We strive to deliver an exquisitely combined culinary and cultural experience to those who are passionate about indulging their senses in wine, music, and the culinary arts. We’re a unique, cultivated venue, combining a fully functioning urban winery with intimate concerts, food & wine classes, tailored private events and spaces, and elevated, wine-focused dining.
The service was a bit haphazard. The staff needs a little polishing. The food has promise. The wine selection was above board. I think it would be a good place to grab something to eat before an event but I wouldn't go there again just for the food.
Worst restaurant experience in years!! We never did figure out who our server was, 2 guys stopped and introduced themselves but were never available. We had to ask other people for help, ie sweetener for ice tea, twice each time. I had to ask twice for an ice tea refill, then he brought me half a glass. The food was marginal, fries were cold, fried Cornish hen was way overcooked and missing meat. Never checked on status. Had to wait 10 minutes for check and just as long for it to be rung in. First time I’ve left a $1. Tip . Worst one of the waiters ran after us and shouted down the hall that he was doing his best, only saw him once at end of meal to clear. If this sounds like a rant, it may be, but I seldom complain on line or web sites. The worst Is that multiple staff were standing around on their phones the whole time. If I have problem I tend to talk to manager privately. I know everyone had bad days. I won’t be back.
We had a great time.
Nice spot for a drink and appetizer.
I like the venue and variety of artists that play here. However, I will never dine here again. The service was very slow and the food wasn’t a all they great especially for the prices. Also, the menu needs more variety.
I recommend the wine/cocktails and the concerts. Pass on the food here. Our wait staff were very friendly but the kitchen can’t keep up with guests dining in the restaurant and the guests attending concerts.
With the exception of fries we had four or so dishes that took forever to get out. And the waitress was very inattentive so we had to ask other waiters to get things for us. The restaurant was not very busy, so I still don’t understand why there were so many delays.
I've been to City Winery 6 times in 2019 for the excellent live entertainment they showcase. That said it is not a 5 or 4 star restaurant and with admission charges for decent seating expect to spend $200-$300 for an evening for 2. The service is friendly and professional and the menu is bistro wine bar style and mostly good to very good. The bottled wine list is a bit too pricey for what is listed. Bottom line, I plan to return to CW when I see a band or entertainment that makes it all worthwhile.
Came here with some girlfriends for the night and had the best experience. We definitely plan on going back. Amazing.
The service was extra slow, they were out of Cornish Hen at 8 pm which took the server 10 min to tell us. By the end 6 out of 8 ppl had a burger!! One of those was an impossible burger that came out 20 min after everyone else’s late food so she just took it home to go. This was my dad’s 73 bday celebration of which only he was happy and that was because his children came to celebrate his life. He said if he knew we were taking him for burgers we could have went to Burger King for the price of one ticket because I spent $35 for one glass of wine, cold fries and Luke warm medium burger that I requested to be Medium-Well.
What disappointing service. We had made a reservation for 5 PM on Sunday and were one of 4 tables in the entire restaurant. The hostess awkwardly took our orders as she said the staff was busy getting ready for a concert. We saw 7-8 waiters and they did not seem busy at all. 15 minutes later I had to go to the bar and reorder my glass of wine and mom's sweet tea. We then asked a waitress who came over to double check that our food was actually placed. She never came back. 15 minutes later they come back to tell us the one thing we ordered was out of stock. We reiterated we had been there for 30 minutes and at this point were in a time crunch and needed something to be quick and asked for suggestions and to bring whatever was ready out. 5:40 still no sign of a waiter or waitress checking on us, no one offered to get us more drinks and no sign of food. I finally found the manager who was 0 help and I asked her to please go check on our food. She stood there and did not help at all. Finally one nice guy went and found our food but by this point we had to leave as we had tickets to the Fox. I've never walked out and not paid for food but the service was that atrocious and there was absolutely no crowd or reason it should have been. No apologies either.
Nice menu for appetizers, small plates, and entrees. Wine list is pricy!
Our food was cold had to send back. I order sweet tea she brought me unsweetened twice then I order a cola never got it won’t go back for the money we spend
Many of the many options featured fried foods. The wine by the glass menu was anemic. It was a decent atmosphere. Wait staff were nice and informed about the menu. Just found the food less than stellar and even small for small plates. Maybe for a concert but not for dinner. Bar scene was a snooze fest. Empty. It was my bday ugh.
We had an appetizer night. Started with the hummus with pickled vegetables. Very good and an ample portion. Next, Risotto balls, bruchetta, meatballs and brussels sprouts. All were very good but the brussel sprouts stole the show.
Unfortunately, our server was less then attentive. I don't recall her checking on us during our entire meal and when it came for the check she disappeared. We had to get he check from another server.
Wonderful anniversary dinner!
I like City Winery for its entertainment and ambience but the food overall continues to disappoint. I’m not exactly finicky but the steak came out two temperatures underdone and was overall a fatty deposit placed upon a plate. A very good glass of Cabernet softened the blow of a less than fair meal; good table service as well but the food choices continue to give me pause; like eat before you see the show.
The steak was amazing.
Went there Tuesday before the Marc Cohn concert, had made a 6:00 reservation. We were seated outside and had a long wait till our waitress came, which was strange since we were literally the only ones there. No kidding other than 2 guys at the bar we were it. The food took about 45 minutes to arrive (I think 2 other people showed up in the mean time) and was stone cold. I can’t understand with only a couple people in the restaurant it took so long and then was served cold food. Sent the food back and it was returned slightly warmer but not hot. I had the chicken saltimbocca and it was terrible. The dish should be pounded chicken rolled with thin prosciutto but what I got was a dry overcooked chicken breast with a 1/4 inch piece of ham wrapped half way around. The ham was completely dry and overcooked on the top and raw on the bottom. The dish was served with sautéed mushrooms (again cold even after reheat) and a sweet potato risotto. The risotto had a strange undercooked consistency and a sauce that must have been made with the dishwater. I ate about a fifth of the food on my plate and was never even asked how I liked the food. I can only conclude the dishwasher was filling in for the chef as this was the worst food I’ve had in a decade. On the good side the beer and wine my wife and I had was good but we would have had to have drunk the place dry to enjoy that dinner. I would highly recommend McDonalds over the Barrel Room Restaurant.
Took my mom out to lunch she fell in love with the place. It was a great experience! Food was amazing, great Scenery and our Waiter was wonderful. I will say it was a slow day so we physically had to as a waiter to take our orders but other than amazing place !
This is a high class ambiance restaurant with poor marketing of events. I ordered braised duck tacos and the meat was served to me cold, with stale tortillas and no utensils.
This was my second time at City Winery. The first time was a private party I arranged for 20 people. I assumed that our reasonably disappointing experience was just due to the size of our party and had high hopes that by going back with a smaller group of four for a dinner out I'd have a better outcome. Unfortunately that was not the case. We had a reservation for 7:30 and were immediately seated however, several minutes went by without our table being greeted or acknowledged by a server. I eventually approached the host stand to let them know we were still waiting. They were apologetic and our server came by shortly after. The risotto balls were a delicious appetizer but the meat and cheese board were quite underwhelming. None of us were impressed with our orders and one meal even came out cold. The wines are good so after two visits it seems that that's where they put their focus. Perhaps going for a concert and not dining is really the way to go at City Winery. With such a prime location at Ponce City Market they really should do more to make a good name for themselves.
Too many issues to mention. They have a lot of work to do, but if they fixed the problems, they could really generate good revenues.
Enjoyed a good meal, good service, good company, good atmosphere. Looking forward to coming back.
The food menu is sparse. You're paying for the ambiance and being in Ponce City Market. Only would return for a concert. Only a few people (5) in dining area and we waited about 10 minutes for a server to come to our table.
It was a decent experience. The calamari was so so. My salmon was great although the grit was a little cold. My server was very attentive. I’ll give it another try!
I was very surprised by the bunch at City Winery. It was my 1st time coming for brunch and the food was very disappointing. The dinner menu is great and I bring clients often, but the brunch was pretty poor. The pancakes were very dry, the scrambled eggs were a bit runny and my client couldn’t get though even half of the grits. For the price and quality, I will likely just stick with the lunch and dinner at this restaurant.
I love this place...but this time the food and service was subpar.
Arrived at 6:30 on reservations and did not receive our COLD food until 8:45. Entire meal was free due to poor service.
The waiter we had was terrible. He said things that didnt Help situation
He didnt check on food and kept disappearing. I waited tables, he needs serios training go to O Charleys or something until you learn your craft. This is too nice of place to have people slacking. Drinks check in or back in a minute not 15 min .to get sweet tea or lemons. Bathrooms needed attention. Water on floor and paper. They should get checked every hour.
I tried to ask him questions so I could find a way to leave him a tip, but nothing, but more crazy talk.
Just TERRIBLE. You need runners and more help . First time and not a good impressions at all. Thanks to Olga for helping out but, you need to do something with Darren or Daniel what ever. Rush to take our order not helpful at all for our first time there.
Horrible service. Ordered 4 impossible burgers and only received 3. No follow up from our server and the manager was a joke.
Appreciate the seasonal selection for dinner plates especially paired w wine offerings. Sometimes the kitchen misses special requests but it is occasionally
I've been to City Winery on 2 different occasions in the last 6 months and this past visit was a bit disappointing. The food was very good overall including the drinks, but the service was very concerning.
The waitress who was handling our orders appeared overworked, had a somewhat lackluster attitude and forgot a few items that we had requested. The restaurant had about 8 tables filled at any time and there only appeared to be one waitress and one manager that was servicing all tables.
I would think twice before coming back to this restaurant as I believe there are far better options in the immediate area.
My 1st dining and concert experience at C-W. It's a great venue, location, parking garage. Dinner in The Barrel Room, nice setting, winery theme, of course, floor to ceiling windows with view to an outdoor patio dining option. The menu is pricey and the food is OK. I had to send back the ahi tuna, too rare, difficult to cut, for additional cooking. Came back better, but not worth the menu price. Wine by the bottle is pricey. $59 was the lowest price red that wasn't a house brand. Service is 5 Stars! Sommelier comes to the table for questions or suggestions. Waiter staff is well trained, professional, friendly, attentive. The C-W concert room is very cool, nice table layout, lighting, sound system, and of course top notch entertainment! Our hostess Erica was exceptional! She greeted us, smiling, welcoming, professional, and walked us to our reserved table along with a quick walk thru tour that included the tasting room. Very nice touch, and why I plan to include C-W on my go-to list when I have friends and family in town who are wine enthusiasts!
Food was cold. Service was sub par compared to the prices.
Just bad. Glad we had gift certificate. Would not go back.
The restaurant was nice but had limited options on the menu. The wine flight was a good option for those wine rookies like me.
We both had some issues with the food we ordered, they where quick to fix the problem, great Service.
This was a lovely restaurant with a great view. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating as we had 1 person more than our reservation planned for. The food and drinks were awesome and we didn’t feel rushed.
Our waiter was amazing and the drinks were good. Enjoyed our lunch immensely.
