The fish tacos needed more seasoning Other than that everything was great
Two of the small plate dishes were excellent and we would go back - at a quieter time - to enjoy them again: the lobster tostada and the black bean hummus with crab. The other two dishes, a fish taco and the grilled octopus were disappointing. The restaurant was packed on the Friday evening we went, but the service was good. For us, we are seniors, the noise level was more than we prefer.
I had a great birthday dinner! Loved the ambiance and friendly service. The food was also yummy, but definitely small portions. I would definitely come here again!
Fantastic food and creative cocktails! Will definitely be going back again soon!
Good meal for Mother’s Day. The best hone made chips
It's always a hit at Citrus and Salt, never a miss!!! A must try, especially their cocktails~
I took my mom her for mother’s day and she loved it. Thank you to the whole staff for an amazing experience.
We had a lovely joint Mother’s Day and birthday brunch. The food was amazing!!! Everything we tried was great, especially the street corn, and the avocado tacos. The ambiance and decor is beautiful, I want to celebrate all my occasions here.
Food is alright (chicken tacos came cold), drinks are great, ambiance is fun
Food was good but the drinks were not good. Was disappointed cause the drinks look very good but didn’t taste it :(. The waitress was very nice and took my first drink off the bill.
The service at citrus and salt was really quite exceptional. We first arrived to an empty restaurant at about noon. While waiting for the rest of our party to arrive, the entire place filled up. To the best of my knowledge there was only one waiter on staff. A bartender, food runner and host were present as well but the one waiter managed to handle the entire place at once with poise and a smile. We were all extremely impressed at the level of his service. Will most certainly be back.
Great dinner!! Love it! The food is delicious, atmosphere is incredible and drinks are so good!
Great food, great drinks, a wonderful experience. Will return.
We came here on Cinco de Mayo and expected it to be crowded, which it was. The noise level was unbearable, even though we were not directly seated in the bar area. We tolerated it because we were expecting to have a great meal based on the reviews we read. Unfortunately, the service and food were both disappointing. My margarita was terrible and I sent it back. The replacement was no better so I just drank water. We had to continuously track down our waiter and watched him take care of others while seeming to forget about us. The food was subpar and the menu was limited. The empanadas and guacamole were ok but not great. The octopus was surprisingly good and the best part of our meal. Nothing else on the menu appealed to us so we left.
We love Mexican food and expected so much more but it was a big disappointment.
A great brunch experience all-around. Our waitress was wonderful and helpful. The drinks we had which was a sorbet mimosa were tremendous. The plates were also amazing, I dont think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Highly recommend the biscuits as a small plate to start!
Super fun tapas-style restaurant and great cocktails!! Loved the blueberry mojito and coconut cold brew tequila drink. On the food side, highlights were the beef cheek barbacoa, pan roasted scallops, carnitas baby back ribs, and lobster tostada. Don't miss the guac!
Service was fine. Atmosphere was loud. Food was rough. Don’t go here if you’re a foodie. It’s a place to get a drink with friends, not a place for foodies to sit and eat. Maybe my review is unfair because we are foodies who go to the top places in Boston. We wanted to try something new and food wise, this place was very disappointing.
The lobster tostada, beef cheeks, and Cheetos street corn were awesome. Very disappointed by the tacos. Would go back but wouldn’t order the tacos again.
Food was great, super guacamole and grilled octupus. We would have enjoyed the dining room but ended up in a dark dining room in the back. Host was overwhelmed and unhelpful.
We started with guac and chips and an order of biscuits. The biscuits were very good and came with two different spreads which were unique and delicious. We asked the waitress for her recommendation, chips vs. tortilla chips to go with the guac, and she wasn't helpful, so we went with the traditional tortilla chips. Guac was good but not outstanding. We then ordered a bunch of dishes to share. Grilled chicken tacos were bland and covered in too much cilantro. The glazed chicken wings were very good and a generous portion. The empanadas had way more potatoes then chorizo which made them very bland and disappointing. We also ordered the octopus and scallops, which I heard both were good (I have an allergy). The waitress however, brought out the heavy dishes first, leaving the lighter dishes until the end, which was disappointing. The waitress also never came back to our table. I had planned on ordering another cocktail but as the time when by, I would say a good 30 minutes until the waitress came by again, I said, "it's too late now", thinking she might acknowledge she was busy and neglected our table but we got nothing. Food was OK, service was terrible. I think I'd go back and try brunch the next time.
A lot of fun! Fun vibe, service was great. Had to send one dish back beause it was burnt, but a new one came out quikly and done correctly. Great drinks, food, and vibe - will definitely be back!
Overall the experiment is a 6 maybe a 7. Location is great. Food was ok - I liked that it was lite- small plates but the flavors were a bit more neutral (flat) than I had anticipated. I wish it had a bit more pop. All the food was good - just needed a bit more kick. You could leave not knowing you had Mexican food. The place is loud. And overwhelmingly young - 20 something millennial crowd - feel very collegey/grad school. The crowd and the ambiance lack interest and there is little diversity in the place outside of the staff (at least when I went on a Wednesday night). Don’t have to go back. Service is good - fast and the staff are excellent.
The drinks are great and fun with many choices. The Mexican-tapas style food is unique and delicious.
Very slowly service
The food was fantastic. The service was awesome. We sat right away at the time of our reservation. We will be back. Especially for that corn and lobster.
Warm with lots of atmosphere. Food is vert good. Very please with our experience.
Great location and atmosphere! I love the creativity in their cuisine. I would have to add that it is very loud in the restaurant, though.
Horrible service, staff was not friendly and they do not care about people with allergies. I informed them about having a gluten and dairy allergy the waiter rushed me through and I got extremely sick. I believe the chicken wasn't fully cooked either. I would not recommend!
Here is the thing. There are 2 separate rooms for this restaurant which we did not know about. I reserved for a party of 8 and when we walked into the main restaurant the ambiance was great! However, to be lead all the way to the back room, very dark and dull was truly disappointing. Especially it being for brunch, people are not looking for an intimate room like that and it is a complete waste of space. Food was great, well seasoned. Just wish my chicken from the waffle taco was cooked a little more since I found uncooked pink pieces. The chef told our waiter the chicken was fully cooked but 3 other people from my party ordered the same thing and their chicken didn’t consist of uncooked chicken. Drinks were good... great concept but could be better for the price. Overall, I wouldn’t come back knowing I’ve been to restaurants that have the exact same concept that’s much cheaper and have better drinks.
We’ve been to Citrus & Salt several times for dinner and, like all of Jadon Santos’s restaurants, it never disappoints. We always share an order of the warm agave glazed blue cornmeal biscuits with two types of flavored butter. This time my husband ordered the chorizo and potato empanadas, which were lightly crisp on the outside and soft and tender within and served with two savory dipping sauces. Our friend had raw Wellfleet oysters and some beautifully seared pan-roasted scallops. I chose the carnitas-style baby back ribs with corn, which were incredibly flavorful and tender. We ended our meal with coffee and the fabulous churro bites, which arrived hot from the fryer (and not at all greasy), rolled in sugar and served with vanilla dulce de leche and melted Mezcal chocolate for dipping/spreading - heavenly! Our server was delightful. We’re already looking forward to our next meal there.
Brunch was amazing! The food and drinks were really really good!
There are mice running around the restaurant. Our group told the waiter and the staff did not seem to care.
Overpriced. terrible service. food was medium. not worth going to. loads of better places in boston
We got seated in the back room which was a little disappointing. We were a party of 2 seated next to 2 large parties (the only other ones in our room) which were celebrating birthdays.
Wasn’t what I thought it would be not very Mexican at all. Food was not seasoned. They served cold corn under Ribs. I’ve never seen Mexican Ribs.
Some terrific dishes—empenadas and short ribs—others good. Excellent service. Bright., fun space. Will definitely go back.
Great food and service. It was a little loud but we’ll definitely go back
Everything was perfect !
