It was a lovely restaurant with great food. The wait staff was very attentive and the views were spectacular. I would not have picked another spot for dinner after my wedding.
Great food! Everything on time and tasty. Great view!
Only disappointment was service. Once order was taken, we did not see our waiter until the brought the desert menu. At that point, we ran out of time to order desert. Otherwise, food and ambiance was good.
We've had dinner twice at Cite during the past year. The service is outstanding and the food is delicious. I would highly recommend Cite for any special occasion or for a romantic dinner with one of the most beautiful views of the city! We love the pace of the dinner to see the city in the daylight and experience the beautiful sunset.
Thank you so much for your 5 Star Review!
Cite is a beautiful restaurant, with an amazing staff. Luis made my mother so happy with his presentation/cooking of the Bananas Foster. It was amazing.
Thank you so much for the 5 Star Review!
Well to be fair. They aren’t known for brunch. Food was way below average. The restaurant in the light is dated. Amazing view. There was no service. Hardly saw anyone. But great view.
Please know that if there is ever an issue with our food we will do our absolute best to make it right, you need only ask?? We only work with the best and freshest of ingredients. Concerning our decor, the gold you see is actual gold leaf finishes all through out the restaurant. World-class interior designer Norman De Hann fashioned our restaurant. It is best described as "classic glamour" with high end finishes of rare tiger wood and full slab marble to match our stunning views.
So the view and staff were amazing. We paid $85 a head for mother’s day brunch. The food was not good at all. Lamb and prime rib were cold. “Fresh crab legs” were not a thing. They advertised this but really it was a bowl of chopped up pieces of crab that didn’t taste good. Everything else was mediocre at best. Great staff though.
Thank you for your feedback and positive comments concerning our view and staff. Please know that if there is ever an issue with our food we will do our absolute best to make it right, you need only ask?? We only work with the best and freshest of ingredients. Our Executive Chef Oscar has worked along side some of the most prominent Chefs in the world including Chef Claude Bernard of France . Cité has been in business for almost 50 years. Hopefully our longevity speaks for itself.
Not the first time visit, and definitely not the last. Best service ever!
Thank you for the 5 Star Review! You're greatly appreciated!
Overall our service was well managed, and had good qualities such as, an amazingly outstanding view and well cooked food, no mess ups in our order. We had a window seat which we were very fortunate of. The process was outstanding and I would recommend.
Thank you so much for the 5 Star Review!! You are greatly appreciated.
Single party, inconsistent attention.
Thank you for the 5 stars concerning our Food! Your comments are so noted, please know we take them seriously and hope you will dine with us again.
Food was poor quality/not very fresh. Not as I expected for the high price. Only thing was good was the view but we were seated on a side where it wasn’t very nice. All we saw was ground and water tanks and pipes. We had to walk to the other side and take pictures. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all I don’t understand why we didn’t get seated in a better spot. I will not recommend it.
Please know that if you are not satisfied with your seating you need only to ask and we will do our absolute best to seat you in a more preferable spot. The same with our food, if there is ever an issue we are more than happy to make things right, no problem.
Temperature not ideal.
Thank you for your feedback Ricardo and positive remarks concerning our views, our air conditioning issue has been resolved.
The view was incredible , but the food was terrible . Felt like I was eating a TV dinner.

Beautiful scenery, the food was great, it's kinda pricey, but the food is well worth it
Thank you so much for the 5 star review Andre!
I would recommend this restaurant for the view and the drinks selection alone. However, if you’re going solely for the for the food alone, you will be left a little disappointed, especially for the prices they are charging.

We felt like Movie Stars in this place! The service was outstanding, the views unbeatable... A Chicago Buck-list stop for sure!
Views take the cake! Service and food were amazing! You must try the butter poached Lobster, mmmm ... It's no wonder why they have been in business for so long... WOW! Worth the price!!
Very outdated space... was expecting something more refined.
Gold sequin fabric draped and stapled to pillars
Uninviting space that looked abandon from the first to the second elevator
Service was too prompt & made you feel rushed, while food was presented to the table on old dirty-looking metal rolling carts
It’s clear they need to renovate & upgrade to match their grand potential value given the location
If you want to impress, this place will does the job. A+++++++ We'll be back!
We visited Cite for my boyfriend’s 50th birthday. There isn’t a seat without a view! Beautiful restaurant and elegant ambience.
The view was wonderful! The service was great. The ambiance was romantic. The food was fabulous.
The lamb chops were amazing. The steak was tender.
Beautiful views of the city below, live piano and singer.
We enjoyed it, and the view
Horrible food (not hand-made) and horrible service for a very expensive price!! Only the view is nice but I would absolutely not recommend this restaurant. Or maybe just for a drink (to enjoy the view) if possible. Very very disappointing............. :((
First, Thank you for your positive comments concerning our view, it's appreciated. However, your review is perplexing, for if there is ever an issue with our food, we are more than happy to replace, no problem, you need only to ask?? More than this, every dish is freshly made by hand? Cité has been in business for almost 50 years, our longevity should speak volumes concerning our service and our food. Again, thank you for your feedback & kind regards.
Had a very nice meal. We were celebrating our anniversary and the maitre d' gave us complimentary glasses of champagne. The meal was delicious, perfectly paced and the views from everywhere were drop dead gorgeous. It's a little pricey but worth it for a special occasion or even to go up just to the bar for a drink or dessert.
Thank you so much for the positive review Lora!! We appreciate you greatly!!
I never write reviews, but Cite service and food has declined tremendously over the past two years. The food was bland and lacked salt. The service was ok the waiter was a little older it seemed as if he kept forgetting to bring items. I was not impressed it was actually one of the worse places I been
We value your patronage and thank you for your feedback Andrea. However, your review is perplexing, for we have had the same Executive Chef for many years? More than this, if there is ever an issue with our food we are happy to replace, no problem. Our goal is to always exceed expectations. If you should decide to visit us again, please just let us know if there is an issue and we promise to make it right.
Horribly unorganized Easter brunch. No ac. Food was cold. Literally everything was unorganized.
I eat out on a regular basis. In fact, I am a VIP with OpenTable. I have never had to write a negative review. That has now changed. I had a reservation at Cite for what I hoped would be a festive Easter Brunch. There is not one thing positive I can say. There was NO air conditioning in the restaurant and it was extremely hot. It was an Easter buffet, that was reserved with No Cancellation available. The cost of $85 per person plus a forced 20% service fee (on a buffet). Upon arrival our table was not ready and we were told to wait in the bar. It was a chaotic atmosphere and many people were complaining and asking for refunds due to the lack of air conditioning. When we were finally seated the wait staff was very rude (which is surprising as it's a buffet and they are guaranteed a 20% tip). We rushed through our meal as it was literally hard to eat or enjoy ourselves in the extreme heat. Needless to say it ruined our Easter meal. To add to this, I received an email from OpenTable saying I had "cancelled" my reservation. I only wish that was the case. I believe the restaurant stated that so I wouldn't be able to write an accurate review of my meal. I did call them and they reversed the cancellation. I would strongly recommend you not ever eat at this restaurant. I don't delight in writing a bad review as I think all restaurants sometimes have bad days however this experience was extremely costly and the service was beyond horrible.
We went for Easter brunch and it was so extremely hot in the restaurant that to cold food that was out was warm. Chocolate desserts were soft and the cheesecake was not even cool. On top of that the room was so uncomfortable that it made the experience unenjoyable. We wanted to eat quickly and get out. The hostess said they were transitioning from heat to air!!! Come on!!!! The rest of the building was fine- we went with a friend who lived in the building and the apartment was comfortable. They had fans but none of them were turned on. Our sever was not attentive. He brought drinks but never once refilled our empty soft drink. Since a gratuity was already built in to the cost there was no incentive to provide quality or check back in. At $85 per person I would expect a to have water and soft drinks refilled. I have been here before for dinner and it was lovely. Sad to say not this time!
Went to Cite for Easter brunch. Food was ok, but the atmosphere was awful. It was easily 90 degrees there, and I got sick from the heat. We were seated in the sun, and kept having to move to a "cooler" part of the restaurant. For over $100 a person, we were really disappointed.
I never write reviews, but I'm feeling compelled to write to thank the nice people at Cite for turning what could have been a disastrous situation into a memorable day. My family and I booked a reservation for Easter brunch yesterday. When we arrived, we were informed that the building was experiencing issues with their heating/cooling. The dining room was EXTREMELY hot - probably over 90 degrees - and we were seated at a table in direct sunlight. Unfortunately, the shades near our table were also broken and couldn't be pulled down. It was unbearable, so we asked to be moved to a table out of the sun. After about 30 minutes at the bar, we were moved to a table in the shade with a great view. It was still hot, but it was tolerable. We proceeded to enjoy a really good brunch, several mimosas/glasses of champagne and live music. During our brunch, several other parties complained and left because of the heat. About midway through our meal, the manager arrived, apologized for the temperature issues, gave us her card, and informed us that our ENTIRE brunch would be comped. We would have expected maybe a free drink or one meal for free at the most, but they went way above and beyond. Our bill, which would have come to over $350, was entirely zeroed out. We of course left a nice tip. The people at Cite know what good customer service looks like. We'll be back and recommend this place to everyone we know.
Easter brunch at Cite was a disaster!!!! The temperature had to have been between 90-100 degrees depending on where you were seated. It was so hot we could not even enjoy the buffet. We heard multiple different excuses “it’s an old building” “we are so high up that it’s hard to control the temperature” “ we aren’t allowed to turn the AC on until May”. There were men in there in full suits with their pant legs rolled up past their knees. Worst of all was the manager. She was so rude when I tried to talk to her. She literally told me she couldn’t discuss anything at the time and asked my name and how many people were in my party. Never asked for a phone number but stated “I’ll have someone call you”. Still waiting for that call.... website stated bottomless mimosas and bellinis with the pre paid buffet. Apparently the website was wrong because no drinks were included. My husband and I dine out a lot and I have to say this was the worst experience maybe ever! I felt the worst for the waiters and the kitchen staff sweating while they worked!
Long story short, ask what the temp is before trying to dine here. They should have warned us when we walked in and gave us the opportunity to go somewhere else. Since we pre paid when making the reservation we felt obligated to stay even when we walked in and were hit with the heat.
Thank you for your feedback. You are important to us and we would like to apologize for your negative experience. We look forward to speaking with you and working towards a solution.
It was so hot. All patrons sweating and staff was unapologetic.
Poor service. The table next to me had to grab their own water.
Lobster bisque soup- no lobster
Charcuterie board- only utensils were a larger spoon and a forks
Desserts melting because it was so hot.
Fantastic view. But Easter Brunch way over priced and while food great, ventilation inoperable and became intolerably hot. For the money have the HVAC working at least.
The restaurant doesn't revolve around the city - that was s bummer. But the waiter/servers were very attentive. The food is pricey and it's not the best. The restaurant needs to do a lot of updates, place seem unkept, even table clothes and cloth napkins were old and stained. For upscale Chicago, place seem dated.
I’d been there before and the food was nicer. We had Wild Alaskan Salmon and the taste was very average. We ordered Hazelnut Cake it was old and smelled molded. They changed it when we warned them. The former cake was obviously spoiled. They shouldn’t have served in such a high end place. Overall, my expectations were higher but it was ok except the amazing scenes of Chicago.
Our evening was perfect in every way! You have a totally beautiful and delicious restaurant that we always greatly enjoy! Thank you very much!!
Thank you so much for your 5 Star Review Maty! We appreciate you greatly!
Amazing food and service highly recommend for date night.
Thank you so much for the 5 star review Jose!! We look forward to your return!
Make a reservation for around-30-minutes-before sunset to experience day & night views. It’s wonderful to see the landscape change, and hopefully you’ll catch a gorgeous sunset like we did! (We were also glad we could take pics/selfies with the skyline before it got dark so we could avoid fighting the glare from the windows.) All the staff were extremely welcoming and attentive and our experience at Cite was a GREAT way to end our full day of Chicago sightseeing. Portions were satisfying and we loved the accompaniment of a pianist and singer during our dinner. I would definitely return for a special occasion celebration, or maybe a fun date with my husband for a drink and something from their Petite Bouchee (small bites) menu at their lovely semi-circular bar with the same fabulous views.
We were celebrating our anniversary & the staff were so nice & they ever brought us a complementary desert.
