Had a reservation, went right to our table, which was appreciated. Our server was awesome throughout the evening. The filet mignon was a bit undercooked, but everything else was very good. It can be a bit difficult to carry on a conversation due to the noise level, but I like the energy!

Took my wife here for Valentine’s Day, 2018. Food was excellent, service was excellent. My only complaint is that they tried to squeeze too many people into their restaurant for this occasion. Our table top was tiny and could not fit two entree plates, water and wine glasses, and a bread plate comfortably(tried to upload pic, but site would not allow. Imagine two dinner plates, four glasses, and a bread plate on top of a 20” pizza). We were also extremely close to other diners, luckily they were nice people on both sides. I will definitely be back to see how they do during a slow Tuesday evening.

Great food! We managed to get a table upstairs, which was a lot quieter than the main room

My wife and I wanted to celebrate Valentine's Day by taking a break from work and going out to lunch, just the two of us. City Kitchen was easy to work with: making the reservation, being seated promptly, and served respectfully. The food was simple, fun, tasty, and healthy. We will definitely go back.

Food is mediocre compared to other Durham Chapel Hill options. Salmon uneven cut, over cooked , oily and had bones in it. Bread dip odd. Caesar salad average. Cocktails slightly above average . Crispy oysters good. Lots of competition at this price! The decor and art was awesome. Convenient mall parking.

We stopped for lunch. The food was barely OK. Very standard selection and prepared in an uninteresting way. Not tasty. The service war fine and the place itself is perfectly fine.but the main reason to go is the food. I would not recommend the restaurant.

Excellent service! They called to confirm our reservation, the hostesses greeted us warmly and our waiter, Dane, was very attentive without being overbearing. The perfect balance. The manager was involved with his staff throughout the evening providing guidance or help when needed. The food was very good although priced a few dollars too much for what you receive.

City Kitchen never disappoints! The food is always excellent and the service is above and beyond. This time, we tried the butternut squash, bacon, and brie pizza -- just as droolworthy as it sounds -- and had the calamari (always good) and the spinach and artichoke dip (mmmm). It is an excellent spot for a date night or taking guests from out of town to show them how good the Chapel Hill food scene is.

Everything was “just okay.” Went during restaurant week and wasn’t thrilled with the entree options. Lamb meatballs were good! I’d give them another try to test out the full menu. Nice atmosphere.

We had a lovely round table for 6. Our server, Shelly is fantastic. We always ask for her because she is so charming and always gets the orders right. Our 4 guests had never been and they all were extremely impressed with the food, service and smashing decor!

We had a bit of a hiccup with the reservation as there was quite a line to get in during restaurant week-but it was resolved. The service and food were spectacular!

We had a great dinner on Saturday night. The food was wonderful, the service a bit slow but helpful, and the only thing that marred the evening was how incredibly noisy it was in there. We were a long table of eight, and it was impossible to talk to anyone except the person on either side of you or directly across -- one end of the table had one conversation and the other end another. 4 of the guests had never been to City Kitchen before and each proclaimed that s/he would return. Those of us who are locals decided that Saturday night might not be "the night" for a large party, but will definitely be back.

Beautiful restaurant with beautiful and delicious food! We enjoyed all of our dishes, including the crispy calamari, the spicy brussels sprouts, and the bread. The hangar steak salad is, by far, the best steak salad I've ever eaten. So flavorful . . . just perfect. The butternut squash pizza is a must-try! So, so good! The apple tart with ice cream was pretty and delicious. We had an awesome server who was attentive and knew the menu well enough to make awesome recommendations. Can't wait to go back to City Kitchen!

We picked this restaurant after reading a review indicating that it was a good option for gluten free needs. We were disappointed that the menu did not indicate which options were gluten free. The server was also not familiar with which dishes were gluten free, but did ask the chef and eventually returned with his recommendations. Overall, this did not inspire great confidence regarding the attention to gluten free needs. However, in our party of 6, everyone enjoyed their selections and our gluten free guest dined with no ill effects.

The food is quite good, but very high priced for the portion size. I have been here twice and both times went home hungry (and I weigh 110 lbs). The noise level made it impossible to hear those sitting across the 4 person table and the waiter was over constantly asking for our order, our dessert request, etc. as if he was rushing us to get out from the second we arrived. I doubt I will return, though my meal (risotto) was delicious.

I've always liked City Kitchen. I go there often. But $8 for a little dish of vanilla ice cream?! Previously I paid $3 or $4 and it was an off-menu request. Now it's on the menu, but I failed to notice the price. I won't make that mistake again.

I had Thanksgiving lunch at City Kitchen. The place was packed. The food was only okay. I think its hard to control the quality of a buffet and should have known better to think a buffet would be acceptable for Thanksgiving since I don't like buffets any other time of the year.

The Thanksgiving buffet was not up to City Kitchen's normal quality and standards. I'll continue to eat there for other meals but wouldn't go there again for a Thanksgiving buffet.

We have been to this restaurant multiple times over the last few years. The food was always ok and it was always easy to get a table. During this visit my wife ordered two sushi rolls. When they arrived my wife went to take a bite of one and a bug walked out of it. Suffice it to say she did not eat it. We told the waiter this and he did not seem to care and the manager was not even notified when we complained. I had to ask twice to have the sushi rolls taken off from my bill. Due to this we will never go back to this restaurant
