You pay for the view not the service or food.
It was not at all busy but the wait staff seemed confused and service was slow. Steaks were okay but greatly overpriced.
Caesar salad was pretty but tasteless. Lobster and crab risotto was bland with little or no seafood.
First time at Cite for our Anniversary. The Staff was excellent and very accommodating. We started with Tuna Tartare, it was excellent with good ginger flavor. Second was the Butternut Squash Lobster Bisque, the soup was poured tableside and was heaven. My wife had the Corvina and I had the Duck, both were excellent, but I have never had duck before to compare. It was very tender and moist. Lastly we finished with the Bananas Foster flambéed tableside as well.
Service was prompt and they did not rush us in the least.
I just wanted to start off with how beautiful the restaurant is and how well we were treated as customers. I was very pleased with the service. However, the food was not as expected. The lobster Mac and cheese was overcooked and mushy and the duck was dry, but had great flavor. The beef ribeye was under seasoned and was kinda tough and yes, i sliced across the grain, still was tough to chew. All in all I most likely will not be joining you again. Thank you for the visual experience.
Excellent service, perfect for a leisurely six course dinner. We tried the Chef's Tasting for a gourmet experience. This venue is noted for its spectacular view of the city skyline and lake front. We found the restaurant too cold. Multiple portable AC units were on full blast making it noisy as well. Much improved when the staff turned off the unit next to us.
Cite was honestly better then the signature room. It was my lovely girlfriend's birthday, and cite put happy birthday on top of the menu which she loved. The food was better then the signature room by far. Very well cooked, and j have honestly never seen asparagus that big!! Wow!! Will definitely come back!! And recommend to all!!
My first time here...view is spectacular, especially for fireworks viewing above Navy Pier.
Food was decent..our table had filet mignon, salmon and Vegetable pasta...all was good..nothing that blew my sock off...furnishings a bit outdated....was very warm up there...but again, the reason to dress up and have a nice dinner is for the view !
Our server, Amir was outstanding as was our dinner. We were celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary, and the ambiance here is incredible. If you want a dining experience you will always remember, this is the place. We are definitely looking forward to revisiting this fabulous restaurant!
We used to go to Cite when Men were required to wear a Jacket. It was a really upscale Restaurant. My Wife and I went to the Restaurant Sat August 5th 2017. The Wait staff was nice so I begrudgingly left a 15% tip lower than my norm because the food couldn't compare to the upscale restaurants in downtown Chicago. My Fillet Mignon tasted old and was lukewarm. My Wife's Lobster tail resembled something from Joe's crab shack. The lobster mac & cheese had spotty pieces of lobster. Nothing like a Capital Grille or Three Forks, very disappointing. The view at Cite is not enough, the food needs to be on par with the Real Restaurants downtown. I can not believe management has allowed Cite to have fallen so far from Grace. It is sad but we have so many grat Restaurants in Chicago, and I will be visiting them.
First the place was supposed to have a dress code but we mostly saw t-shirts and jeans when we were there. The staff was great. Armon made the entire experience worth coming back for. The views are worth going back for alone. Now as for the food. The chicken I ordered was way over cooked. The lobster mac and cheese was the best I ever had. My lady ordered the steak and she enjoyed it. The dessert was ok as well. So in all I would not go for the food but the view
It's hard to name just one thing. What stood out was the view for sure. The servers were very friendly and helpful. The steaks where so delicious. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to take their special someone for a romantic evening. This was my first time there and it was very memorable.
Some items were well above expectations others failed to meet the standards that this type of restaurant should have. The Venison was dry and not palatable. The lobster bisque was salty and little to no flavor of lobster. All in all a very average meal for over $100 per person
We went there for our engagement dinner and we were an hour late from our reservation due too how the proposal went and finding the right moment. When I called and told them the situation, they were happy to accommodate and were very nice.
The food was good, the service was great, we got free champagne as a gift, and the view was awesome! Must get reservations ahead of time!
We got the filet and delmonico and the mash potatoes that it came with were delicious!!
We went for brunch on July 16; when we arrived at noon, we were the first to be seated, and the hostess noted the reservation system was down. We did see one other group arrive a bit later. Despite the low attendance, the service was friendly, but quite poor. We have eaten there twice before, and always been delighted, so this was a disappointment I hope they can reverse.
My husband and I were celebrating our 26th wedding anniversary and this was our 1st time here. I read the mixed reviews but decided to be open anyways. I have to say I was underwhelmed. The food was just ok and for the price we paid for our meal it should've been better. I ordered the lobster and it was very bland and a very small portion for the market price of $68! The mixed salad was nothing special. I could've made it better at home. My husband ordered the duck and again, nothing special. It was a little dry. The best thing about this place is the view and we did have excellent service. No complaints there. Just expected more from my meal.
