was unaware that there was a private event that afternoon. As a result there was a limited menu and they were packing up chairs and tables as we were eating.
Awesome! Got served right away and things went smoothly!
I love this place. The food is great and the service is amazing.
Service was slow. Wine prices were high compared to others like Coopers Hawk.
Went for brunch for the first time, and we were really impressed. Menu was creative and memorable. We’ll brunch there again!
We did arrive in time. Were seated inside. It was my birthday and felt excited. As we waited. Our waitress seemed nice, but it took way to longer for the server to bring our drinks to us. We also wanted ti eat. But as we waited again to order our food, still way to long . Overall I feel atmosphere was nice. But way to loud my husband and I could not hear each other at times.
I will not be returning. Unfortunately this was the 2 time we’ve eaten there. Our first visit was a few years ago. It was average in my review. Very pricey.
Was good place for pre concert meal!!
Awesome views great service and food
My reservation was when they first opened so the noise level was low. The exercise class that was happening on the second level generated tolerable noise. Was greeted with free champagne and the service was terrific. Very please with food and food choices. Can't wait to return.
While in town with the National Restaurant Show our group was excited to check out City Winery after hearing nothing but greatness about their locations. We grabbed a dinner reservation for a party of 14 (actually ended up seating 10 or 11)
The place was empty, yet we continually had to go to the bar to get our drinks. When present our waiter served the wrong drinks to the wrong guests. Numerous of us ordered reds. We were surprised when our glasses of Pinot Noir and Zinfandel were served CHILLED.
Every protein was served severely over cooked. One guest was served his salad after entree plates were cleared from the full party. When issues were brought to the attention of both our server and bartender NOTHING was addressed. At no point did a manager check in on our experience, nor did they come out to address the table after poor service was noted.
After hearing the reputation of what a great brand and experience City Winery provides we were severely disappointed. Hopefully this single location is an oddity to what is known as a great chain.
Great experience. Staff and hostess very friendly. Highly recommend
had a great table for a big group up the stairs, very attentive service, shared a lot of good dishes, lovely wine reasonable priced, did get kicked out at the end of the night and felt rushed on a fri night they closed at 11.
We chose to dine before the Lizz Wright show, thinking there was going to be a great menu to choose from that was related to her concert. Had no idea it was going to be just 3 items. Kinda surprised, but we managed to find awesome selections anyway. The duck tacos were nothing short of amazing! Highly recommend them! We also enjoyed a burger and pulled pork. All expertly prepared and so quickly delivered to our table! Another exemplary experience here! We will return! Love your venue! Lizz’s concert was thoroughly enjoyable as well! Cannot wait to see her again!!
went for a dinner with friends. waited a while for a server manager took our drink order waited again for server tuna overcooked was disappointed as have eaten there before
This was a mother's day surprise for my sister visiting from new Orleans and she was very impressed with the ambiance and the vast wine selection. The food was so delicious we are already planning to come again to see a performer at the venue.
Wine and ambiance were great but was underwhelmed by the food and the service was alright. Our server was very nice but we were in the semi-private room and they probably needed more staff for Mother's Day. It also seemed like they forgot about our party or reservation as we had to wait about 20 minutes for our table to be set up.
I took my mother and my family to City Winery for Mother’s Day. They had bottomless mimosas and good brunch menu. The French toast, steak & eggs, and crab cake. There is plenty of room and plenty of drink options to choose from. I will definitely come back again for the music shows, food and drinks.
Great experience for a family reunion. Thank you,
So loud you can barely hear the person across from you
City Winery has a lot to offer! We ate a delicious dinner in the main dining room and enjoyed great service. Looking forward to coming back again for a band or entertainment experience.
Food and ambiance were great! Loved the burrata and the shrimp appetizers!
Made the reservation when we arrived the restaurant has been closed 15 minutes prior to our reservation.
Food was fine. We were seated at a table too big for our group, so with the noise level we couldn’t really talk to each other. They didn’t bring a wine menu, this is supposed to be a wine restaurant right? Our waitress forgot to put in our appetizer so it came out late and with our food. Generally the service was very poor. This was a horrible place to spend our evening.
Always excellent with service & level of food. Certainly ideal for wine selection. Had excellent service with Tia- very enjoyable.
We visited City Winery for a business dinner with clients -- a total of 12 of us. The service was ridiculously slow and inattentive -- in spite of the restaurant not seemingly that busy. We ordered appetizers which were delivered in a reasonable amount of time. However, the waitress left and did not return for 30 minutes - I had to flag her down to come take our orders. The appetizer plates were not removed from the table for another 30 minutes and, when they were, the dirty silverware was removed from the plates and placed on the table for use with our main courses! The food was just 'o.k.'. My risotto was more like a large bowl of brown rice -- somewhat watery rather than creamy; the 'ribeye' was like a sirloin - really tough; some had the halibut, the pasta, the duck tacos, etc. Everyone said their food was just 'o.k.' And everyone said the service was the worst part of the evening. I will not go back to City Winery -- with or without clients. Really disappointing.
Food was amazing! Burrata is a must try and wine selection is great!
Great experience! We had a group of 10 for a work dinner and our waiter was extremely patient and accommodating with our questions and food restrictions.
Love this venue for dinner and a show. The staff is phenomenal as is the food and wine. I always get the Burrata and West Loop Red...absolutely amazing!!
