Very nice weekend brunch with friends. Food was excellent as always. Staff was very flexible in managing our reservation...and very helpful in providing assistance in managing the young baby at our table.

The food was incredible, but the service was slow. A table next to our party had been served their appetizers and we had not even been offered waters.

Went on a Friday night before a show at the Lyric. Even though it was very crowded we were seated right on time for our 6:15pm reservation which gave us plenty of time to have a leisurely dinner and then make the 10 minute walk to the venue with plenty of time to spare. Our entrees were very good (2 of us ordered the bronzini, 1 ordered the pasta with chicken and pesto sauce). The bar was very busy and drinks were a bit slow to arrive. Perhaps this also explains why they were not very good. The $9 orange crush was nothing more than a weak vodka and orange juice over crushed ice; the bloody Mary was watery and overly spiced with Old Bay seasoning (why does every bar in Baltimore think that a bloody Mary must be served in a glass rimmed with Old Bay?). Our server was really a pleasure.

The steak was especially delish this night. The desert (maple pumpkin cheesecake) was really good. Great dinner, service, and overall experience

Love their omelets! Service is great . The place is very loud so it makes it difficult to have a conversation.

I have been to City Cafe a few times before attending plays at Center Stage. There was something off about this most recent visit. The food can out cold and was mediocre at best. The service wasn't good either. I would always look forward to my outings here but after this last meal I won't be back. A real disappointment.....

Not the best foot forward. It was busy and we sat a long time to order drinks. Then it was a long time for them to arrive. In fact, it arrived after our salads arrived. Food was ok. My pot pie just seemed like they put the filling in a bowl threw a puffed pastry on it and called it a pie. No effort. The lamb burger was under seasoned and the fries were soggy. The salads seemed thrown together for the theater crowd. Get in, eat and get out! Don’t know if kitchen staff has gotten tired, but it seemed so. It used to be better. Oh and stay away from the upstairs you are on the last for service!

Consistently pleased. It’s my go too when I’m in Baltimore. The food is consistently delicious and the servers friendly. The food is delivered quickly and no matter what I order I’m always pleased. My favorite area to sit other than on the sidewalk, weather permitting, is in the bar area

After they finally sorted out which waitress was actually serving our section the meal was excellent. I always enjoy coming here for special occasions or for their brunch. Just make sure that you remember their kitchen closes from 3-4pm.

We enjoyed our dinner and food. However, the bathroom availability left a lot to be desired. There are only 2 for the entire restaurant? and they weren't very clean. Long lines.

I came twice in the last month- once for a board dinner and once with friends pre-theatre.

On both occasions we had great customer service, were impressed with the menu selection (which allowed for multiple dietary restrictions), and very much enjoyed the quality of food.

We will be back!

Overall great visit. Lost a star for ambience because the tables were too close together. I wasn't really interested in hearing the conversation of the neighboring table but was forced to due to the proximity of the tables. Food and service were excellent.

It was busy---we sat in the downstairs bar area and were served by Sean, our bartender, who was wonderfully attentive, funny and sweet. Would have him serve us anytime, and he made us unbelievable tasting drinks.

I really liked City Cafe. Great ambiance -- lively but you could still talk. Excellent service, very interesting menu with some delicious food. We loved the corn fritters and the pesto chicken pasta. Two of us had steak frites -- both of us loved the steak but didn't love the truffle fries, but that's probably personal preference. They were cooked wonderfully.

I almost always eat here before the Symphony. I get here at 6 and have dinner with the friend I'm going to the Symphony with. I look forward to choosing a favorite from the great menu and having either a good wine or cocktail. Some of my favorites are the Lamb Burger, the Fall salad, and the fried oysters with aioli! Sooz

Pleasantly surprised with the menu, great plates that offer fresh and healthy options. Great space. The space was beautifully decorated with stone tables, metal and wood accents. Lots of space on both levels. Music chose was a little rowdy, felt like you were at a club. Would have preferred something more mellow since it was a relaxing Sunday brunch. Will definitely go again!

A little loud for my taste, but that's me. Service was pretty mediocre...took 12 minutes to deliver my drink order after nearly 10 minutes waiting to place said order. The fried green tomatoes with crab were quite delicious. They could have let the tomatoes sit a little longer on the paper towel to absorb some of the grease, but there was plenty of lump crab on top which made me forget that. The beurre blanc sauce with pepper flakes seemed a little bland. My entree--seared duck breast with roasted brussels sprouts--was a triumph! PERFECTLY cooked duck with the most delicious cranberry glaze. Nicely roasted brussels sprouts and potato puree rounded out a beautiful dish.

I hate writing this review because I had always had good to great experiences at City Café. Not this time. The waiter was overly attentive at the start and disappeared at the end, leaving dirty dishes in front of everyone for far too long. Then some dirty dishes were taken while others were allowed to remain for an extended time. The staff did not appear to have been trained on how to pour wine. The waiter misidentified what he was serving (the waiter asked who ordered the popcorn chicken when what we had ordered was fried oysters and what he was holding was fried oysters). The 4 entrees did not arrive together. The food disappointed as well. Things seemed overly oiled. The Spring Rolls were oily. The asparagus with the steak frite was drowning in oil. The frites were mushy from oil. The steak was over salted. The chicken pot pie was good, not great and the puff pastry on top was puffed so high it was unmanageable. The bronzini was cooked well as was the tuna in the tuna poke. The restaurant was not as crowded as in the past. Has word gotten out that the food isn't so good anymore? I'm hoping this was a one time aberration. This was disappointing. I will give the City Café another chance and will continue to recommend it. But fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
