At City House in Nashville, TN, Chef Tandy Wilson makes an amazing array of dishes to pair up with the enormous array of artisan cocktails, wine and bourbon or whiskey choices available. A popular Sunday brunch gives a unique dining experience, but many come for the regular dinner menu.

Went with my girlfriend and they wanted to seat us in the lower floor room (where bar is). This area is so noisy as to be unacceptable for any kind of normal (and especially intimate) conversation. They refused to seat us upstairs -- only for parties of 4 or more -- but fortunately it was still warm enough to eat outside on the patio. This is family style seating but fortunately it wasn't too busy so there was a seat between us and the couple at our table. It is pretty on the patio and the service was very good ... as was the food. The cheese and potato appetizer is delicious and sinful. I really enjoyed the lamb rigatoni. Entrees are good but menu is limited.

Ate here one week ago for the third (and last) time in 3 years. The first two visits were outstanding, prompting our return. This visit, with a friend in town from San Francisco, was horrible. We were seated in the upstairs room with a LOUD party of seven. Our waiter was indifferent to the situation but finally had the Manager move our table. The Manager was unprofessional about the whole matter and when we asked her to waive the $20 corkage, she refused stating, "Why should we be penalized for being a popular restaurant?" Good business acumen, losing future business over $20.

Wonderful experience while in Nashville. Was referred by another visitor and was delicious. Sunday night is a menu comprised by the chefs to make it interesting and fun for small plates to be shared. Perfect!!

Great restaurant just minuets away from downtown Nashville. If you want to get away from the bar scene on Broadway and have a good meal this is the place to go.

We enjoyed our Sunday supper here very much;melon appetizer,pizza and delicious ice cream sandwiches for dessert with a couple of glasses of excellent Prosecco. The food seemed overpriced to me and the neighborhood is a little sketchy. Overall though,a fun choice in Nashville;the bar could be better

Upon arrival we were excited. It is literally a charming old house with a clean open feel. Our server however was not so charming, he seemed disinterested and blase. We didn't understand all the hype about the food, as it was boring and uneventful. Although they tried to make it seem like homestyle country food with a gourmet edge (to appeal to foodies), one plate was basically just dried cornbread cut to look like gnocchi with butter beans thrown in...not inspiring with first, or second bite. The other plates not much better. Sorry, I wanted to like it, but just didn't, at all. Even the drinks were a disappointment. Maybe we hit an off night there, as many people about town recommend this place. But we just didn't get it.

Tandy Wilson's City House is simply one of - if not the very - best restaurants in Nashville. The food will make you weak in the knees it's so good, and the staff/service is just terrific. They make you feel like you're family coming in to share some conversation, great food, and an overall great time. I can't recommend it enough. I know some find the place to be a bit uncomfortable since it doesn't have tablecloths, plush dining chairs, and so forth, but it doesn't need it. This feels like a home kitchen where you relax, enjoy the company, music, great attitude, and food that's to die for. If you haven't been, what are you waiting for!!

Wonderful night and food. However, when we walked in we asked if we could be seated on the porch because there were 3 open tables. Instead we were told they were for walk-ins only. The accommodation of the host would have been nice.

Otherwise, great experience.

Fresh. Vibrant. Flavorful.
Delicious contrasts.
Soup was incredible.
Pizza as good as my Italian father-in-laws.
And you have to be real confident to have cookies on your dessert menu.
Everything was over the top and reasonable priced.

Had the lemon ricotta pound cake and my daughter had the chocolate cake. Absolutely amazing. Pizzas and pastas were wonderful too. Good value for the money also.

My wife and I dined there a night that the power was going on and off and the AC was down (all because of a storm). We initially were seated inside where it was hot and stuffy due to no AC, but our kind waitress offered to move us to the covered patio that had fans. The patio was super comfortable and had great ambiance! The belly ham pizza was delicious, and the cornbread gnocchi was tasty too. All in all a great night, and our server who moved us to the patio saved it!

It was unfortunate that just as we gave our orders there was a clap of thunder and the power went out. It came back in a minute but unfortunately the ac did not. So it got very warm and smokey as they have an open wood fire. My wife ordered their special which was lamb and goat and the meat was very tough. With the concrete walls sound reverberates so it was difficult to have a conversation. We may try them at lunch just to see if things can be better.

We ordered appetizer, octopus and soup, both were delicious. The soup bowl was a generous helping. For dinner, the pizza, trout and catfish all wonderful size portions to share. We did have gelato and sherbet for dessert, a must try.

We had an early reservation, I felt the wait staff may have wanted to rush us for the next seating. That would be m only negative comment about the restaurant. We will definitely return.

Excellent service, delicious food. Portion sizes are just right! Fish is amazing, as is linguini. Side dishes (particularly the grits) are terrific. Italian with a southern twist. We will be back!

My reservation was one of the first of the night, so when we arrived the dining room was practically empty. We were sat in a noisy area and asked to be moved to the quieter dining room upstairs; we were told that it was going to be busy later and those tables were being reserved for parties of 3 or more. We insisted on being moved and they finally complied by moving us but letting us know they needed our table by 7 (which gave us plenty of time to eat as a 2-top but was extremely rude to say to us). Our server was very friendly and knowledgable. The food was pretty good, but it wasn't anything exciting. I really wanted to love this place but after coming here once, I don't see myself returning.

A glorified pizza joint which is hard to find. After several tries, found it and then we were put in a tiny corner (hard against the brick wall) with no room to move your arms. I asked to move and then was shown a more appropriate table. When I requested a table outside, I was told that those tables were for walk-ins. My trout was good. vegetables very ordinary. My companion chuck steak which was tough, tasteless and cold. The accompanying grits tasted like cream of wheat with a little cheese on top. In addition, the restaurant was so loud and noisy it was difficult to hear my companion immediately across the table from me. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant to many people; only those interested in a pizza restaurant.

The first time I went to City House, I loved it. I came back this time and had a horrible experience. One person on your staff in particular was rude and condescending, in retrospect we should have left before ordering dinner. It's not good policy to assume you know more than your customers about wine or food and then proceed to insult them. I don't think I'll be going back, there are other places with great food in Nashville with better manners.

Came here for the pizza and they were sold out of it before 9pm. Ordered gnocchi and catfish. Catfish was nothing special (good portion size) and the grits were cold.

I want to give City House another try because everyone raves about it!
