Cute spot with lots of potential and good options but service was poor and slow. The restaurant was empty and food took over 1 hour/did not taste great. Weight staff was not very attentive and walked by several times without checking in while we were waiting to place a second drink order.

Do NOT recommend for food at all. Terrible quality (eg the mushroom flatbread was more like an undercooked pizza with canned mushrooms). I could see her coming here to go to the bar and have some drinks.

Service was horrible. We literally needed to waive our hands in the air for our server to look our way and attend to us. This was the case throughout dinner, not just a single instance.
We have been to City Winery previously to hear a concert and I would go back again for that, but never again just for dinner.

Great wine list, stunning physical space. Food was excellent overall but be aware that the portion sizes even on their full plates are quite small, even smaller than European standards, so it is a good idea to order multiple dinners for the table and share, as with tapas. We encountered some significant service issues since our meals arrives while the appetizers were still on the table being enjoyed, that is nearly unforgivable, and resulted in a graceless shuffling of plates on the tiny square table, and our appetizers being left untouched. Acoustics are about what you'd expect in a Boston restaurant in 2018, lots of shrieking shrill RHT voices competing for attention over their white whines.

We learned of this place on Phantom Gourmet, and since we had an event coming up at the Garden it seemed perfect to give it a shot prior. After seeing some of the reviews I was questioning whether to go or not, however our experience was outstanding. We showed up 15 minutes before our reservation and were sat immediately. Our server was at the table within a couple of minutes for the drink order, and the drinks were delivered within a couple of minutes. This is how the rest of the experience went with service, we were always taken care of in a timely manner with grace. The food was excellent. The thought of Pumpkin Spice scallops scared me while intriguing me at the same time, I am so happy I got them! Of course the wine was excellent, and for those that are more into beer like I am, the selection won't disappoint. I would go back here in a heart beat, wish I had known this place existed prior. It will be the preferred pre-Garden stop going forward!

The ambiance, food and wine were good. The service was terrible. Our server had no knowledge of the menu and how things were prepared. The manager that we spoke to was very nice and professional. She gave us a free dessert because the service was so poor. She was very knowledgeable of the new Fall/seasonal menu. We let her know about our server. I fear you will lose business with service like that. Overall though we really liked it and would give it another try...

I have been several times. A HIGH recommend if you want to see a concert in a fantastic intimate setting which includes drinks and food served at the table during the concert. Our experience this past weekend was rough. Bar was not packed, but it took a good 20 minutes to get drinks with each order. Food was excellent as always, but what should have taken 1 hour or less took twice as long unnecessarily.

Underwhelming sums it up. It was a little chaotic at the front desk and then we waited a while for a server, who was perfectly pleasant and obliging when he came. The wine/ sommelier were excellent. The food was fine but nothing very special. There were lots of empty tables in a night before a concert at TD Garden and; a restaurant in this location should be packed. The decor was lovely, but there was something amiss. I don’t know if it’s new, but it hasn’t quite worked itself out yet.

Unfortunately we didn’t sit at the bar where in the past we have received great service. On this occasion we, two couples, reserved a table - 2 hours before a concert at the TD Garden. The service was just brutal. Twenty minutes for the first drink order, 20 minutes for the app. The “Concert” menu was designed for folks that would be in a rush. We were not initially in a rush but then due to the lack of service and attention we were. We ordered two burgers (not on that menu) and flat bread that was on that menu. Burgers came right up! Flatbread took another 20 min!! Management was helping clear tables and even though they heard our dismal comments to the server we were ignored. Didn’t want anything just an apology.

I would not recommend City Winery RESTAURANT until they figure out their staffing plan. This review does NOT PERTAIN TO The City Winery Music Hall.

Was excited to try this location, note I have not been to other CW locations. Overall, underwhelmed. Food was just okay, wine was similar. We tried a number of apps and entrees. The only item I'd saw was good was the flatbread. Was hoping this would become a go-to pre-TD Garden location, will look elsewhere.

Absolutely the worst. I had a 6:15 reservation for 6 and when we showed up we were told it would be a ‘few minutes’ because they were setting the table. Isn’t the purpose of a reservation so you have a table that’s ready when you show up? We were seated at 6:30 and after 10 minutes I found the hostess and asked her to please send our waiter over because we had a time constraint and needed to be finished with dinner at 7:30. Five minutes after that the waitress showed up. For those of you keeping track, time is now 6:45. She asked if we wanted to order drinks, I told her of our time constraint and we were ready to order everything. She said the kitchen was busy and couldn’t guarantee how the food would come out. She recommended ordering off the supplemental menu as those items tend to come out quicker. Not everyone wanted to order something off that menu. We asked a question about the Lobster 2 Ways and her response was ‘I don’t know I’ve never had it’. We ordered 4 glasses of wine, she delivered 3 at the same time and the 4th one 25 minutes later. Any one that came by the table we asked about the 4th glass of wine to no avail. The 2 people in our party that order off the ‘quick menu’ got their food last at 7:20. One person didn’t get what they ordered so we sent it back and didn’t did not have the time for replacement with the correct meal. We couldn’t get the food we ordered but on 3 different occasions they tried to deliver food that we did not order. I will say that at the beginning of the meal the waitress was boarder line rude but by the end she was apologetic about the service.

It took over a half hour before we left our table (since no server came to us). We snagged seats at the 2nd bar, but it was a really awkward setup. 2 hour dinner for 2 of us who were in a rush.

Service at this restaurant is the worst I have ever experienced. We waited 40 minutes for drinks, side dishes came out before we had drinks or entrees. Entrees took over an hour. Wait staff didn’t even care.

The restaurant is beautiful but they are way understaffed. We waited 15 minutes before anyone greeted us and then after another 15 minutes we still did not have our drinks so we left. The place was not full either. I would not go back till they get the staffing situation fixed.

I hosted an event at City Winery in September and the food for 25+ people was great along with the service and rented space. I had dinner with my wife there this past week prior to a show at the garden. I requested my burger med raw but got it well done. I will def. give this place another try as I had a great experience the first time and really do enjoy the place but overall was disappointed in the meal i had recently.

Tight eating area due to private event the night before.
No sparkling water! No skim milk for coffee!
Meals were ok. Have had better Avocado toast elsewhere.
May return for wine tour but doubtful!

Service was awful- wrong items were brought out. Special was sold out and they never told us. Waitress never came to our table. Manager was running around apologizing to everyone and comping angry customers with drinks. Food ok but Night was ruined!

Service was SLOW. Took us 60 minutes to receive our entrees from when we sat down. Servers were not knowledgeable about the menu. Drinks never came. I had to ask for the check. Will not go back and will not recommend.

Cool spot, but was extremely quiet on a week night. Weekends/ events are probably more popular. Service was bad, even with the small number of patrons. I would come back for a concert, but would be unlikely to return for dinner again.

I found City Winery to be adequate - the food tasted good, the service was good, the ambiance was good. For me, nothing beyond the wine list really stood out to wow me, but in all the experience was solid. Would go back again, especially compared to other nearby options.

This is a good pre -event venue for Garden events..The food and drinks are very good. The servers seem to switch mid stream and got things a bit confused, and the final bill had to be corrected, which was not a huge deal, but we were headed to the concert, so it took a few extra minutes. There seemed to be a communication gap, even though it was not at all busy. Anyway, overall, we like it and will be back.

We met friends before a concert at the Garden. We wanted a 4:00 reservation and I was able to make it on OT. I got a phone call stating that we would not be able to sit in the dining room as they were between brunch and dinner. We sat at the bar and that was fine. There is a very nice selection of items on the bar menu. Food was very good. There were two drawbacks-one friend ordered a margarita and the bartender made it with a very Smokey tequila that was not well suited for the drink and the bartender was distracted and took two orders and then disappeared and made drinks for other people before he came back and completed taking our orders.

We went to CW before a show at TD Garden. We had reservations and were seated promptly - waitress came over a few minutes later but did not explain any wine selections - just asked us what we wanted. Would have expected some explanations of various wines. Appetizers ordered - not bad. However flatbreads were delivered before cleaning 4 appetizer dishes so us and the waiter (not our waitress) had to juggle all the dishes - annoying. The waitress came by once to ask us if we wanted anything else. In all we had one waitress and three other people coming by at various times. No continuity.
All in all not bad for a quick bite before a show but not planning to go there without a reason. Btw the concert hall there is great.

City Winery was awful from start to finish. We arrived in great moods, excited to see a concert at the Garden in a couple hours. The hostesses slightly dampened our moods: they were very rude, treating us as an inconvenience (though we had a reservation) and made us wait 10 minutes after our reserved time to be seated even though about half the tables were open.

Once we were seated, it was impossible to get service - we waited over 20 minutes once we were sat for someone to come by, so during that time we tried to flag down multiple waitresses and managers but were ignored by all. When the waitress finally came to take our drink order, she was very rushed and did not apologize for our long wait. We then waited 20 minutes for the drinks, during which we tried to flag down our waitress to order food, and were again pretty much completely ignored (though truly, the restaurant was not busy at all!).

When we finally got our drinks it had been nearly an hour since we arrived, and I was too annoyed to stay so paid for our drinks (and had to chase our waitress for the check) and went elsewhere. If you want to be treated poorly and wait hours for service, this is your spot.

The waitress was a bit disinterested in serving us, she seemed eager to get us out of there. We were there for a birthday and she did not even offer us dessert! Food was good, but for a place that was not busy I would have expected better service.

Nice room. Really good service. Food tastes good. Fries with the burger could be more crispy. Prices high for what you get - it's downtown Boston. If you're going to a show I recommend dining in the Barrel Room then going to the concert venue. The concert venue seating is quite cramped.

There was potential in our mean to be good, but there were many disappointments. Both my husband and I ordered wine flights, his red, mine white. They were dropped off with no explanation at all about which wine was which. One of my three whites was room temperature, one was slightly chilled and one was the proper temperature.

Temperature was a problem thorughout the meal. I had the duck tacos, and everything that was supposed to be warm was tepid. My husband reproted that his fries were not served hot either. My duck tacos also had rubbery, unpleasant tortillas, which is too bad, because the duck itself and the slaw and aoili were all very good. The "assemble yourself" approach was also very nice. Had the tortillas been better and the duck and tortillas been warmer, it would have been a good dish.

The one dish that was really good was the grilled watermelon salad. It was a great combination of flavors.

We also had poor service. The server who took our order was friendly, but the actual dishes were dropped off by different people and then we did not see a server for 30 minutes. Had there been an actual issue with any of the food that was truly a problem or something missing, we would never have had the chance to correct it.

Very disappointing overall, despite an appealing menu and fun wine list.

We've been to the City Winery many times, as we enjoy it there a lot. The first time we went, the manager gave us a tour of the place. It was very nice. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Perfect place to go before a game at the Garden or just any night. Recommend highly.
