What Insiders Are Saying
A Beverly Hills bar you actually want to hang out in.
The service here is incredible. You are greeted with a smile, no attitudes, all very down to earth good people. This is foodie heaven, I sampled a bunch of small plates. It was hard to pick a favorite! Can't wait to go back. Awesome happy hour.
Wonderful service and great atmosphere. We did DineLA and everyone liked their meals and the value but look forward to coming back for personal choice.
Great presentation and delicious food and drinks. Outdoor ambiance is nice too
We really enjoyed our dinner, the service was good and the food was very nice. One note is the the first glass of wine is super small and the second is larger which I can only assume is a way of getting you to buy two glasses! (This happened twice so not just a one off)
Overall great and would return for sure
Great food and we were treated very kind. Our server was fabulous. We will definitely be back.
Always good food great service & a great ambience at this place called Citizen ! I am definitely a Citizen of Citizen !
This restaurant has a limited food menu but they are all fantastic.
Patio is pretty and appealing. Made a res with a note to be seated outside. Got seated in the empty indoor space and my date didn’t know to ask for outside, so it was basically like being a reality show—date in an EMPTY restaurant.
I was pretty disappointed in this dining experience. First, I had planned to meet my friend at 11:45am so we would have more time. I had even called and mentioned this and was NOT informed that the restaurant doesn't even open until noon time, which is really odd in beverly hills (or anywhere for that matter) so we were standing outside and nearly went somewhere else to eat. After we ordered, we were told that their biscuits would be another 15 minutes (they should have given these to us for this mess up on the kitchens part) and they certainly worth a $9 price point....that was absurd! the tuna in my salad was overcooked and honestly, did not taste good, like it was a lower grade tuna, so that was off-putting. and finally, when the bill came, and I put my credit card down more than 10 minutes came by and I finally had to wave someone down to take the payment. Also, I had received coffee and was never offered a 2nd cup, which I thought was also pretty poor.
We were there at an off-hour, so the place was quite loosely populated. Nevertheless, the hostess seated us at a booth right next to another party. Thankfully, they were not overly loud, but there was plenty of space to seat us another booth away from them.
The food was delicious, the plates beautifully composed, and the service excellent!
Good, farm to table food, but service could be a little bit better.
I love this restaurant! The service couldn't be sweeter or more unobtrusively attentive. The food is solid, though I would like a few more fresh options - but everything I've ever eaten here has been terrific. The drinks are good. The wine list is small but reasonable and no stinkers. There are 3 distinct areas: bar, outdoor patio, and dining room. All are busy but not overwhelming, with a good buzz but not so loud that you have to shout. One of my favorite spots in BH!
We sat on the patio because the interior was so incredibly noisy. There were no more than 5 groups of patrons indoors, but the music was just blasting. Very unpleasant.
I have been to Citizen three times and each time has been a unique and enjoyable experience. Their craft cocktails, appetizers and staff are all amazing.
Great Dining, great service by Michael. Thank you.
Order was all wrong, explaining I had dairy allergy brought back food after sending back for it being all wrong and having dairy all over it, where you could tell kitchen did not recook but only took off cheese from burger which still had cheese through out it and dressing on salad despite asking for none, due to allergy.....
Awesome atmosphere, delicious food, fantastic location. I would highly recommend!
Came for lunch and it was fantastic. The atmosphere is great, and we had an excellent outdoor seat on the patio. The food was delicious and overall I would certainly come back again!
Get the brussel sprouts-- and you won't regret it! (We got them for an appetizer and as dessert!) Haven't stopped talking about this restaurant since our visit a few days ago! So glad we happened to pick it. Will definitely be returning!
Service was excellent. Food was creative and tasty. Portions were a bit light, but great taste. Wine list was probably weak point. Some niche high quality choices, but limited choices and anything under $100 was not worth purchasing.
Had the bartender test out a new cocktail he created on me. So delicious! Great service and ambiance. I will definitely be back.
I was rather disappointed by the restaurant. We were seated ordered our drinks and the waitress went over the menu highlighting several of the favorite dishes including the Beef Short Ribs. Two members of our party ordered the Short Ribs based on her recommendation only to find out they ran out. How does a Beverly Hills restaurant at 8 PM run out of an entree. The entire mood of the dinner changed. The waitress suggested people get the New York Strip steak instead because it was beef. Really? How can you compare short ribs to steak? The 2 guests did order the steak and it was boring and certainly not worth the extra money we paid for the steaks. The waitress did give us 1 free sundae for dessert because she felt bad.
2 other disappointing situations occurred: we had selected this restaurant to celebrate my husband receiving his doctorate. When the restaurant called to confirm our reservation they noted my comment of the special occasion. However at the restaurant they did nothing to recognize the special occasion. Finally as we are wrapping up our dinner a man comes over to me and says the restaurant is closing, here is the key to your car (which we had valet parked) and please pay me for parking. Really can you be any more rude? We were done, paid our bill and left.
I expect better from a high end Beverly Hills restaurant.
We live in OC and stumbled upon this place. Had a fantastic experience with amazing food and attentive friendly service.
I've been to citizen a number of times.. I've always LOVED the food. My friend and I ordered 5 dishes... and were shocked that we truly thought each and all were almost uneatable.. not sure what's going on.
Menu Ltd., food not great. Presentation not great. Ordered for the three of us and only two of us got our mail.
Great menu with delicious choices. Ever dis was excellent
Beautiful spot for brunch! Food was good , sangria was tasty , get the banana bread toast !
I have eaten here several times & it may have been an off night but the food was not as good & service was fine but nothing special. It was disappointing & would not rush back!
Dishes prepared and served with great care. Nice setting on the "triangle" in Beverly Hills.
All choices exceot for one ("Pounded" chicken expected to arrtive crisp and, well, you know, pounded, was neither) were "happy/clean plate" delicious.
We will return!
If you are looking for great food and cocktails and are not in a rush, hit it up.
Got there for happy hour on saturday from 5-7pm. I had the mai tai (on happy hour) and she got the strawberry fields (no happy hour). Both were great. We started off with the ceviche and the cheddar biscuits. The biscuits came with some delicious butter and smoked honey. I was hesitant about the honey but it was just the right amount of smokiness. The ceviche was good too, it comes with chips and they even gave us more as we ran out. The beef wellington was the star. I would highly recommend it if you are okay with dropping $53 on it, it was worth every penny as we split it. Our server was very attentive and nice. The patio had very warm heaters and the music and ambiance was perfect for us. I would definitely come back if on the neighborhood.
Great Service, Great Food!
This restaurant is a true revelation, with every surprise a good one. Over the top biscuits, extraordinary salad, delicious cocktail, and halibut that was sublime in its freshness and luscious sauce. Every bit as good as the acclaimed establishment next door.
Food was mediocre and service was terrible. There were few other diners, but it took forever to get the attention of a server, which was frustrating since twice we didn’t have necessary cutlery (eg a knife, necessary to cut the chicken that had just been served). Also they forgot to put in a dish and when we asked for it, the server pretended as if it had just required all that time to prepare it rather than admit the error.
I would not go back.
Got seated ordered drinks took about 15 minutes to arrive. Appetizers very bland. Waiter switched and went missing for another 10 minutes. Waste of a $100 reward
Great vibe in a lively open restaurant
Priced very reasonable for being in Beverly Hills
Interesting menu with something for everyone
Interesting unusual menu
Loved the vibe, food and service were both excellent.
The food was excellent. The halibut ceviche was delicious and the osso buco was outstanding. The broth with the osso buco was amazing. The service was first rate. Definitely worth a return visit!
Very nice meal. Very relaxed and good service and food. Perfect place to take our 25 year old while visiting him in LA. Not crowded late on a Friday night
