Good food. Nicely decorated. Good location. Empty restaurant on a Saturday night.
We arrived after the Wild game and it was moderately busy, and we were greeted promptly and our waitress took our drink order and then our app order, then our dinner order. It was all spaced out nicely for us. It was a nice place and great food. It is attached to the hotel Intercontinental but that doesn’t matter to us, but thought I would mention it as far as location as we weren’t expecting it was in a hotel.
Just okay. Servers were pleasant. Food was acceptable. Filet was a bit overdone and chewy. Wine was a good pairing. Not up to par with independent restaurants, but pretty typical hotel fare.
Steak was very chewy. Would not recommend this restaurant.
Busy, Vibrant but not too loud. Great Service on a Busy Valentine's Friday Night.
Food was delivered quickly, good portion size and presentation.
Went for Valentines 3-course. Very affordable for the quality of food. Steak and lobster tail was great! Service was timely, but lacked any description of food, which is always nice with a tasting menu. Nice place - loved the iPad menus where you could click on any menu item for a photo and more explanation.
Was not busy so really quiet. Cheese curds had nice light batter. Salmon cooked well however sauce too salty
Totally foodie experience. There is nothing boring on this menu, which btw is a digital menu! Ask for Laura, she is the most friendly and efficient server ever.
So often hotel restaurants are misunderstood, not considered part of a neighborhood. Citizen is a restaurant with a serious chef whose cuisine takes into account diverse constituencies. I am looking forward to my next visit.
We wanted brunch but the breakfast menu ended at 11am. The food was mediocre. Our waitress was great. The ambiance is uninspired; rather boring and uncomfortable. Won’t be dining here again.
Food was mediocre. Service wasn’t very good and brought out food at incorrect times and cold.
Cheese curds and Mushroom Farro are excellent choices.
The staff were very kind and accommodating. The salmon entree was so salty we could hardly eat it. The other food was fine, according to our friends, who had a burger and fish tacos.
The food was good, not great- beet and burrata salad, Swedish meatballs, petite filet and salmon. Lemon drop martinis were not good. Entrees took forever to come out and we were pressed for time because we were going to a concert right after. We should’ve had plenty of time to eat. While waiting for our entrees, a very noisy group with a small unruly child was sat right next to us. We were already annoyed with the long wait- this didn’t help. Disappointing start to our evening, to say the least.
We ate dinner before a concert. Server was great. Food was good. The prices were ridiculous for what we ordered. $200 meal for our family of 4 where we ordered salads, vegan ribs and chicken wings for our main course. Cool atmosphere.
We had dinner at Citizen Christmas night. We had very different things; I ordered the Christmas dinner w/roast turkey, while my wife had the salmon sandwich. Everything was excellent! Soup, salads, bread, vegetables, turkey & salmon, dessert (caramel apple tart)...all excellent. Color us impressed!
Thank you for the kind words! We are glad that you enjoyed everything, and are honored to have been a part of your holiday celebration. We look forward to having you with us again, soon!
Friendly atmosphere. Accommodating for menu choice on Christmas day.
Thank you for your kind words! We are glad that we could be a part of your holiday celebration! Cheers!
A bit of something for everyone, the menu is vegetarian friendly while still offering choices for the die hard meat eaters. Our food was prepared well and the presentations were good. Because this is a hotel restaurant, it is a great place for a late night bite to eat.
Thank you for your kind words! We can't wait to serve you again!
Laura was our server, as we always ask for her; she is just that fabulous. The food is great and people are finally finding this place. It may be a restaurant in a hotel, but you would never know it. It is just that good.
Highly Recommend!
Waiter was AWESOME!
Food was the Best I had had in a Very long time.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! We LOVE that you enjoyed your experience, we look forward to having you with us again, very soon!
Our friends were visiting from Rhode Island and we were looking for a location downtown for brunch. The menu at Citizen looked great and we knew the ambience would be just their style. We loved everything, especially our server. She was so friendly and accommodating and really made the experience great. Thanks so much for a lovely morning!
Very good food and the service was excellent. I would certainly go again. A little bit of a hotel atmosphere but still very nice. Quiet and relaxing.
Disappointed to see the lunch combos/specials were removed from the menu. Menu items are limited and overpriced for lunch. Service is OKAY, but server is not very attentive even with an almost empty dining room.
Thank you for your feedback! Our culinary team is working on some exciting new lunch features to kick off 2020, we can't wait for you to try them!
We went there for a Thanksgiving 4 course meal. The food was very flavorful, and all 6 people were really happy with the meal! We would recommend it to others! Their was nothing disappointing, but the ambiance could've been a little better. The service was great, the food was delicious! The portion sizes were perfect for a Thanksgiving meal. The portion distribution between the entree and the side portions could have been better (ex. huge prime rib, small side of mashed potatoes or regular size salmon with small portion of beets as a side). Not too busy, so we were very catered to and felt very comfortable. Overall, great experience and food and would recommend it!
It was okay, but don’t think I would return. The food was fine, but nothing special or memorable. The restaurant was super quiet even for a Saturday night. I think the pumpkin bread pudding was my favorite part of my meal.
The steak frites dinner was so-so.... super greasy French fries that I couldn’t eat because they were swimming in a pool of oil....gross. Brussel spouts were dry and ice cold. Best thing was the drunk U of M football fan yelling at the TV the whole time during dinner. Not worth the price of food. Will not be returning.
kinda average honestly, was expecting a bit more. However, drinks were tasty and I really appreciated the vast vegetarian/vegan options :-)
Fish Tacos were amazing!
Service extremely slow and food was Luke warm.
Would not recommend.
Waited for a while to be noticed and seated. Took a long time to place food and drink order. Not sure I would eat there again.
It was fine but better on previous trips. Portions are small for the larger price. Dessert menu used to be amazing not so much now.
Special birthday. Lonely daily special lunch.
Outstanding meal; very well prepared and presented; great service; will come again
Great food. Surprisingly well done.
Service was great, but food was average at best. I expected more for the premium prices. I had the lamb shank dinner and it was heavily sauced, overcooked (tough and dry) when it should have been falling off the bone and lightly sauced. We went on a Sunday evening and there was nobody in the restaurant, so can't chalk it up to being busy. Probably the chef's day off, but no excuse. Apps and desserts were all good, and once again the service was excellent. I might try again on a weekday evening to give them another chance, but hesitant due to the expense.
Was great, we got a complementary cheese cake for our anniversary..
Everything was perfect! We had mimosas with our breakfast and they were seriously the best I’ve had! Awesome breakfast experience
We arrived for our reservation at 6 only to be seated at the worst table in the restaurant - right by the entry, server station and kitchen. The restaurant was very busy due to the Queen concert. We had a not very friendly waitress Karen. Didn’t care for the electronic menus because they’re heavy but, did like that you could get a description of the menu item but, thought that was how the server created a rapport. Ordered drinks but, they were out of the French rose we ordered so then my friend had a gin and tonic, I ordered a vodka soda. The drinks came mixed up which normally isn’t a big deal other than I’m allergic to gin. The food came and was great thank goodness. Had the dry rub wings for an opener - great spice, chicken was juicy, very good. Then had the walleye tacos- also excellent. But the waitress never checked on us until we were entirely finished. Then she was friendly - the restaurant was now empty. Unfortunately, even though the kitchen did their job (great food) because the hostess and waitress didn’t we won’t need to go back.
Smallish menu but good food and drink. Good service. Close to Xcel Energy Center, so a good choice for a pre-show or pregame meal.
Great service, great ambiance! Food was delicious but fairly overpriced for small portions.
