Excellent place for a first date or business brunch.
The menu is so limited that you either walk out or choose something because it's the best of poor choices. This is a Bistro in a hotel and the menu seemed as if it came from a chef who was trying to impress other chefs in a foreign country.
My steak was very good and cooked to perfection, but it came on a plate surrounded by onions, no sides, and the a la carte sides were also ridiculous.
I asked the manager why the lights were so bright for dinner and he said because we are showing off the subway tiles. The decor as nice, but there is such a thing as a dimmer switch.
We came to the Adolphus for a weekend getaway for my wife's birthday. We ate breakfast at City Hall Bistro. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and were seated in just a few minutes. Our server,
Heather did an excellent job of taking care of us during our meal. The bistro has a great vintage vibe, unfortunately the food was mediocre and lack luster.
Very beautiful restaurant, great seating and service, prices reasonable. We had the seafood paella with roasted vegetable gratin, tasted very good, but toast was slightly burned. Wine service was good.
This has been my first true good best food and service experience in Dallas, where people do their job because they are passionate, and such good food thinking on balancing every flavor and using the best quality. I just can say this is my favorite restaurant in Dallas and congratulations!!!
The coffee was great, and the french toast delicious. Service was attentive without being a nuisance.
This place was beautiful and friendly. Host knew who we were before we arrived and sat us as requested on reservation. The food was phenomenal. Great place will be back.
Good not great.
Friendly staff. Flavorful food. I had a the roasted cauliflower, the pimento toast with crab, and a quartino of Sardinian grenache. Would definitely return on my next visit to Dallas.
Great spot and really enjoyed our meal. Will definitely come here again.
Great, lovely service, beautiful presentation
Excellent cuisine, wonderful staff. So good!
Amazing! Great atmosphere and food
Start to finish - Not a good experience.
I will admit that the service was good and I was pleased with the wine but my dinner was AWFUL. The"Duck Salad" had about 4 tiny slices of what may have been duck. The rest was cabbage or something red drowning in olive oil. One of my guests ordered the fish and that was all there was in the middle of the plate.
We went there for my wife's birthday. They knew why we were there and many of the staff stopped by to wish her a happy birthday. The food was creative and delicious. The bartender knew how to make a great Manhattan. Parking is valet but the restaurant validates.
Gorgeous atmosphere and beautiful presentation!
Date night was fantastic. The servers were incredible and food was brought out in timely fashion. Food was superb and nice wine list!
Worst food I've ever had. I rarely complain about food and how it tastes bc Im not a picky eater. But my GOD, it was so bad, we all took a bite and left it. The only thing that was somewhat edible was the salad and even that was mediocre. The dressing was watered down like the lettuce was washed and wasnt drained enough. I couldn't believe how salty and tasteless all the dishes were and we ordered & shared Pappadelle, charred octopus and paella..... Never going back or recommending the place to anyone. The place needs to hire a new chef.
We had a wonderful experience and definitely recommend City Hall Bistro! The concept here is for the guests to order a couple of items each and then the table shares all the items so you can sample and enjoy a little bit of everything. Great idea! Our table was over flowing with delicious dishes from cheeses to scallops to risotto. Our server was friendly and my Pop said this was the best service he has had in a long time. Thanks to the outstanding staff and kitchen crew at City Hall Bistro for a memorable meal with my family!
Loved it. Chia pudding was refreshing, just enough sweetness, and texturely fun. The creme brulee french toast is on point. Loved how the rolled it up. The steak was cooked medium rare as ordered, and seasoned appropriately. The potatoes had a bit too much sauce though. Would order all 3 again.
This is a downtown gem!!! If you live downtown bonus for you but if you live outside the city just whip in, pull up to valet and prepare to be amazed! As if admiring the renovations of the Adolphus were not enough on their own (and they are) we were truly impressed with each and every dish. Colton was an excellent waiter and the soundtrack was even superb!
The steak tartare is excellent as an app. We shared the short rib sandwich and the branzino - both were excellent but the branzino barely edged out the sandwich. Would highly recommend both!
I decided to dine here because of their menu and instead I acquired an amazing experience both with food, staff and ambience. I highly recommend this place!
Amazing place and awesome food, highly recommended!
service and food were outstanding! décor is kind of cold but seating is comfortable. did not feel rushed in anyway.
Food is fresh, simple and healthy. I always love restaurants who knows how to portion on serving size. I'd rather pay good money for good food that is not overly abundant and wasteful.
They were super busy and service turned out to be a little slow. Food and cocktails were good and sharing everything was fun. The hotel is gorgeous, cool place to bring visitors.
The service was awful, our server basically sat down with one of his tables to talk for half an hour and never check in on us or asked us if we needed more drinks, dessert or the check. For the value youre better off elsewhere
What a great restaurant at a fabulous hotel. The food was amazing. Every dish was executed so well - octopus, papardelle with pork ragout, duck breast salad, and the mussels were outstanding. We enjoyed the tapas approach of sharing and we will be back.
Excellent food. Delicious veggie dishes. Great service.
The food is good but not good enough to make a special trip downtown . D magazine raved but I didn’t have the same experience . Pretty basic diner fair with a twist .
The service was perfection. For a date night, the lighting is a little bright but other than that , this is a sophisticated restaurant with a bit of professionalism (but not too stuffy) - as the name should imply. The food - is amazing though. I had the prawns in the most amazing (bread-dipping) sauce I've ever had - and my husband had one of the amazing paella dishes - even stuffy foodies would be won over. We also had the oysters for an appetizer - while the vinegary brine they were served with was not my fave, they were very fresh. We didn't try dessert, but I can bet they are wonderful too.
Great service. Our appetizers of oysters and sunchokes were great! Our entrees weren’t great though the steak was one of the worst I’ve had, hard to cut full of tendons and Gristle. my girlfriends pasta dish lacked flavor.
The churro desert was good
We had charcuterie, sunchokes, a pork secreto, and the whole branzino. The charcuterie and sunchokes were both tasty, as expected. The pork secreto was well-cooked but far too bland; it's prominent flavor was mere sweetness. The grits accompanying it were tasty, but not spicy enough for balance. The branzino was nicely cooked, but again trended toward blandness.
Dessert--the churros--was delicious. The saffron ice cream complemented the sweet churros well. I would have liked chocolate in addition to caramel for dipping.
Amazing menu, service & atmosphere!!
Went for brunch was great
I must first issue a disclaimer. I am not very big on brunch, especially when the menu is 80% egg centric so I was disappointed to find that on a Saturday lunch outing at 1:00 p.m. I was stuck with a brunch menu. Having said that, the shakshuka ordered by my guest was wonderful and full of warm, rich flavors. The pork secreto sandwich that I ordered was less successful--there were way too many things going on with this sandwich, and the pork itself was rather disappointing. The egg itself was beautifully cooked, but I could have done without all sauces and cheese. They rather overwhelmed the dish. The paps bravas, however, had just the amount of spice and were cooked perfectly. The service was friendly and top notch, making for a very enjoyable dining experience. I will definitely go back, but will do so when a regular menu is being offered.
Great service. The lamb burger was incredibly overdone. The cheese plate and the short rib sandwich, however, were excellent as were the drinks.
My girlfriend and I came here for Christmas lunch thinking the hotel would be lovely. It was minimally decorated. Hotel construction at the entrance definitely did not set a grand impression, not the restaurant's fault at all. We came to CHB because of D magazine's "Top 10 New restaurants" review. The ambiance is stark and uninviting, all white and cold white subway tiles. I got the leafy green salad with shrimp. It was nothing special at all, small, not much flavor and just pretty boring shaved carrots. The 3 shrimp (additional $9) were small but cooked perfectly. My friend got the Duck salad. She said it was good, but not great, way too much radicchio. The toasted sourdough bread was the highlight. We opted out of dessert as nothing appealed. The service however was very attentive. It was nice that the restaurant validated our valet parking. I would not return to this restaurant, in my opinion, it was overrated, over priced.
