City Tap House Dupont Ratings and Reviews
Service was atrocious. No waited acknowledged us for an absurdly long time. Waiters would walk by, look at us, and not come to introduce themselves and take our orders. We had to ask a busboy to find us a waiter, and when one finally came by, he didn't introduce himself, but just tersely asked what we wanted. We then waited forever for anything to arrive. I've never had worse service in my life.
The location just opened up near my office. Been to this location a few times since. Typically the service is very good but our server seemed a bit off - our party of 5 all noticed. He would randomly leave while taking our order and then come back a few minutes later. It wasn't a deal breaker but the guy made the beginning a little frustrating.
We went for an early dinner on a weeknight soon after this location opened and were curious to check it out. The food was tasty and the service was quite good, but the noise level is really through the roof and it can get incredibly crowded. It's hard to concentrate on your dining companions or your food at peak drinking/dining hours. There is no separation between the dining area and the bar. It might be nice at lunch, but is far too rowdy for me at dinner. This doesn't matter to some people, but if it matters to you, no matter how tasty the food or good the beer, you won't enjoy yourself as much as at a calmer spot.
I enjoyed this restaurant although we went for a very early dinner so the crowd and the noise level are hard to judge. It’s a nice open space and very comfortable. It’s a good addition to the neighborhood. Could easily be a sports bar and a happy hour place so I’m not sure how going at a regular dinner hour would be. I recommend that they expand their menu a bit. the only really easy, comfort food is a cheeseburger.
We split the corn dip to start. I got a sausage pizza when the night's special tacos turned out to be chicken, since I don't care for fowl. The pizza was very tasty. She had a Simple Salad with steak and like it. She got a dessert to go.
I was once again at how fast the waiters with long quotes on their backs moved, in contrast to their fellows displaying "Enjoy Your Sandwich".
They had just been opened for two weeks when I went with a party of 8 on 10/27. Great service and the food was delicious. Beer menu had a good variety and was organzied by beer type.
Our party started with the brussel sprouts and carrots and entrees included the fish special (trout maybe?), the tuna, crab cakes, salads, etc. Everyone really enjoyed their entrees. I will definitely be back.
Very welcoming lunch service today as city tap house gets acquainted to it's new dupont locale. Had a business group lunch to say goodbye to a coworker and the GM and his team treated us awesomely. We loved the ambiance and will certainly be back for lunch, dinner, after work drinks or just because. Very yummy, and highly recommend the house made ricotta starter.
