Great brunch selection, beautiful outdoor patio for enjoying the spring weather. The portabella sandwich bread was delicious.
I had the seafood special—bass on a bed of risotto.
Risotto was a gluey mass. Both it and the fish were heavily over-salted.
We had Shelly as our waitperson. If you have had her before as we have...then you know that everything will go perfectly! And it did.
Our server was outstanding. The food was interesting and delicious. I cannot wait to return to the Chapel Hill area to dine at City Kitchen again.
The hostesses were endlessly patient (we asked to be reseated during peak dinner hours on a Saturday night so that some of the members of our group who have more “life experience” could hear better), the bartender accommodated us while they rearranged our seating, and then Alex (our waiter) was both attentive and entertaining, in perfect measure. All in all, every person we encountered worked to help us enjoy one of the best evenings we’ve had in a long time. Oh, and the food was FANTASTIC!
Ordered the lamb chop for the first time and they were extraordinary. This will become one of those 'difficult-to-order-something-else' items!
Easter Brunch was our first experience here and we brought family visit to from out of town. The food was high quality and delicious, the service attentive without being pretentious and the staff was very knowledgeable. We look forward to coming back.
The Easter Brunch was lovely. My mom, who is not an adventurous eater, had plenty of choices that she enjoyed. The rest of us, who love to experience different flavors, loved every bite we ate. The buffet was well stocked, even towards the end of the event. It was a bit crowded and difficult to make our way to the table through the crowd of diners, but seating was comfortable and we enjoyed the meal very much. We'll recommend to friends in the future. It was a great deal for the amount of food and the quality of food we had.
We went for the Easter Buffet and the food was pretty good. There was a lot of variety but the quality varied. The desserts were the best part. The service was not great but I think they were extremely busy. No one came to take away our plates and we had to flag someone down to get silverware.
Make sure that you request a table downstairs. Easter buffet was very crowded. The buffet
is set up so that the line has to double around when busy. It is also is in the way of the stairs to
go up and down. Food was good. Would like to see a more efficient way of setting up the buffet.
We were upstairs and it was very inconvenient to get food and carry it up stairs.
Friends gathering for a birthday dinner. City Kitchen was nice about our reservation changing from 6 to 5 people, service was very attentive and friendly, delicious food and drinks. We brought our own birthday cake and they cut it and served it for us, added lit candles, and nicely packed up the leftovers. We closed down the place!
The food and service were fantastic for our Saturday lunch outing. Thank you for making a special occasion even more memorable.
Our second time dining here and again was a pleasant experience. Waiter was very attentive and food was excellent. We will definitely return.
Yummy food. Excellent service. Our waiter was a great help with the wine list.
Good food, helpful and friendly staff
Dressy-casual Place with Mediterranean touches. Salmon not over cooked.
Food was good and seasoned well. Server was good but interrupted conversations service although good felt rushed until we settled our bill.
The front desk staff really ought to know not to seat a table for 2 clearly out for a quiet night right next to a table of 8 ladies having a ladies' night. Fortunately, after a few minutes of not being able to hear each other talk over the hens, our waiter was able to move us down the patio away from the large table. After that, it was a quiet, peaceful, WONDERFUL meal.
City Kitchen is a favorite lunch spot. Convenient location, good parking, great service, delicious food. The staff is attentive but not intrusive. Friendly greeting when you arrive and invitation to return when you leave.
The service and food are outstanding!! I was very impressed how personable our server was, not to mention the food is always excellent.
Very impressed with City Kitchen. When you walk in you’re immediately impressed with the layout and decor. Service was really great and the food was delicious. We also preferred off the sushi menu and was impressed with the sushi there. Nice wine list and really great choices from the menu to suit all pallets. The only cons were it was a little bit noisy and we were seated under the HVAC pipe so it was blowing down on the table despite it being so high up in the ceiling. Would definitely return again when traveling to the RDU area for work.
The food was very good. The service was good, but we felt rushed as the wait staff kept trying to clear the table before we were finished.
A great meal, and service, as always, but too loud in the dining area overlooking the kitchen. It was very hard to hear our server. Luckily we all got what we ordered!
The staff was very accommodating for our party's various dietary restrictions. We love coming here for business; everyone gets something they like.
Birthday. No special birthday treat
We enjoyed City Kitchen. Great Pizza and salads. My son and I had the Ribeye steak.
Very flavorful. Highly charred. Expensive for the quality of meat. Great wines and craft cocktails.
Fun and lively ambiance. We would go back but would pass on the steak.
City Kitchen was beyond our expectations! We enjoyed every bite of our food. We had the Tuna w shrimp special. The tuna was cooked rare, perfect! Our waiter Mitch was outstanding. We will definitely be back soon.
Not the best and rather disappointing. 1) All but one of our party arrived together. We were seated with assurances that they would direct our straggler to the table. This did not happen- when the straggler arrived a couple minutes after us he was told he was the FIRST to arrive and to wait for the others. 15 minutes later I had to text him to figure all this out and to get him to our table hidden way in the back. 2) Despite having reservations, we were seated at the backmost dark corner of the restaurant near a kitchen service area. 3) Despite informing staff multiple times (during online reservation and several times at the restaurant) that we were there to celebrate a birthday, no mention of this by any staff member to our party or to the guest of honor whatsoever. 4) Food was overpriced and only okay. 5) Usual quality of a George B. dining experience was nonexistent. WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING!! And will think twice before dining at a George B. establishment again...this after 20 years of patronage.
It’s always a great meal. I had the scallop and mushroom apps which was perfect. You’d lick the plate if there wasn’t any bread! Other diner had salmon and tuna, also done to perfection. The wait staff are always friendly, accommodating and attentive. Only thing is it’s noisy due to building.
A good variety of good food, convenient location and parking and a great server.
Had a reservation, went right to our table, which was appreciated. Our server was awesome throughout the evening. The filet mignon was a bit undercooked, but everything else was very good. It can be a bit difficult to carry on a conversation due to the noise level, but I like the energy!
Took my wife here for Valentine’s Day, 2018. Food was excellent, service was excellent. My only complaint is that they tried to squeeze too many people into their restaurant for this occasion. Our table top was tiny and could not fit two entree plates, water and wine glasses, and a bread plate comfortably(tried to upload pic, but site would not allow. Imagine two dinner plates, four glasses, and a bread plate on top of a 20” pizza). We were also extremely close to other diners, luckily they were nice people on both sides. I will definitely be back to see how they do during a slow Tuesday evening.
Great food! We managed to get a table upstairs, which was a lot quieter than the main room
My wife and I wanted to celebrate Valentine's Day by taking a break from work and going out to lunch, just the two of us. City Kitchen was easy to work with: making the reservation, being seated promptly, and served respectfully. The food was simple, fun, tasty, and healthy. We will definitely go back.
Food is mediocre compared to other Durham Chapel Hill options. Salmon uneven cut, over cooked , oily and had bones in it. Bread dip odd. Caesar salad average. Cocktails slightly above average . Crispy oysters good. Lots of competition at this price! The decor and art was awesome. Convenient mall parking.
We stopped for lunch. The food was barely OK. Very standard selection and prepared in an uninteresting way. Not tasty. The service war fine and the place itself is perfectly fine.but the main reason to go is the food. I would not recommend the restaurant.
Excellent service! They called to confirm our reservation, the hostesses greeted us warmly and our waiter, Dane, was very attentive without being overbearing. The perfect balance. The manager was involved with his staff throughout the evening providing guidance or help when needed. The food was very good although priced a few dollars too much for what you receive.
Everything was WONDERFUL except for the NOISE LEVEL which was terrible! Carpet? Baffles?
I have enjoyed many delicious meals and outstanding service with two or more friends
