Food was surprisingly delicious. Better than the signature room. Ambiance is amazing... My spouse took me there for my bday. I had the Alaskan wild king salmon and he had the Amish airline chicken breast. And it was delish!!! Also don’t forget to add a side of lobster Mac n cheese.
We were in town from St. Louis and went specifically for the view. We indicated in the notes that we would like to sit somewhere with a view and they say us at a table with the view of a roof. We had asked to be moved to an open table we saw and they did end up moving us.
This restaurant is just awful. No prices in the menu so you feel weird asking them but then pay 40$ for half a pound crab legs? And they automatically included 20% tip to our check and it was ONLY 2 OF US! Are you kidding me? Their menu said they do that for a party of 6 and more! The food was meh
Nothing special about this place. They just going to rip you off!
This must be one of the nicest, scenic places to eat in Chicago . The service is always fantastic and the food very good to excellent. I would highly recommend it to those on a romantic date, or wanting to experience cite'.
The view was outstanding!! The steak was amazing, the seabass, not so good. Our waiter was excellent. We would definitely go again, for the view alone!!
Only regrets: We were very sorry that there was no piano player playing on the Saturday night that we were there. Also, the bathroom stall was quite messy, with toilet paper everywhere on the floor, for such a pricey restaurant.
A week before I received a call from restaurant asking for $25 to confirm the reservation (?) The first time this happened to me with OpenTable. I guessed that should be refunded after the dinner. Nope. No refund. A couple of days before they sent an email asking for business casual dress code (was a Thanksgiving dinner) When we entered the restaurant we saw people in sport shoes, sneakers and jogging pants. The decoration looks old and cheesy, poor details. Honestly the view is amazing, the only remarkable thing about the restaurant. The food and service was average, a bit expensive for what they offer. Overrated and disappointed.
There are a wide range of reviews for Cite, but I have to say that the experience I had with my fiance on her birthday was fantastic! We were able to get a south/south east view that was really special, especially when the fireworks started! When we were seated we were served on right away. Our server was very attentive , but not to the point of annoyance. From the start the food was great. We had the chilled seafood sampler that was the perfect size for two. I had the Amish Chicken and my fiance had the sea bass. Both were cooked perfect and had great seasoning. For dessert we had the pineapple carnival. Looking back, I think they forgot the 'hot tea bath", but it did not take away from the dessert itself. We also got extremely when they were out of the bottle of Rose we originally ordered and offered us very nice upgrade!
I have been here before and after this experience I will certainly be back again
I took my fiance to Cite for dinner for his birthday and everything was perfect! The view of the city was incredible, the service from our server and even the hostess was great and the ambiance was so romantic. Food was very tasty and the handcrafted drinks were amazing! Thank you Ameer for everything.
We went here for our 1 year wedding anniversary on Saturday 9/30. The view was absolutely incredible and definitely worth checking out. For our first round, we ordered the French onion soup and the fois gras. The soup was well balanced and full of flavor and was not salty like most French onion. The fois gras was amazing and the cherry sauce helped balance the richness of the duck. For the main course we got the 32 oz tomahawk steak for 2. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly and presented nicely. The potato purée was one of the best we have had, perfectly smooth and rich flavor.
Our only complaint is that the service was not what you would expect from a restaurant in this category. Our waiter was not very attentive and we had to ask about the specials, which I had overheard another sever telling his table. There was nothing unique about it.. no extra touch.. and despite mentioning we were celebrating our anniversary they didn’t do anything for us, then had the nerve to adjust our bill because the waiter forgot our coffee... again not the service you would expect from this type of place. Since my wife and I both work in hospitality, this was enough for us to not return again. But for those that just care about the food, I would give it a try.
Took my wife here for our anniversary, the view of the city is spectacular, the service was out of this world. That’s about all. The food was over priced we thought. Steaks came out way over cooked. Was definitely a experience to let sink in and we had a great time. I would not go back in the future.
The view from the top of LakePoint Tower is spectacular. Unfortunately, it appeared that the windows hadn't been washed in quite a while so there were a lot of marks on the windows, hindering the view. The servers were very friendly and attentive. The menu is limited but the main courses were good. The accompanying vegetables lacked flavor.
The food was somewhat mediocre and more like a bistro than an upscale restaurant.
Staff were very helpful and attentive though, but that was probably the only upside other than the view.
Escargots (this was surprisingly really good and worth it),
Lobster with Angel Hair Pomodoro (the Lobster was good, but the presentation was very cafeteria-like, the pasta wasn't particularly delicate for angel hair, and the Pomodoro sauce was basically everywhere. It tasted very mediocre except for the fact that it the lobster was good. Subpar for the price.),
Chocolate Cake (was not spongy or soft enough, it was rather sticky and had a texture more akin to sticky toffee pudding than chocolate cake. Rather mediocre and subpar for the price.),
Wine names were misspelled in the menu, but the wine was above average. Not the best, but definitely not the worst.
From the minute we stepped off the elevator we were unimpressed. The staff was rude to us reminding us of a dress code that I don't remember seeing listed anywhere. Both my husband and I had nice jeans and dress shirts on so I'm not sure what the problem was. The food was sub-par and ambiance was nothing to brag about. Out of all the restaurants in Chicago, they should do a better job of pleasing guests. We have higher food standards than this and will chose somewhere else to dine next time we are in the city.
My birthday was ruined because of a dress code that was not followed, the rude responses I got throughout my dinner, the quality of food that did not meet anyones expectations.
Simply put why have a certain dress code and have people have to present themselves if your restaurant is not going to follow it? It defeats the whole purpose of the dress policies.
Throughout my dinner there were many rude remarks and experiences with the staff. Starting at the beginning of the dinner when I asked if they serve coffee and was met with an appalled waiter who could not believe I asked for coffee. As they were bringing out the main dinner, my appetizer that I was obviously still eating, was pushed aside so the waiter could put the food on the table and continue on with his other errands. The lady bringing the table bread and water was more considerate. The food was ill prepared, One of my sons chicken dinner was beyond dry while the other sons rib eye steak had absolutely no seasoning. Especially at the price point, this restaurant is not recommended.
The restaurant tries to put out an aura of a fancy French restaurant but I have had better service and food at any low class diner.
