Citrus & Salt Ratings and Reviews
Went with a friend - there was a big party (were talking like 10 people around a 4 person high table) right next to our table and the guests kept bumping into us. The waiter was so focused on serving them it took us flagging down the waiter after we sat down and waited for good 5 minutes to even get water. The restaurant wasn’t packed at all at 630 so that was just meh. Food is super salty and our scallops were raw in the middle. One lady that was clearing tables and such around the restaurant kept bumping into my friend (she counted 5 times) after our dishes have been cleared as if to rush us out. Not like there was anyone waiting for tables but we felt rushed and unattended to. It was good to check out but probably will never return again. Cuchi cuchi in central has much better food and service for the same price. ITS ALSO SUPER LOUD AND nearly impossible to have a conversation without literally yelling at each other while sitting across a table.
Overall, food was good, but for all the hype, I was expecting more. The portion sizes were pretty small, especially for the prices. Drinks were good . Everything else, not so much. To start, the menus were disgusting with food and drink stains on them. Kind of surprising for only being open for a few weeks. Our waitress was pretty bad - got our initial drink order wrong, took forever to come back. As other party members trickled in, she got their drinks but left too quick for us to order food. I use to frequent BBH but I won't be back, not worth it.
The hosts were wonderful! We arrived right on time for our 7:30 reservation but unfortunately were not sat until 7:55 due to tables camping out. The hosts offered us a free round of drinks and were very communicative and friendly. When we sat down we waited another 5-10 mins for our waitress to seat us. She was friendly but not attentive. We sat with empty plates for 15 mins. Would have stayed for dessert but at this point wanted to go home because everything took much longer than an anticipated evening for two. Might go back, but not running back or anything.
Would not recommend this place for large parties or if you are in a hurry. We were seated 1 hour after the time we had made the reservation for and it took the waiter 30 minutes to bring us one round of drinks.
Food was great and would go back but with a much smaller group.
The food was all tapas style and kinda over priced for the potion size. I ordered a frozen margarita and the machine was broken...5 days into the restaurant being open. They did give me a free drink though. I can’t say I was impressed, I probably won’t go again.
Overall citrus and salt was just ok, the food is nothing to get excited for. Being a fan of buttermilk and bourbon, I thought I was in for a treat since chef Santos developed the menu. But, it ended up being mediocre Mexican food. I’m definitely not in a rush to go back.
Loved it. Been super excited for this place to open and was not disappointed. The ambiance is amazing. I didn't feel like I was in Boston on a chilly November night - felt like Mexico or LA. Great bar, awesome tables, beautiful color pallette and decor. They paid attention to the consistent theme and it shows. Food was awesome - flavorful, lots of options - approachable yet cutting edge and the corn was lights out delish. Dole whip was a massive added bonus. Looking forward to going back for drinks + dinner again!
Our Visit to Citrus and Salt was disappointing. The “mains” are appetizers, and certainly not main courses. I guess if the idea is to order a number of “mains” for your party, then that should be clearly communicated. I would not go back for dinner. I don’t want to make a sweeping judgment on the food, as we only ordered coconut shrimp (good, but not much for $15) and chilaquile nachos (bit so good).
