City Tavern - Culver City
Food was average. I had the Jamaican salmon which was fine but nothing special. My friend had a salad with same result. What makes this place a return visit is the staff and the ambiance. Both are stellar. It's a great place to relax and catch up with friends.
There were four of us. One had the Smoked Salmon Hash - he enjoyed his meal. One had the Club Sandwich, that was absolutely delicious. Two of us had the Poutine. The flavor was perfect, but my complaint is that you don't enough short rib with it. But there were other things on the menu, including the lobster benedict, that I would go back to try. Right in the middle of Culver City coolness.
We tried out this venue for Dine L.A., and enjoyed our evening. The service was friendly and helpful. The menu for Dine L.A. was enjoyable and tasty. It was a great value. They were out of several items and their bar choices were limited, but it worked well with outside dining. We really did not peruse the regular menu, but we would return.
Ask for George. He knows how to take care of his customers. He made excellent suggestions for food and drinks during Dine LA.
We went for dinner during Dine LA on a Friday night and found the food to be good. My wife and I both had the lobster roll. The value is tremendous! The service was great.
Food was okay, It took over an hour for our food to get to our table.
The service was slow. Drinks took forever. Food was great tho and the ambiance was awesome!
Enjoyed the outdoor seating. Great waiter. Good food. Good atmosphere. The DineLA menu was a good deal. We will be back!
Ambience was nice they offer outdoor seating. Parking is across the street at chase bank 0-2 hours cost $5. The food was okay nothing that stood out. Dine la menu was nice to try different dishes. I was really disappointed with the breakfast pountine. I was expecting short rib and gravy with cheese curds but it was far from any of that. When I asked for gravy on the side the server gave me a bowl of watery tomato soup no idea what that was suppose to be. The cheese was basic and melted. If anything maybe call it a nacho fries with some random pieces of chewy meat. Definitely was not the short rib I was expecting. Fries were soggy.
My friends ordered the lobster Benedict that was okay not really sure how it was suppose to taste first time having lobster on a Benedict. Lobster was meaty? Sauce was okay. Arugula was a nice balance to the dish. Sweet potato tater tots were great and crispy. Brussel sprouts with bacon was too sweet. The crossiant breakfast sandwich probably looked the best out of all our dishes stacked with great ingredients friends said it tasted good.
Good beer selection. Mimosas seemed decent.
Glad I got to experience it overall. But not sure if I would come back because the food quality was okay.
Excellent service by Tee
Delicious sportier and food
I loved the large area that they had for outdoor seating, but the chairs were terrible, the back on mine was broken so I couldn’t sit back.
The food was okay, but none of us were overly impressed with what we ordered.
The service was kind of the shining star, H was super nice and even though he was quite busy, he was very attentive.
Overall, City Tavern was great. The beer was delicious. The service was friendly. Entrees were very tasty. They've done a good job creating a comfortable and fun outdoor space.
Our only disappointment was the appetizer sweet potato tots, which we remembered fondly from previous visits. This time they were covered in some kind of sugar (maple syrup??). Insanely sweet. They needed some spicy sauce to counteract the sugar. Better still....just let them be sweet potatoes!
But overall we really enjoyed our meal.
Positive experience. Food was a little slow to come out but our service was excellent
Great outside dining and fun atmosphere! We were well taken care of!
Food was good. The service wasn’t great, we waited a long time for bottomless mimosa and didn’t get to take advantage of bottomless for the amount of time we spent at the restaurant. Overall, I would still recommend this place for brunch. It is lively and the food is good.
Can’t remember our server but she was great. Very attentive and had a nice personality.
Excellent food and drink! Service a little slow, but I think the waitress was in the weeds. Otherwise, great experience👍🏽
We were a party of 6. We ordered burgers and the steak and lobster tail. The burgers were great. But our steak came out overcooked... and the fries seem to have been fried in oil that was old. It was not a great experience
Great service, new trainee, she was excellent. Food was great, although they don’t have fish and chips anymore. Brussels sprouts were amazing.
Always a good time. Got to sit outside and relax. Attentive service, but no rushing us. Food and drinker were delicious and filling. Sharing the short rib poutine started everything off well.
Food was good and the staff was nice. Great for everyday dining or brunch.
Our first time here and enjoyed our meal very much, and the service! Definitely be back soon.
Great food and service! Outstanding beer selection!
Restaurant was closed !!!!
The service here was absolutely incredible! They were so attentive to us and our dogs. They immediately brought out bowls of water and moved us to a table that would be easier to sit at with them. We didn’t ask, they suggested it and moved everything for us. I just can’t say enough how wonderful all of the staff was. The food was good though I wouldn’t mind seeing a pancake option on the breakfast menu. My omelet was solid though. Great experience here. Will definitely be back.
This place was amazing! The bacon jalapeño burger is one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Will definitely be back!
I was able to book but when I got there it was closed. I gave the review on previous visits
They were closed
Food was amazing. Great service.
Took more than 40 minutes to get our food.
Service was great.
The staff was great
The restaurant accepted my reservation but was closed WITHOUT NOTICE when I arrived. I was supposed to have a very important business dinner with my boss here but we were stuck outside with the other unhappy customers who got jipped tonight. Awful experience. Had to find another restaurant at the last second.
Great music and the food portions are a good size. A nice place to socialize and for date nights.
It's a busy restaurant and well serviced by the staff; and very friendly. Big selection of good and well prepared food. We will go again.
The shrimp tacos and taco truck chicken sandwich were scrumptious! Love the drinks and the outside patio with my favorite 70’s & 80’s music. This is my go to restaurant for always getting fabulous food!
Great food, drinks and service in a relaxed atmosphere! Where else can you get the perfect surf and turf, with 6 oz. each of steak and lobster, plus spinach and mashed potatoes, for $34?!
We had an outstanding experience at city Tavern for brunch on Sunday. We were able to make a reservation which was a huge plus, and the staff was courteous friendly and attentive. The food across-the-board was delicious, creative and presented well, and everyone was pleased with their portions. It’s difficult to stand out in this field as an American tavern but city Tavern really did the little things in addition to General excellence that made the meal. Special credit goes to the staff that was friendly and on its toes throughout the entire meal. Everyone found specialties that they enjoyed and we will absolutely be back for more.
We made a reservation and when we showed up they were closed
