City Table at Farmer's Market
It was great!!! I enjoyed my self immensely.
A very enjoyable evening at City Table at Farmer's Market. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Our waiter, Norm was excellent.
It's beautiful, it was not packed but loud. The service was a mess!
My drink took forever which was only a sweet tea. My friend had a salad, which was suppose to be an appetizer and while she finished her salad I had to wait about 30 min to get my meal (Jambalaya). On top of all, she was told she can't order any more food, cause the kitchen was backed up.
The food was amazing as well as the ambiance, it was just service that was unacceptable
I think this restaurant has great bones. Fundamentally, I think it could have longevity, but they have to update their food options and availability of dishes. The service is great, I believe that is the essence of a great restaurant. I think the drinks were lacking the masterfulness of an experienced bartender and the chef (while extremely nice) didn't have enough food prepped by 1 pm lunch service from the prior night.
I plan to give them another chance and will try to update my review.
Our waitress was sweet, helpful and quick with her service. Our food was delicious - we will definitely be back!
It was not the first time going there but the waitress droped off our check before we even finished eating didnt ask if we where done after i informed her that we where getting desert. She apologized and got what i told her we wanted for dessert and then did it again so we left instead of getting more drinks or enjoying the music like we did last time
Ordered the surf and turf, the shrimp were very good, but the sirloin was ordered as medium, the we cit in the rarer it got. I would try this place once more. It was Valentine menu.
One of the best experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant! I had a reservation and they recommended a table to accommodate the occasion. Dropped off flowers before hand and they had them waiting on the table with drinks when we arrived. Service and food was amazing! Very original, highly recommend!
I ordered the Southern Chicken and garlic mash. No vegetable on the playe or offered as a side. Just served as chicken and potatoes. Delicious.....but surprised no veg.
Service and ambiance were great. Quality of the ribeyes and crab cakes was pretty disappointing.
Love the historic vibe at City Table. The ambiance is just what we like, friendly. The wait staff was friendly and efficient and service was prompt. The spinach and crab dip lacked flavor, but the toasted pita points were crisp and buttery. Also didn’t taste or see any crab. The city wedge was huge with loads of bacon and yummy, chunky blue cheese dressing. It was more than enough for 2 people. My husband really enjoyed the crab cake sandwich. My salmon was nothing special. The chocolate cake was decadent, the best we have had in ages. I had a very nice chocolate stout beer. All in all it was a good meal and we would go back and try something else.
I recently visited City Table at Farmer's Market for a night out with my best friend. We were somewhat apprehensive as we had not eaten here before. We were very pleased with our experience. We had an enjoyable evening out with excellent service, environment, food and beverages. We will bring the family next time!
Food and ambiance were both excellent.
Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and had an outgoing personality. It was the perfect place for our dinner.
The Happy Hour oysters were very large and delicious this time. We have been several times, the food is always good and fresh, service is great and it is a very nice atmosphere.
Good food- casual atmosphere- great prices
Food was just ok didn't have enough flavor on the ribeye and they served it over top of a pile of fries which was hard to eat or cut. Also hummus was not good. Waitress was nice, atmosphere was nice and I liked it was close in Petersburg to where I live.
Great date night! Good atmospher. Great service. Good food portions.
Service was great ,- food was just okay! Dessert was delicious!
We attended brunch. We ordered from the menu, as we don’t enjoy buffets. The food was great There was a saxophonist that played throughout, it was beautiful. The building itself was gorgeous. Service was wonderful. Tiffanee was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely visit again.
They are still working out some links in the kitchen, but overall this place is a gem. The building is awesome and the drinks are good. My food was very good but my husband's was a little overcooked. We'll definitely come back.
Food was good, but expensive. Would rate higher but saw the waitress on 2 occasions get drink orders mixed up and take the wrong drink to the wrong person. Instead of getting a fresh drink, she delivered the same drink to the second correct person after first person took a drink. I wonder how many times this happened that we didn't see?
Not very busy but took 45 minutes to get our brunch entrees. Food was ok. Saxophonist was great but loud.
The best part of City Table at Farmer's Market is the space: an excellent renovation of a 19th century hexagonal brick building that once served as a farmer's market. It's a distinctive and attractive dining venue. The cuisine is considerably less distinctive but was capably prepared: my steak was properly cooked to order, and came with good fries. Our party was very impressed with the carrot cake we had for dessert. Our server made a poor first impression -- asking us about three times in the first five minutes after we were seated whether we were ready to order drinks, which we were not because there was only one cocktail menu (which was not especially well organized) for the five of us. But service improved after that rocky start.
We had the best meal. Our waitress was so kind and attentive. I triesthe meatloaf and it was amazing. Good appetizers. Love the atmosphere. We’ll definitely go back.
Getting drinks was the sticking point. Don’t know why that service was so slow. Dinner was fine but two of our party ordered meatloaf and it was out...salmon was cooked to perfection. We will come again and just chalk it up to a hiccup of sorts at the bar and everybody in the mood for comfort food (meatloaf) that night.
our group enjoyed the evening there. best get-together we've had in a long time.
loved the saxophone music. everyone enjoyed their food choices.
Very disappointed in this visit. My husband and I came a few months ago and were blown away by the food and everything. This trip was eh. The waitress was great. The food was sloppy and generally over cooked. We ordered an appetizer that only came with half the ingredients. My husband tried to order the soup on the menu but was told because it was brunch it was offered. It was 1pm. He ordered the club sandwich that came out dry and burnt. My salad was sloppy and looked like everything was thrown in a bowl as was my mother in laws. I understand there is a special Sunday brunch but when the rest of the place is open and able to order from the menu we would expect better food. I probably won’t be coming back unless changes are made. Not worth the drive anymore. It’s a shame it’s a beautiful place.
This is a beautiful restaurant, but the food is not special, or even well cooked. Bland, generic, sad. Had a cocktail and it tasted like canned juice. Not special. The menu looks okay, but the translation for the kitchen is uninspired at best.
Honestly very disappointed. Everything lacked flavor. If I spend over $60 on two meals, they should be fresh and full of flavor. Two ribeyes were both disgusting. Left and just went to Taco Bell for our anniversary
Excellent food, service & ambiance. Cocktails, wine or beer, plenty of choices.
This is our second time as a small party, we brought our family for Easter Brunch in April. On all occasions we have thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
Three meals and a side were ordered. All were wrong.
1) Steak sandwich ordered without mushrooms, came with mushrooms. The fries were substituted with cold chips without asking
2) Ribeye steak ordered medium rare, was delivered both well done, and cold
3) Shrimp and grits were also cold. Tasty, but cold.
4) The caeser salad never even showed up.
This venue and location are both historic and wonderful. It could be a favorite. But sadly, the experience was overall very disappointing. Pretty sure we will not repeat.
We came in at the tail end of brunch I did have a reservation which was not needed because it was not crowded at the time that we went the atmosphere was very very nice the wait staff was nice but at the end she got a little distracted
Loved it. Went to this restaurant because it was on Open Table. Will be back.
We had a reservation at 1830 for Mother’s Day and they were serving buffet that day until 2000. I do realize that my reservation was an hour and half before their buffet ends but I would have expected the food to be at least hot. However, the selection was not as advertised, the food was cold when they should have been hot and some of the dishes were empty. If they are not planning to replenish the entrees. They should have stopped serving it, I would have been glad to order from the menu. It was definitely not with the $40 per person that I paid. Doubt that I would ever go back or recommend anyone to go there.
We went for Mothers Day Brunch/Dinner. Its a nice place but the buffet didnt have enough options for price paid. There was only one buffet section/line so there was a wait. We also had to wait for food to be filled when trays were empty. They could have had a better system on how to do the brunch buffet. The food was ok.
I thought the please would be nice to take the family to for mother's day, first and foremost 35 bucks per plate for what was offered is ridiculous, plus the food was ice cold. I can appreciate the manager comping a few meals and trying to fix the situation but by the time he got there most of us in our party lost their appetite, even my 5 your old literally spit out her Mac and cheese, she absolutely loves Mac and cheese. Such a disappointment we had high hopes for this place since it looked so nice walking in
it was a great Mothers Day Brunch. We had eaten there before, excellent wait staff, food was great, omelette cook was marvelous. made for an extra special Mothers day celebration. You wont be disappointed for any reason.
Three of us took my 90 year old mother for the Mother's Day buffet. We loved the atmosphere and we plan to return for dinner soon. Although the beef tenderloin was definitely too rare, the food was delicious. The veggies were cooked exactly right and were seasoned perfectly. It was difficult to navigate the buffet because there was no place to put the tops of the chaffing dishes while we were serving our plates. The difficulty factor was increased because we were also serving my mom's plate. In some cases, tongs (for green beans) instead of spoons would have made serving easier. Our waiter was very attentive--especially considering what a busy day it was.
The food was delicious, but it took a while to get a waitress to come to our table when we were first seated. I can’t complain too much though, because it improved from there. On the pricier end but was great for mother’s day!
