Had a great time at happy hour - just cocktails and a couple of appetizers. Great variety of drinks - my choice of classic margarita was perfect. Excellent guacamole and home made chips. Good, fun atmosphere but not over-the-top loud. Will definitely come back - this time for dinner!
Love this place. Food was amazing. Drinks were great. Decor and ambiance was super cool. Will definitely be back when I’m back in the Bean!
Food was ok but service was awful. They ignored us all the time and despite I wanted to order churros for dessert I didn’t cause it was going to take so long
Food is very good especially the grilled corn. The plates are small so get a little of everything
We ate outside as the weather was nice. If I had to judge the noise level inside I would have put extremely loud. The restaurant is very nice and enjoyable when less crowded. Food is quite good. Service outside was a bit slow and our waiter forgot sometimes to check on us. My husband ordered a beer that never came. Prices r on the high sides for tapas but those r Boston prices.
Great Mexican tapas with tasty comfort food options (Street Corn topped with Spicy Cheeto, yum!) and lots of seafood options! Great tequila-inspired cocktails as well. Will definitely go again.
Love this place!! So great showing someone new a beautiful Mexican tapas spot, Katrina wanted to go back from brunch will make it count!
Great find in Bay Village -- scrumptious food and drinks with authentic Baja beach flavors, no compromises or flabby tortilla chips, in an absolutely lovely room with a nice edge. Celebrated my birthday with a crew of 40+ moms and we all loved the flattering pink & twinkly lights...and the churro bites. Will be back for sure.
Great place. Awesome food and super cute! Food was delicious...
Super cute space, but the service was terribly lacking and the food was just ok
The crowd is very young. But the food is good
Good was a little much for small portions but it was delicious and great place otherwise would definitely go again
Amazing food. Everything was fresh (guacamole). The kettle chips were crunchy and amazing. The fish tacos were loaded, the corn Cheetos was beyond good due to the smoked mayo.
I’m Mexican and was expecting better food.. it was very disappointing...
Our server was from Jalisco and he was incredible!
The ambiance very good, I would go back only to have a Tequila at the bar..
Our server, Rafaela, was amazing. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable experience and would recommend anyone planning to visit this restaurant to request her section!
The food is amazing, great menu. Waitstaff slow and inattentive, didn’t refill my water and had to break my arm waving to get a check. Extremely noisy and almost impossible to hold a conversation, noise resonates throughout small area. Try the dole whip and the street corn.
Love the soft serve mimosa drinks and the vibe in the restaurant but service is extremely slow. We went at a time that wasn’t even busy and it took us forever to put in our drink order. Food is okay but nothing special
Great food, drinks and service !
We liked the food quite a bit! Service was great too. It’s noisy inside and can be construed as either fun/lively or making it hard to talk to friends. I wld return for sure!
Really enjoyed the colorful vibe and great food and drinks. They do this weird thing where they bring you chips and guac without asking you, then the refill the chips without asking you and then they charge you for it... rude.
Fantastic cocktails! Food was also quite good. Guac and jalapeno chips were a great combo. Oysters were average and not worth the money. The street corn was a fun take with the flamin hot cheeto crumbs. Ribs were tasty but likely wouldn't order again. Empanadas were outstanding. Finished off with churro bites for dessert - unbelievably good.
Celebrated my sisters birthday here. Food was incredible, drinks were awesome and we had such a lovely time!
Service was amazing, food was amazing and atmosphere was so cute!
Yes I can do
I was excited to come here since the menu looked amazing and the reviews were so great, but I was a bit disappointed in my experience. We came on a Tuesday night and the place was absolutely PACKED at 7pm. Upon entering it was SO loud to the point that my head hurt just waiting for a table, you can barely hear yourself think let alone talk to the people you’re eating with! I think our experience would have been much better if we were able to sit outside, since this seemed much quieter - we waited for a table to open up outside for 30 mins, but at that point we were pretty hungry and opted to just sit inside. The food was good, but the plates are definitely all small tapas sized which I didn’t notice them advertised as (i.e. good to get a few plates and split between people). The service was also super slow, and it was hard to ever get ahold of our waitress (and again, this was a Tuesday!) Overall, I think this place was pretty overhyped. It definitely seemed more like a place for good tequila before a night out than a nice place to grab dinner.
The food needed both citrus & salt. The most flavorless Mexican food I’ve ever had. I’ve had better food at a dive bar.
Quite Sunday night, drinks were tasty and stiff.. Food is tapas style, very flavorful and delicious.... Service however was subpar server was probably just ready to go home. However, that’s no excuse for the lack of attention
Food is good as always, and I love their ambience!! Very hip and pretty, nice go to for girls get-together.
**Food and value:
The food and margaritas here were very good. As it is small-plates/tapas style, you get a rather small portion per plate (which our server did tell us beforehand). However, compared to other tapas restaurants in Boston (and other metropolitan areas) that we've attended, we felt that the prices were still a bit steep (I mean, who charges for a refill of tortilla chips when they don't even give you enough to eat your guacamole with??).
The service was certainly sub-par for the prices we paid. Perhaps our server was having an off-day, but we (a party of four) were at the restaurant for almost 2 hours and we barely saw our server. The bussers were very attentive, always clearing away our empty plates; however, our server was rarely anywhere to be found (and the restaurant was hardly crowded during the first hour of our visit).
To end on a positive note, the ambiance was great, with beautiful table settings, lighting, and artwork. I would like to come back to sit at the bar for drinks and an appetizer.
Service by host was unfriendly. Food mediocre. Atmosphere terribly loud.
Our server was very friendly and helpful. The food was well prepared (grilled octopus, ceviche, biscuits) and came out fresh from the kitchen. I would have preferred more food options that included more vegetables. Great spot for meeting friends or for dates.
Great food great price but have to speak up cuz the noise can get loud
Fine. Food was prettier than it was tasty.
Everything was great! However, my date and I asked several times for dairy items to come on the side because he had an allergy, and they did not bring it later on. Our waitress kept dropping off other tables checks to our table, which one time is fine, but multiple times is a little much.
But the food was overall good and the drinks were fun.
The meal only got better as we went on. Upon arrival, we waited at the bar for our table to free up as we were a little early. While waiting for the text, we saw several tables free up but received no text. We checked in with the hostess again and was reassured that we would get a text to sit. Not ninety seconds later we were seated at the seat that had been open and set for 15 minutes while we waited. Not necessarily a make or break detail, but an ironic and mildly frustrating one. Our meal was delicious; between two of us we split the ceviche, chips and guac, and 3 tapas, and we were comfortably full at the end. The Ahi Tuna ceviche was fabulous, as was the lobster tostada, but the dark horse would have to be the chorizo empanadas! Added two margaritas to seal the perfect Baja-Mex night. The only thing that could have been a huge improvement was the sound level of the music- a few notches lower would have been perfect! Was hard to hear over the general chatter and the blaring songs. Otherwise, very good, reasonably priced meal for Back Bay.
We were greeted and seated promptly although the hostess was somewhat disinterested. We then sat for many, many minutes before water was brought to the table. It was then many more minutes before drink orders were taken. The three members of my party who ordered cocktails said they were excellent. We had tortilla chips with guacamole with the drinks. The chips were okay but the guacamole was very, very good. We also ordered the blue corn biscuits with two different types of butter. These were excellent but VERY filling. All of the food is served tapas style, which is so on-trend now (sadly). The deep-fried avocado tacos needed some spice or something, but they were okay. The short ribs were just okay. Same with the chicken wings and the other things we ordered. I think this would be a great place to meet for drinks and chips/guacamole, but I would not go back for dinner. The food at Lolita is much better.
Good food - WAY TOO LOUD. We had a mixed group/multigenerational - and we couldn’t have a conversation. Came at 5:15 pm on a weeknight. I am sure this will never reach the restaurant specific - but good chance none of us will come back because of that. And my daughter, her husband and sibs (Mexican-American) will spread the word to make note of that. The other Santos restaurant in Boston isn’t like this - at least the time we went. I know restaurants think it is cool to be ‘energetic’ as you put in your survey - but energetic just means too noisy and an exhausting place to eat.
I’m officially obsessed with this place. Period.
I would recommend Citrus and Salt - the cocktails were great and I have had positive experiences in the past. However, our service this time was very disappointing. We came for a Bachelorette Party and our server was not friendly or attentive. Perhaps she was just having a bad night, but even so, when she did come over, it made us all very uncomfortable, as we felt that we were inconveniencing her in some way. The bride-to-be was wearing a sash and I had made a note in the reservation about it being for a Bachelorette Party, so it was also disappointing that the server didn't offer the bride-to-be any special treatment or enthusiasm. We were also seated in a back corner and didn't feel like we were able to participate in the rest of the restaurant's atmosphere. Overall, it was disappointing. :(
Restaurant was so pretty inside & food was amazing! Would recommend to anyone looking for a great Mexican dinner in the city!
