Located in the heart of Beverly Hills, Citizen is a social dining experience featuring a New American menu created by Chef Seth Greenburg, highlighting the global flavors of LA. Our bar program draws inspiration from iconic 1960s Americana and features transportive tiki cocktails and irreverent straightforward drinks. The interior of the restaurant hints at the rebellious style and glamour of 1960s Beverly Hills. As the former location of celebrity tailor Jack Taylor, the restaurant echoes a bespoke sense of quality that feels suited to every guest. Adding to the atmosphere is a large open-air lounge and fire pit that plays host to the evening’s cocktail party, which starts early and goes all night long.
They say if you spend enough time in a particular restaurant or bar, you become a citizen there. We look forward to welcoming you.

Citizen Ratings and Reviews
Had a wonderful time here on our special Date night ! The ambiance service & the food were outstanding ! Can’t get over how juicy the chicken was & the biscuits were to die for ! Will definitely be coming back for more good times & extraordinarily scrumptious food !
Citizen’s New Years Eve event sounded like an amazing time, and we loved the idea and theme (Casino Royale / James Bond). We were seated later than we expected for a party of 3, even though we had 10:15 pm late seating reservations. The first thing we noticed was that despite the well-publicized these, few people took the time to dress for the event and we waited at a bar table next to a man wearing torn jeans and a T-shirt.
Once we were seated, the poor understaffed wait team was in over their head. 20 minutes to get drink order in, and a full 45 minutes for the appetizers to arrive. We could not blame the waiter as he was hustling like a madman to keep up, and the food coming from this kitchen (when it did finally arrive) was exceptionally good. The cheese board was well curated and the crispy brussel sprouts were a dream, the main course of beef Wellington was heavenly. But it took FOREVER to get our dishes. In the end, our waiter didn’t charge us for the truffle fries that came a full hour after the main course and we took them home.
I would give Citizen another chance, based on the quality of food alone. But the management did not plan the NYE event wisely and the poor wait staff was overextended.
We thoroughly enjoyed our first dinner at Citizen. Everything from the Ceasar Salad to the cheddar biscuits to the osso bucco everything was outstanding. The decor, I didn't understand, but then again, I'm not a fan of Janathan Adler or the entire 70's "aesthetic." I'll be back!
Nice space, friendly staff but quality of food and service not impressive.
Steak was served medium-rare to medium, not medium-well as ordered.
No steak knives were provided until requested.
Food was not apportioned for us into separate plates though we stated that we'd be sharing.
Service staff was responsive to requests but not proactively attentive. We were not offered refills nor an opportunity to order additional drinks.
I love Citizen's relaxed atmosphere, and quality food. I originally discovered them on BringFido, as I was looking for dog friendly upscale dining options in Beverly Hills. They are so very welcoming, and it'a a great place to linger over lunch with friends, and your well behaved canine.
The biscuits are heavenly, and the beet salad is one of the best I've had - baby gold & red beets - yum!
Better for Happy Hour or just cocktails and apps than dinner. Great vibrant atmosphere and service is good. Good vibe. Dinner entrees overpriced and nothing outstanding. Do not order bone marrow. Was the smallest amount of actual marrow in the bone (in both of our 2 orders) I have ever experienced. Not in any way worth any price for that dish. I still give Citizen 3 stars for the atmosphere and drinks. Would go back for cocktails, never again for dinner.
Chef Seth Greenburg (The Huntley, Santa Monica) is back in town and this is where he's cooking. We had fantastic mac-n-cheese (straight up good ingredients and yummy), brussels sprouts (crispy leaves gently seasoned to perfection), tuna crudo (under avocado--DELISH), open faced grilled cheese (SOOO good)...no doubt, food is a winner. Our server was awesome too. atmosphere is fun. we dined on the outdoor patio where they had big couch areas around gas firepits. We will definitely back.
This is my new favorite lunch spot! I’m so happy to have found this dog friendly gem, near my office. My Whippet & I were warmly greeted by the hostess, and shown to our lovely shaded table for a quiet lunch with friends.
Those biscuits !!!! I don’t know how they mak that warm cheese dip & bacon jam but it’s too delicious for words - just order & enjoy!
The roasted beet, faro & goat cheese salad was also Sopt on, and I’ve tried this or similar roastedbeet salads at many other local restaurants only to be disappointed.
I can’t wait to return and try the dinner menu!
What a shame. I had read so many good things about this place. Went to have a catch up dinner with my brother. Had two drinks at the bar T. o be fair the MaiTai was very good. More ice than liquor but flavor was authentic. Tried a few others but found them to big misses. Move over to dinner. Shared the Chicharons. OK flavor but cold and hard. Dipping sauces was good. Ordered the mac and cheese. Never came. was fine. Brother had the chicken. I had the peppercorn steak. When the plate arrived the sauce had seized. The steak itself had pretty good flavor but was super tough and had a sinew strip impossible to cut through. Not good. Hope they improve as the place has a nice ambiance..
My wife and I were on a weekend trip with our teen-aged daughter to tour LA colleges and see the UT/USC football game. Wanted a trendy, casual spot for dinner in Beverly Hills where we were staying.
The ambience and decor were fun, hip, and trendy. We shared the homemade biscuits as an appetizer and they were worthy of a a home-cooked meal from Georgia or South Carolina - a great mix of moist and flaky. The small plates we ordered - the open faced grilled cheese and the tuna and avocado crudo were excellent - my wife and daughter ordered them for their main courses. I ordered the halibut, which was cooked perfectly and we all split the brussel sprouts and mac and cheese as sides. The only miss were the brussel sprouts, which were mostly crispy leaves which laked a bit of substance.
My wife also ordered a tequila sunrise inspired cocktail, which was great - their cocktail menu was interesting without looking like they were trying too hard.
All-in-all, we enjoyed the evening and would definitely recommend Citizen as a great choice for a fun, trendy casual dinner out with friends.
Excellent food and service. We were well take care of. A little pricey, though it is Canon Dr. in BH, and 2 doors down from Spago. Also, we did get our dessert free (it was our 25th wedding anniv, and they remembered) - another tribute to the great service. The Happy Hour menu looks good - many of the same items at reduced prices, along with drink specials. I'd go back, for sure.
They and open table Lerner us make a reservation for Sunday for a night out when my daughter was at UCLA medical center having a transplant and they were I fact not open. We wasted a whole night out of the hospital with a nurse sitter and they were never even open. Shame on. It's parties.
What a disappointment. We knew it was a bad sign when we walked in at 7pm on a Saturday night and it was only 20% filled. When you spend money on a nice restaurant, you expect a certain level of service. For example, when we ordered the cheese plate, the server came out and said "here is your cheese plate".... ok, can you tell me what cheeses are on the cheese plate (it is chef's choice)?! The servers did not know the menu and when we ended our meal, we had dessert (peach crisp, don't order it, it is hard as a rock), we let them know it was not good. The server took it back and never came back with an explanation, didn't see if we wanted something else and didn't come back to say they were going to comp it (they did when we looked at the bill). We just wanted to get out of there so we asked for the bill and left. The food was decent enough but not good enough to make up for the experience.
Very skimpy portions. My friend and I ordered the salad with Ahi tuna. Small salad. Only lettuce and a few halved cherry tomatoes. Tuna was 3 see-thru slices of Ahi. Called manager over. She said it is supposed to be served with 4oz. tuna. The three slices barely weighed one ounce. She gave us each three additional slices, slightly, very slightly thicker, but still was not nearly four ounces. When I left I peeked at other patrons Ahi salads and they appeared to be the same as my initial serving. We were so hungry afterward that we walked up the street to get a Thrifty ice cream cone at Rite Aid. I would not go there again.
This was a very average restaurant...not great, not bad. The food was fine, but nothing outstanding. Had a watermelon salad and the short rib tacos and a VERY mediocre peach type dessert which tasted more like a breakfast item. We were celebrating our friend's birthday. Moderately friendly wait staff, nothing great. I would not return here.
The decor was very nice and pretty - macrame and soft, warm colors.
Service was good. Host/Hostess were very friendly.
The food was ok, not special.
The martini was ok.
The restaurant was more than 3/4 empty on a Saturday night from 7:30 - 9pm. Made us think something wasn't right as location is right in the middle of Canon Drive.
Vanderpump Rules was being filmed in the back of the restaurant -- a little obnoxious although they were quiet. There were bright lights on, etc. A little off putting.
Wonderful service from beginning to end. The menu is so interesting and has many options that are all so good. The halibut tacos were amazeballs! I will be back to try some of the dishes we did not order. Drinks are delicious as well. The value is great here too.
This might have been the worst service I ever experienced. We waited 20 minutes for our table despite our own reservation. Sat at our table for another 20 minutes where no one checked in on us offered us water or a drink. When someone finally did we ordered everything at once as we were very hungry by then. Drinks were brought over and promptly spilled all over us with glass shattering everywhere. We stood around for 5 minutes before being offered a table. Finally seated elsewhere where it took another 15 minutes to get our drinks again (still no water given). Our first bit of food was brought over but we had no silverware. We ask 3 different people to bring us silverware and only after the 3rd person and 7 minutes later did we get it. Still no water at this point despite asking all 3 of those people. After all the castrophe of the spill no manager came over we were pretty much ignored except for the basic check ins. They took some items off our bill but all and all the worst dinning experience I have had in a long time. And food was mediocre.
