Cite Ratings and Reviews
So I just wanted to start off by saying Cite was very good last year when me and my girlfriend went there for Valentine’s Day. We loved it so much that we booked a table for this year. Unfortunately, we did not experience the same service. It was two completely different services and it was upsetting. When we got there we got seated fairly quick, but did not receive our menus nor get greeted for about 25 min, but the table behind us, which was seated after us had already received their menus and met their server. Our first course was bought out to us after our second course was served, which they didn’t even realize until I pointed it out. Our server did not check up on us until the third course was received. When our third course was received it was incorrect. We ordered two soups, but got one salad and one soup which caused us to wait even longer. The soup was ‘tableside’ but when we told them the order was incorrect the soup was bought to us already made. The whole experience was prolonged to almost two and a half hours. It took so long and we got so impatient that we asked to take our main courses to go. This was completely different than our first valentines there. I would love to book with Cite again, but the expectation that was set the first time was not even close to being met. Very unhappy with our visit and hopefully this feedback is taken into consideration.
The best thing about this restaurant is the spectacular view. First we were seated at a table that was on study and rocked and they gave us pushback about changing our table. The waiter had way too many people he was trying to serve at the same time. He spent 20 minutes at the table next to us taking their order even after we told them we were on a time schedule to make it to the theater. Instead of waiting we got up went to the bar had an appetizer and a cocktail and left
Service was terrible, ordered oysters, one was bad... took a long time for dinner to arrive or even another drink.. Ask for one thing special, called before and even talked to waiter... asked for a special dessert.. all I wanted .. They forgot !!!! Please don’t ever do here for a special occasion
Been here a few times now, usually to celebrate a special occasion. Most tables have stunning views. Warning not to sit to close to the bar though... Food is delicious although very expensive and portions are small. They used to open much earlier, now only at 6pm. This takes away the beautiful views transitioning from sunset to evening, which takes away some of the ambience. Not exactly sure why this was done but perhaps for financial reasons. I must caution against the gift card options however. I purchased the gift card which was supposed to give you an additional $25 of buying power per $100 purchased. I purchased $200 worth of gift cards which translated into an additional $50 worth of "bonus cards" for a total of $250. I was told that I could not use the bonus cards with the original gift card. (Only one card per meal). I was surprised as I read the fine print when purchasing and was not informed of this. I would have been okay with this development until I was informed that only $190 of my original $200 gift card purchase could be used because the gift cards didn't cover taxes!?!?!? This led to $10 of the original $200 gift card being useless (taxes were about $22) as I used the electronic version and was told that it couldn't record a $10 balance. I apologize for the long review (I usually don't write long reviews) but wanted to be sure I informed other potential guests of this situation so they won't suffer the same fate... Additionally, the last time I dined here for someone's birthday, they did a cute birthday design tribute with the dessert for my guest. Not so much this time despite me clearly informing them of the birthday occasion at reservation and while receiving our drink order. In addition, the dress code seem not to be enforced as strictly as I remembered in the past as several guests showed up in blue jeans and gym shoes... Overall, I would recommend the restaurant, but honestly, things have changed a little...
We normally love going to Cite. The food and service are usually excellent and you can't beat the views. Unfortunately, they fell short for New Year's Eve which was very disappointing. We got our second course of the tasting menu before we could even eat the first one. The subsequent courses came as soon as the last bite of the previous one was consumed. My husband was brought a repeat of the third course instead of his chosen item for the fourth course. Amir did quickly rectify this error, though. Overall, we felt like we were being rushed through the evening. Amir was one of the bright spots for the evening. He was his usual kind and attentive self in spite of being very busy.
I made a reservation for 6 seats. I was hoping that it would give us a memorable experience for New Year’s Eve, but sadly it didn’t.
It took a while before we were assisted, our orders were taken approximately 30 mins after being seated. The staff were friendly but they were not keen to the details of our order, they came inaccurately.
The manager, kept coming to our table to ask how everything was doing, it was counterproductive. His jokes and approach were annoying and misplaced to my perceived expectations of the place.
The pacing of the course meal was so slow, and the food was very poor, especially the lobster that felt like rubber. We unanimously wanted just to leave and not finish the whole course but we loved the filet mignon- that’s the one thing we liked, plus the picturesque view of the city. The food completely lacked the wow factor, not worth for the price.
In their website we left a note saying that our reservation was for a celebration, but it was not acknowledged, never a single word or even a treat.
Overall, poor service, and inferior culinary experience.
This place is only good for taking pictures.
Reserved for a special birthday months in advance for the view. Was seated next to bar, and actually served from an over worked bar tender. Had a lovely view of the bar back mop bucket while he was mopping floor. The 10 oz "lobster" was a 3 oz at best under cooked and rubbery tail with two claws served over pasta. It was a pasta dish, not remotely lobster. And to finish the evening I had special surprise cupcakes delivered to the restaurant for the birthday, and the bartender said, "And you had the cupcakes, right?" Even though they were clearly through the host designed as a surprise. Horrid experience.
Food was surprisingly delicious. Better than the signature room. Ambiance is amazing... My spouse took me there for my bday. I had the Alaskan wild king salmon and he had the Amish airline chicken breast. And it was delish!!! Also don’t forget to add a side of lobster Mac n cheese.
My boyfriend & I traveled 3 hours from Wisconsin to visit Cité for our engagement dinner date. Upon arrival we were greeted by a sweet lady at coat check and rode the elevator up with the GM who was very welcoming of our first experience at Cité. Once we were seated is when the experience took a left turn. My fiancé and I were seated next to a table of 5 people. At first they kept taking flash pictures over and over again and posing in the middle of the dining room. If that wasn’t annoying enough the group then began to bicker about an issue. They kept getting louder and louder and using elicit profanity to the point where the entire section of the dining room was in silence. The argument became so heated that they were all yelling at each other. I understand this was not the restaurants fault however they did nothing to accommodate customers or try to deter the situation. My date and I sat for 20 mins not even being able to talk to each other or hear one another because the table was so loud and obnoxious. The food was great and Oscar the chef did a wonderful job however we are extremely disappointed that our night to remember was not exactly worth remembering. After paying over $250 for our meal, $37 for parking and several tolls I will not be returning to this establishment. It was a waste of money and an awful experience. The food was good and server was friendly and punctual but this trip was a complete waste of time!
I have come here for years and it used to be one of my favorite places. But it has gone down quite a bit since that time. Last time I was entertaining clients and ordered a bottle of champagne for the table which was served at room temperature really spoiling the experience. An apology was offered but nothing more. This last time I ordered a glass at the bar and again it was served warm. (They truly do not get it) This time they offered a cold glass of another brand at no charge. My dinner which was the special of the evening was the tomahawk steak bone in. (they did separate the bone and plated it for show. BUT it was really fatty and not at all enjoyable. Finally they now add a 20% service charge to every bill (party of 2) without warning and then had the gall to say to me that the server was not guaranteed that whole 20% which is why they leave room for ADDITIONAL gratuity. Sadly this was my last time here.
