Went there for brunch-lunch. Highly recommend the grilled salmon salad and the pimento cheese grit cakes.
We brought friends new to the area - all w a variety of tastes and preferences. Everyone was pleased from beef lovers to the vegetarians. Service was much improved from last visit which was almost a year ago. We will return more often!

We were seated right away as we had a reservation. Our table for two was tiny - much smaller than the tables for two on either side of us. We ordered an appetizer that arrived just 2 minutes before our entrees. We hardly had room for the entree plates and the appetizer. The food was excellent and priced as I would expect for the area. Our server was pleasant but I had to ask for a beverage refill. The manager came by during the meal and we told him of the error in entree timing. He just nodded and then moved on to the next table. Overall I would try again at City Kitchen because of the quality of the food.

Thanksgiving buffet was not well planned. Long wait and long lines with reservations. Food temps were off and not as enjoyable. Large parties might be best served family style. Will not return for Thanksgiving because of lines and lack of variety on the hot line.
Fine dining with so many beautiful dishes from which to choose. Not your "typical" restaurant buffet...these were delicious, top quality foods presented so artistically. Service staff was very attentive and caring and so many talented kitchen staff in evidence.

Food was fabulous!! Really, really good. Service was disappointing. Never saw our server after other servers brought meal, and we all needed drinks refilled. Also, brought dessert but no utinsels. It was disappointing when the mean itself was really really tasty.
It took a while for our server to come to our table, but he was friendly when he did arrive. Took too long for drinks to be served. One person ordered Caesar salad with no anchovies. It arrived with anchovies. When we mentioned this to the waiter (although she was just putting the anchovies to the side), the waiter said “you do know there are anchovies in the dressing.” Seemed a little snarky. Yes, there is anchovy paste in the dressing, having whole anchovies on your salad is totally different and many people do not like.
Lovely! We love everything about it! We shared the risotto and the spare ribs. Both were delicious!
My husband and I had a great time, and enjoyed our date night. Very cool vibe. However, my salmon dish was just OK. My husband loved the short rib. It took us 2.5 hours, from sit down to leaving, which I didn’t mind because we had grandma babysitting, but be prepared for a long meal!
Two of three entrees came out in a timely fashion, but my husband’s came out 20 minutes later. It’s always so awkward when one person is sitting there watching the others eat.
Although they weren’t quite ready for us when we arrived for our reservation, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and time there. Our appetizer got forgotten and we were told that the appetizer chef didn’t show up on time. They took it off our bill as we had already been served our main meal. I got the special -a shrimp risotto and it was absolutely delicious
What a lovely restaurant! Everyone was welcoming, right from the greeting at the door and offer of several table choices. Waiter Lee was appropriately attentive. Manager Robert kept an eye on everything and stopped by for a pleasant chat. The jazz music was exactly the right volume to be lively but allow conversation. Everything we ate was top notch, beginning with the fried artichoke starter and ending with a new carrot cake dessert. We will surely be back, and are glad to know that there are many more restaurants under the same ownership for us to try.
This is an excellent place to have dinner! The waiter was very attentive, and the manager made it a point to check in on us. The food was absolutely delicious, and it was unlike anything that I’ve ever tasted. The ambiance was very modern and refined, making for a pleasant dining experience.
Good wine! Good food! Outstanding service by Alex! The soup of the day was a variation of chicken tortilla soup except more brothy and with a Pico de Gallo chutney. The fried artichoke hearts were amazing! My wife had the trout dish and I had the Greek salad with steak. We had a bottle of Ma Roat Valpolicella Rippasso to go with the evening. We highly recommend the wine, the meal, and the server!
Great menu options at reasonable prices. Wait staff very attentive.
Restaurant space is nice, a little sparsely filled at lunch. My pasta was really overcooked and hard to eat because the noodles kept falling off the fork. Chocolate mousse for dessert was nice.
Waited ~1 hr for the appetizer. Other diners who came after us received their food first - even the same dish. The servers were apologetic and I’m sure it was just a one-off unpleasant experience.

I was celebrating my five years of cancer survivorship with three friends. We were able to sit outside in the corner. We all had salmon salads and had a wonderful waiter, Adam who was wonderful and attentive. A great lunch!!!!

It suddenly became very busy while we were there as people flooded in from a UNC football game, and we watched our server being pulled in various directions causing us to have to wait for certain items. Overall, it's a very good restaurant, and we will return.

Our server Nataliia was amazing. Attentive to every detail of our dining experience. The young man who showed us to our table was also aware of our setting as he allowed us to move a couple of tables down from the kitchen to avoid any noise. Any noise from the kitchen was minimal. My wife and daughter had highly recommended City Kitchen and I wholeheartedly agree with their assessment of your establishment. Dined with a friend I had not seen in 36 years so in all our catching up we never felt rushed at all. Perfect choice for our get together.

We had a great meal, al fresco, at City Kitchen. Our waitstaff was delightful and the food was so delicious. We had the blackened salmon and steak salads, both so very tasty. Our waitstaff suggested the chocolate mousse for dessert and boy was she right. It was creamy and silky and oh so yummy. It was rich enough for all of us to split and still feel like we had dessert. We love the outdoor dining area. It was a nice evening to sit and enjoy a meal before it gets too cold to be outside to eat. We’ll be back for sure!

We arrived at dinner hoping for a deliciously enjoyable meal. Unfortunately, this was not the evening we experienced. Upon arrival, we were led to a table that was already occupied and left by the host as he went to figure out where to actually sit us. Once we had a table, we were brought water in a timely manner but did not see our server for 10 minutes. After placing our order we waited another 10 minutes for bread.
We ordered a salad to start, a flatbread and two sushi rolls. Rather than bringing the salad first and then the entrees, everything was brought at once making it difficult to enjoy the dishes. Also, the sushi setup was not delivered in advance leaving me waiting for chopsticks, soy sauce and a ramekin for quite a while. The topper was the server ordering the incorrect rolls which led to additional waiting while the correct roll was made.
Had the food been amazingly delicious, I may have been able to overlook some of the slip ups, but all of the food was mediocre at best. The sushi was lacking depth of flavor. The flatbread was listed as having light sauce but was actually quite saucy and the mozzarella did not taste very fresh. The Caesar was the only redeeming dish of the night.
In regards to service, there seemed to be a lot of staff working during the shift, however, our server only came to our table a few times. If we needed something, water refilled, soy sauce, bread, we usually ended up asking someone else, as our server could not be found. Our server did apologize for the issues and our dissatisfaction and adjusted the bill, but even that took multiple attempts before it was printed correctly. The final straw was that a manager never came to follow up with us before we left.
City Kitchen does have many positive reviews and it’s possible that we just hit it on an off night. That being said, I doubt we will be returning any time soon.

I would. However I would advise them of the noise level. When busy it’s hard to hear the other people at your table.
Hi Nancy, City Kitchen is known for its energetic atmosphere for group events and great for large reservations such as birthday parties, engagement celebration, engagement rehearsals, and business meetings. The noise level on a busy day is unavoidable. However, on a beautiful day we do have patio space that may be more quiet to your liking. Hope to see you and your family again!

Worst service in a long time. Waited 25 minutes for food and server asked how everything was before we had taken first bite. Didn’t see him for another 20 minutes, empty water glasses. Had brought an out of town guest and was totally embarrassed.

We were in NC for Parents Weekend @ Elon. We decided to take a drive to Chapel Hill for lunch prior to bringing our son back to Camus. After much searching (and not knowing the area) we decided on City Kitchen due to their lunch menu. Well - on Sunday’s they in serve Brunch. After looking back at the Open Table booking, it does say Sunday “Brunch.” But it does not say “Brunch Only.” When I asked the waitperson - his response was “Yes, there seems to be a disconnect between our on-line information and our restaurant.” So buyer beware if you are looking at their lunch menu on a Sunday. Food was good, service was good, interior was very nice and the bar area looked inviting. I cannot say I would go back. My son and I had the Trout PoBoy - it was good, but more fishy tasting that I would expect trout to be. The jicama coleslaw (ordered on the side) was not appetizing as all. They should reconsider a sweet coleslaw to compliment the spicy remoulade.

We dine here a lot when we are in Chapel Hill because it’s always great food, service and atmosphere! It’s a Tarheel friendly place for sure.
Sat outside on a beautiful day. The food was good, but the server was incapable of serving without being asked repeatedly. He was nice, but he was a mediocre waiter. I have had much better service there.

Great for birthday gathering. Food was good. Server slow as molasses in January. 1/2 the table served food and the 10 minutes passed before everyone else’s food delivered. Had to find the manager to get the bill.

My friend and I found the restaurant very noisy. We asked for a table removed from the bar but it was still difficult to hear each other talk.
We ordered calamari which was sitting in tomato sauce. We did not care for the recipe. The calamari at Elements is excellent in case your chef wants to check it out. The spare ribs were delicious.We both enjoyed them.
Great food and sushi although not a featured menu item , was very good. Great recognition and attention by general manager and manager. Busy Saturday night (bit noisy) and enjoyed the experience.
