Came here for brunch on Sunday as we had a $50 gift card to burn. My wife had the steak and cheese breakfast sandwich on a brioche with fries and it was huge and delicious. I had the shakshuka and it was also delicious. Could have used a piece of bread with it to soak up the excess though. (Just a thought). We didn’t quite use all of our gift card, guess we need to come back.
I went for Valentine's Day and had an amazing evening. We dined in the restaurant first and then went to a really fun show in their Haymarket Lounge. The food, service and ambiance was incredible. Our server, Austin was super friendly & knowledgeable. Be sure to sign up for their newsletter to find out about all of the shows they have coming up! They get amazing artists--I can't wait to go back and see Ron Pope, BBMak, Robert Glasper, Grace Kelly & Haley Reinhart! I would give this place 10 stars if I could.
This is a beautiful restaurant and bar and they occupy a huge space between the restaurant, the winery and 2 concert halls. We had only a burger and eggs benedict at the bar, so no larger entrees. The food was good and their own wines were good they make there. The only negative I have read about the place is slow service. When we placed our food order, it took 30 minutes to get our food which were 2 simple meals to make. I will definetly go back as I was very impressed with the layout of the place. A very imnpressive setting.
Servers were not what I would expect at a high level restaurant in Boston. Had to ask for a spoon for chowder and plates for calamari.
Enjoyed the evening ambience and food was only okay, but service lacking.
Good spot for a glass of wine before dinner
While we thought the food was quite good, the service was abominable. VERY LONG waits. Orders can at different times. Forgot one of the orders completely.
Drinks took 20 mins to get to the table. And yes - forgot one completely.
Waitress was overwhelmed. Not only did we have to go find her, but had to find extra table setting, salt and pepper, and had to ask the bartender to fill the order (which he STILL HAD NOT GOTTEN!!).
Unless they get their act together, will never return.
It was a very average dining experience. My friend an I were eager to have brunch here, but I have to say it was just an average meal. The roasted veggies in the omelet were still very hard . They were out of the mix for the rose sangria which we were very excited to try. It was very lackluster.
Went there before a concert with a group of 6 on saturday 2/2. We ordered our drinks (2 wine flights, 2 sangrias, 1 glass of wine and 1 cocktail) ordered 2 appetizers and then a mix of pizzas and small plates to share. Food came out within a reasonable amount of time. First appetizers, then our mix of small plates and pizzas. What did not come out was our drinks. First the waiter said they were out of sangria, then they were out of Jameson whiskey and had to pick out a different drink. We finished our appetizers, still no drinks. We finished our meals, still no drinks. Finally after our food plates had been cleared our drinks arrived! Really disappointing. The food was very good and the restaurant ambiance is fun, but for a wine bar, a backup at the bar and having to wait for our drinks for over 1 hour (sat at 6:30- left at 7:50pm. ) we got our drinks at 7:30pm. Really bad.
Slowest drink service I’ve ever seen.
Had the burger. It was okay, but lacked flavor. Had lunch around 4pm on a Saturday and the dining area was literally cold. Granted it was a cold day outside, but there was very little heat in the dining area. Service was slow also. Eventually the bar tender came and took our order
Joined a friend at City Winery after work, it was perfect! Great vibe, great music and delicious food! Usually go for a performance but tonight went to the barrel room for dinner. Compared to performances, service was outstanding, food delicious and great ambience. Try the risotto balls! Delicious! Thank you!
We went on a Wednesday night before a Celtics game. The place was not crowded and there were plenty of available times, which in retrospect should have been a tip off. For starters, there was only one waiter worker the floor. It took 20 minutes to place a drink order, and then another 20 to order food. The food showed up quickly because there were a bunch of servers around, just no one you could order food or drink with. The mixed drinks were ok, the wine was surprisingly mediocre. Food was meh. Then it took 10 minutes after our plates were cleared to get our check, and then another 10 to sign, etc. Yup, we were late for the game.
The restaurant is really cute, food was delicious and the service was quite good.
Was there for Marc Cohn show and ate dinner in the restaurant beforehand. The duck tacos were dry and tasteless. There were hardly any patrons in the restaurant but pre show dining in the concert hall was bustling so possibly the food preparers were focused on that crowd. Our server was fabulous and the manager promptly replaced our fried calamari that arrived to the table cold. Service couldn’t have been better but the food is lacking unfortunately because it’s a great spot to see a show and would be fantastic if the food reflected that as well.
The restaurant had a lot of potential but the service was TERRIBLE. Not only my table of 3, but all tables surrounding were waiting over an hr for our food. When the food did arrive it was cold. The waiter did his best to be pleasant but he was clearly rushing and not engaged. It also confused me because it did not seem to be understaffed. Maybe there was a party on the lower level, but I suggest next time to close the restaurant for the duration of private events. It was my mothers birthday dinner, and she did not enjoy herself.
This place is not a bad option if you are going to see one of the shows. Just go early and order with plenty of time. The décor is kind of cool with the windows and long bar and there are good tables for groups. The food is pretty good, and there is a nice variety, but it doesn't always arrive hot...and the service is slow. The server we had this past visit spilled a martini all over my husband-she was very apologetic and ran to get cloth napkins to clean up--but that drink should have been comped and it was not. We had gone in at 6:15 for appetizers (which were good) and dinner before seeing Marc Cohn. Were stalling as friends were delayed so we waited until 7:15 to order dinner (show is at 8:00 and in the same building.) Dinner came out at 7:50 and fries/burger were cold. No time to send it back OR eat it so we had a server put it on a tray and brought it over to the concert venue. Very stressful and disappointing.
I think the key here is that when folks come for a concert and want to eat beforehand, the kitchen gets overwhelmed and slow. Then all bets are off and there is no time to send anything back.
We enjoyed a fabulous birthday dinner at City Winery. Our table ordered everything from small plates, flat bread, and large plates. Everything was deliciously prepared. The ambiance was so relaxing. We were seated at a large round table that was perfect for conversation.
I highly recommend this establishment.
Atmosphere very interesting. Great space to mingle. Convenient to TD Garden ad great place to meet before a game, however service at bar very slow. Wine good but pours very small for the price. Irritating that food in restaurant wasn't served to entire party at same time, but instead arrived individually. Took over 10 minutes for entire party to be served so first people didn't want to eat without everyone getting food and their meals were cold. Why can't the kitchen figure out how to serve all food in party at once ?
The food and service were okay but the atmosphere was fun. We saw a concert after dinner (highly recommend) and it was a great experience. Overall, it was a good time but I'd stick to apps, drinks, and a show.
We had an absolutely amazing night the bar staff was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and when it came time to get a table we were absolutely thrilled that everyone was spread out and not on top of each other the prices are a bit high as we spent about 200 dollars on the night but it was well worth it and I can’t wait to do it again next year
Our server Elizabeth was very knowledgeable about the wine and very attentive.
Everything took a very long time. Our server was not around much and the room we were in was pretty empty. The server initially was pretty attentive and another manager of some sort came by. But then things really slowed down. Once we finally ordered my mom's food came pretty quickly, a flatbread, the person who delivered the food stated the other food would be right behind. Our server came over a bit later and made a statement that the flatbreads are fast and she would check on our food. She came by a couple times saying the food would be out soon but in reality it was at least 15 minutes of my mom's food getting cold before my dad and my food came. The server didn't offer anything to help make this better (glass of wine, new pizza, manager) she just made an excuse that there was a party elsewhere. I did enjoy my food but the way that the service had been put a damper on my birthday dinner. We didn't even get dessert as it felt like that too would be an ordeal. I realized after leaving I should have asked to speak to a manager but really didn't want to have that kind of interaction on a special day.
Outstanding time at City Winery. Went for my mom's birthday this past Friday afternoon and our guy, Taurin S. hooked it up! Thank you, Taurin and the Manager at City Winery Boston. My mom had one of the best birthdays ever and we will be back New Year's Eve day with an even bigger group! Many thanks.
We ordered the bib lettuce with prosciutto, the skirt steak and the scallops. The prosciutto was oddly chilled and has a sort of a dead muted color. Texture was tough — none of the buttery texture you expect from good prosciutto. The flank steak was cooked a nice medium rare but the Romesco sauce was starting to cake over and none of it was hot. Seemed like it was left under the heat lamp too long.
The $30 scallop dish was the most disappointing. Six undersized scallops were barely warm and the puree they were sitting on was stone cold.
All in all it felt like a place trying hard at fine dining and executing poorly. I'd stick with the burger and fries.
Bartender made a great Manhattan though 👍
Nice venue, but they are definitely not equip to serve brunch. The staff was still cleaning up from an event held there the night before. The brunch menu lacked variety and the service was slow. The quality of food did not make up for it.
Wine was decent, food left something to be desired.
Went with a group of long time friends. We ordered the tour of cheese and meats and a red wine flight.
The waiter did not offer any knowledge of what meats and cheeses we were eating, the menu did not lend any explanation. We asked the waiter and he referred us to the menu.
One friend had the red wine flight and he referred her to the menu as well which just listed 3 names.
Flatbreads were basically small pizzas, individual size and the dough was quite thick for what I would consider a flat bread.
The risotto balls with pumpkin purée were great! Would go back for a glass of wine and the risotto balls.
Overall a good experience. Flatbreads were great. Food overall was tasty. Service was very good and the atmosphere was great. The steak I got was okay - came pre-sliced which I don't like, and was cooked correctly but was not hot when it came - maybe not timed well? And the cheesecake dessert was very disappointing - dry, too much crust and not much flavor. The other desserts were very though.
Max - the manager made the meal worthwhile after a rocky start at this eatery - props to him for outstanding customer service!
It was good overall and the place is really nice. Only thing was the bread on the sandwich seemed a bit stale and did not feel fresh.
The service was absolutely terrible. Multiple bartenders made eye contact and one put a menu in front of us but none would take our actual order for reasons that aren’t clear. It wasn’t busy at that point with open seats at the bar. Drinks at dinner were not made correctly, the waiter acknowledged the mistake and offered to bring new drink, but those never showed up. The food was overpriced given the quality and portion size - there was no value. It was really disappointing as the space itself looks wonderful.
Server was very friendly but seemed to have a lot of tables and as a result was not as attentive. Had to send back 1 drink and 2 side dishes due to being made incorrectly. Some enjoyed their bites and beverages though.
Cute spot with lots of potential and good options but service was poor and slow. The restaurant was empty and food took over 1 hour/did not taste great. Weight staff was not very attentive and walked by several times without checking in while we were waiting to place a second drink order.
The service was slow and spotty; the food was hit-or-miss; and the drinks were mediocre. Not a suitable place for a special occasion and a large group.
Do NOT recommend for food at all. Terrible quality (eg the mushroom flatbread was more like an undercooked pizza with canned mushrooms). I could see her coming here to go to the bar and have some drinks.
Small portions for price and no spoons given with coffee/tea.
Service not great they focused on the event or large groups ended up waiting a while wine was very good tho
Service was horrible. We literally needed to waive our hands in the air for our server to look our way and attend to us. This was the case throughout dinner, not just a single instance.
We have been to City Winery previously to hear a concert and I would go back again for that, but never again just for dinner.
Great wine list, stunning physical space. Food was excellent overall but be aware that the portion sizes even on their full plates are quite small, even smaller than European standards, so it is a good idea to order multiple dinners for the table and share, as with tapas. We encountered some significant service issues since our meals arrives while the appetizers were still on the table being enjoyed, that is nearly unforgivable, and resulted in a graceless shuffling of plates on the tiny square table, and our appetizers being left untouched. Acoustics are about what you'd expect in a Boston restaurant in 2018, lots of shrieking shrill RHT voices competing for attention over their white whines.
We learned of this place on Phantom Gourmet, and since we had an event coming up at the Garden it seemed perfect to give it a shot prior. After seeing some of the reviews I was questioning whether to go or not, however our experience was outstanding. We showed up 15 minutes before our reservation and were sat immediately. Our server was at the table within a couple of minutes for the drink order, and the drinks were delivered within a couple of minutes. This is how the rest of the experience went with service, we were always taken care of in a timely manner with grace. The food was excellent. The thought of Pumpkin Spice scallops scared me while intriguing me at the same time, I am so happy I got them! Of course the wine was excellent, and for those that are more into beer like I am, the selection won't disappoint. I would go back here in a heart beat, wish I had known this place existed prior. It will be the preferred pre-Garden stop going forward!
Apps came out cold, service was OK, but awkward, several servers double taking orders, etc. Food was poorly plated and overpriced
