Great place! Awesome ambiance for brunch, but certain items on the menu felt overpriced. The Avocado Toast could have been improved in value if it was two slices of toast instead of one for $10. Otherwise, everything was great!
Private room at no charge was great!
Best part is being able to bring our furry son with us. The food and drinks are great too!
Glad we could finally get in and now we see why it is so popular. Great atmosphere and the food was excellent. Special kudos to our server, Lia? I believe. Very attentive and she seemed to be having at least as much fun as we were, which is contagious. Not rushed at all despite how busy they were. Definitely coming back.
Excellent food service and atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
The manager Judy was very accommodating when the open table rewards certificate would not load. Will come back based on her assistance
It was a recommendation from a friend and we thoroughly enjoyed it
The Restaurant week menu was not good. Wish we did the regular menu. However the staff was super nice!
I can't speak to the regular menu because we went for restaurant week, but the food was very yummy and the drinks are surprisingly cheap for the area. Will have to check out the 7th floor bar next time I'm there.
Service was a little slow and got one of the main courses wrong. Totally understand that it happens, but they were not exactly apologetic and was slow to get to our table the whole night.
I went to Restaurant Week at City Mouse. It was a great meal, but very very heavy. It may have been the specific selections I made, but everyone at our table had something different and we all felt the same.
Great meal, but I wasn't hungry again until dinner the next day!
Food was fantastic although we went during Restaurant Week and they only served a limited menu instead of the full menu - would have been nice to know that before making the reservation. They do allow dogs which is nice I suppose but we sat next to a table with two dogs who kept barking at each other so that was a bit disruptive. Overall would definitely go back to try more food!
I read some reviews so was wary - but this was great. Their restaurant menu was amazing and our server Joy was always available and near by if we needed anything.
Good tasting menu for restaurant week with a chill atmosphere. We sat on low comfortable chairs. Food was tasty but cocktails were just ok.
So, so loud. Mostly the fault of the neighboring table but the acoustics didn't help. Food was fine but nothing I'd go back for, or maybe the whole experience was just colored by literally shouting to hear each other the whole time.
We visited City Mouse for Restaurant Week and were not disappointed. The atmosphere is minimalist yet somehow cozy, with options that could work for groups or more intimate occasions. The beet salad was generous and tasty, with a nice acidity from the dressing. The star may have been the take-home cookies for dessert which lasted for two days!
My daughter and I went to City Mouse to celebrate her 26th Birthday last Sunday. We were lucky to hit Chicago Restaurant Week, enjoying a prix fixe menu of 4 courses for $48. We ordered different dishes for each course and shared everything. It was all wonderful! We enjoyed the cauliflower soup, octopus "bolognese," sweet potatoes, roasted swordfish and braised short rib. For desert we shared a mango pavlova and a coffee creme brulee. All devine!
Restaurant week menu was $48 for 4 courses. One of the courses I got was just baked sweet potato with some goat cheese. Total rip off. The risotto was hardly seasoned at all. 👎
I went to City Mouse for the 1st time with a couple of my friends. The hosts were very friendly and they checked us in. Our server was not friendly and seemed like we were a nuisance for her. The food was delicious, I am vegan and they did a great job with the food especially the dessert. The noise here was quite loud as well. I like going to busy restaurants and bars, but this was not comfortable when we had to yell across the table to chat with each other. Lastly when our meal was complete, we were not given the option to get a cocktail, we were given the check and that was all. I would consider going to City Mouse but if we were to get the same server again, we would ask for someone else.
Wonderful meal! Will come back.for sure and bring friends!
The food was just average, a bit of a disappointment. The service was more disappointing. I don't htink our waitress smiled once during our encounters and she ignored us for most of our dinner. The other staff members were attentive and friendly.
Bar and kitchen were way behind on a Saturday night. Took far too long to get our food and drinks. They were out of dishes and wine even after we ordered. The food is good, but restaurant is very disorganized.
A group of 6 friends went for restaurant week. While the ambiance was great and the food was spectacular, our waitress didn't come around very often and it felt like an hour in between each course. The restaurant only offered the special menu which were also smaller portions so it didn't seem like it should take very long since they were making limited items. We sat down at 745pm on a Saturday and did not sign the bill until 1045pm. The longer meal had us ordering too much wine with little food in our stomachs. The waitress was very apologetic and did give us a 10% discount from our bill for taking so long. So overall it was very nice, I am hoping the wait time was just a fluke from Restaurant week craziness.
Pasta was very good. Staff is very helpful and will go above and beyond to make your dining experience the best it can be
First night of restaurant week, had 8:30 reservations. Ran out of some options, took 25 minutes to seat us. Understaffed. Very loud, food was delicious as always though! Comped our drinks and discounted because of service. Three hour dinner, because it took so long to bring our food.
We dined here for Chicago Restaurant Week. Overall, the experience was not great due to the extremely slow service. Our entire service took 3 hours. I think we waited about an hour between course 2 and 3. I believe this was their first time participating in CRW, so perhaps they were not prepared. My friend also ended up sending her drink and one of her dishes back, which is not a great sign. I wasn't pleased with my selections and thought the dishes had an extreme amount of salt. However, I don't believe the CRW dishes are on their regular menu so I'm hoping that menu is better. I do want to come back and try their regular menu and bring my pup - They are dog friendly! Hopefully they make improvements by ironing out the service issues.
Our server completely ignored our table. We actually had to get up and follow her to the kitchen several times because she wouldn’t stop at our table. We tried to speak to a manager and the server came up behind us and stood there, making it very uncomfortable for us to be respectfully candid about our experience.
This place was beautiful and the food was great, I had high hopes as soon as we walked in. But the restaurant did not honor our reservation, we showed up right on time and were told that all reservations were pushed back because people were running late so they could not seat us. We should not have been penalized for the people before us missing their times, their reservations should have been pushed not ours. That set the tone, so we sat at the bar to get dinner instead. Our food took forever, our reservation was at 7:45 and we didn’t get our main course until 9:30 or so. The place was packed for restaurant week so I get it, but still i was already annoyed that they didn’t honor our reservation. And the food was good, but it was so overpriced even for restaurant week and the portions were very small. Overall, I’m not sure I would recommend this place to a friend. The service and value for what you’re paying just wasn’t there.
We arrived early and they were able to seat us so that was nice. Our server was lovely and knowledgeable about the food and wine. The food was ok, the winners on the restaurant week menu were the desserts.
Great service, delicious food and nice atmosphere.
Four of us went for lunch during Restaurant Week and were very impressed. The quality of the food was excellent, and the portions were larger than is typical of these menus. The service was very good. The only issue was the noise level. It is a loud room. We all agreed that we would be happy to come back. (The value rating reflects the bargain price of a Restaurant Week lunch, but their regular prices looked moderate.)
Excellent burger. Don’t pass up the pasta!
Service was great, cool place and good food. No idea why it’s not eligible for open table points though ...
We love this place. Whether you are going out for a casual and no frills meal or a date night, City Mouse always impresses. Everyone from the front of house to waiters and bartenders are super courteous and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.
We made a reservation for 6 for my friends birthday. Not everyone had arrived yet, but we were still sat. Joy was an amazing server that was very knowledgeable. Coming back already on tomorrow! Highly recommend.
Went there for a birthday. Food was outstanding and service was great.
Our dinner was fantastic! We loved every dish we ordered-the burrata, tuna, shrimp pasta, and salmon. The service was attentive but not overbearing. I’d definitely recommend it!
Great for foodies! The combination of flavors are very thoughtful. Good vibe in the restaurant too.
I ordered the eggs and bacon for lunch. The bacon was obviously cooked earlier in the morning. The hash browns tasted like the oil in which they were cooked. Valet was expensive
We shared shooters, potato bread, charred carrots, shrimp pasta, scallops, and caramel apple pie. Everything was tasty and creative. Only criticism: bread portion was too small for $8. Otherwise, fair value.
