   We had not been back to Citizen Kane’s for many years, and I don’t really know why as we have always had a good experience there. I am glad we finally made it back last night as we were delighted pin every aspect of our dinner there. We have always loved the charm of this old house converted into a restaurant. We started with the BBQ shrimp appetizer which was delightfully good. Our party of 4 then enjoyed the filet mignon x 2, the Salmon, and I had the perfectly rare plus prepared Ribeye. All were just simply put — excellent! Our server ,Richard M, is outstanding — funny, knowledgeable of the menu, and gave us just the right amount of attention. Our experience last night will not be forgotten and we will be back SOON! Highly Recommend!!

   The noise was unbearable. Our server had to scream & we needed to yell to talk at our own table. Service a bit slow but worth the wait as the steak was excellent. Disappointed in the creamed spinach. Over seasoned with a very odd & unappealing taste. Server Rob was efficient, accommodating & took really good care of us. Pleasant & personable young man.

   Went with a couple. Every thing was very good , a little pricey but it is a steakhouse and we know the price of beef. And the steaks were amazing! We will return . Probably a more special occasion restaurant. You wish you could go more often. Highly recommend. And Jack our server was great. We didn't feel rushed at all!

   Restaurant is tired-appearing and tired-smelling. Food okay, but table cloths old and weathered, salad wilted. Staff was very nice. Steak was good. But will not return.

    My wife and I went here for the first time and had an amazing experience! The food, service, and ambiance were 5 star. It is a expensive but well worth it. We will differently be returning again soon.

    It was really hard for me to go to a steakhouse in order a pork chop, but I did. It did not disappoint. Although I was salivating, looking at the delicious strip steaks on the next table. Just another excuse to return soon!

    First time visiting and surprised that there was a 2nd level and more surprising that we were escorted upstairs even though there were many unoccupied tables on main floor? Then that the woman rest room was up more stairs to an attic area? Not a place for old people like us!

    They really need to update the chairs and decor. Uncomfortable chairs to sit in for even just an hour to dine. Steaks were delicious and the shrimp appetizer is amazing! Service was good but could have been better. This place is not that big! Not one mention of why we were there which I put in reservation. Oh well.

    We sat downstairs in a smaller area the food was amazing! However, table behind us was a group of men and they were very loud for a small space. You can hear their full conversation and my ear actually hurt from their volume. Next time I will request to sit upstairs where the space was bigger.

    First time here- Server Jack was attentive, table assistant did a good job refilling water regularly and removing dishes. Filets were excellent and cooked perfectly. Drinks were not overpriced as with some other fine dining restaurants that tend to gouge you. We will return.

    Outstanding always. A favorite of ours for 20 years. Good for a group or a couple. Prices 50-$75 /plate includes entree, side and salad. Excellent service consistently. Owner is a gem. They take reservations. Nice ambiance. Flexible dress code.

    Excellent food and wonderful service. We were two couples— both celebrating our 48th wedding anniversaries— and we had a great table upstairs. Our steaks were prepared perfectly — and the mushrooms were delicious. Highly recommend Citizen Kane’s for a great steak dinner!

    The steaks were my absolute favorite and I have ad plenty of good steaks around Stl. My girlfriend got the filet mignon and I got the New York strip. both of them were cooked fabulously and each entree came with a side and the choice of a soup or salad which I thought was a nice tough because many steak houses everything is à la cart. 100% would recommend this place to anybody and will be back for sure.

    Food was great but experience was poor. It took 45 minutes to get our soups - when we asked the waiter, he told us he’d go grab them now…which makes us believe that they forgot the soup. A couple that was seated about 15-20 minutes after us received their appetizers and meals way before we did. Waiters and staff made us feel like we didn’t matter much. Honestly wish I could ask for my money back. I would recommend Kreis’ steakhouse over this any day of the week.

    Citizen Kanes is a highly recommended Steak house restaurant in Kirkwood. My partner and I were working valentines day evening so we booked a table for 2 on Feb 15th. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and ambience however the dining tables and set up was a little dated and not really setup up for a romantic evening, with tables being so close together. We ordered the special and the Filet. Both meals were really good, although the medium rare was more on the medium side. The service was very slow and inconsistent with other guests being served before us even though they were seated after us. The main entree arrived over an hour after our reservation time so make sure you have plenty of time.

    Citizen Kane is a great restaurant with wonderful ambience and great food and service. The menu is not huge which is wonderful, the Steak House entrees are the first you see on the menu. My husband had the New York Strip steak which was cooked to perfection, medium rare. Kevin was our server and he was great!
