Everything was delicious. Appetizers (baked brie, Brussels sprouts, beets) and main courses (Rib Eye, Veal, Scallops & Grits) desserts (cheesecake, carrot cake & banana pudding). To complete the meal, house made limoncello. Perfect evening to celebrate a friend’s birthday.
Five course tasting menu. We enjoyed 4 of the 5. The pork was excellent as was the carrot cake and pumpkin soup. The street corn was bland and just not very exciting. The waiter was nice. The wine was good but didn’t feel it paired well with most of the courses. Still an enjoyable experience and would consider going back
This place is a gem! The owner explained their mission to us, and it's just wonderful. Hyper local, fresh, never frozen, delicious food! The service was excellent. It's definitely pricey, but when you consider the support of local businesses and the investment in the community, it's worth it.
Ciro is a fantastic dining experience. We did the New Years tasting menu. Each course was flavorful and interesting. It was not inexpensive but the chef is accommodating to dietary issues without sacrificing interest or flavor.
Loved it. Food is amazing and staff is wonderful.
It was a beautiful Saturday night and my husband and I were excited for a new and interesting dining experience. We arrived at the restaurant at 6:40, were seated and decided to order the 5 course tasting menu. Before our bottle of wine was delivered, out came the first course. This was disappointing, but the wonderful truffle mushroom soup was delicious. Fast forward to 7:35 and our dining experience was complete. Let me say that the food was wonderful, but I could have spent more time enjoying take out from Shake Shack.
A great dining ex
We picked Ciro because they had a reservation available on a Saturday night, without even looking at the menu. I’m so glad we did! Everything about the evening was amazing. We did the five course tasting menu with accompanying wine pairings, and would do it again in a heartbeat. At the same time, seeing other dishes pass our table, we also know we could order from the menu and be thrilled. It was an expensive dinner, but the commitment to sustainable practices and serving the community along with the spectacular food made it worth every penny.
We did the 5 course with wine pairings. It was phenomenal and worth every penny. The pumpkin risotto was unreal as was the roasted pork.
It was absolutely amazing! We did the tasting menu and was incredible! Highly recommend for any local foodie! Truly the best meal we have had in a really long time.
Great experience; the wait staff is very knowledgeable of where the ingredients are sourced. They encouraged that you eat everything to ensure that you taste all of the flavors. You can order a la carte or a multi-course chef tasting menu. My table ordered a six course meal and its associated wine pairing. If you are a foodie, this restaurant is a wonderful place to try new and interesting food creations with a surprise element. I loved it. The wine complemented each dish perfectly. I think the value of the chef tasting menu is excellent; for $69/pp a six course meal including dessert. I think the wine pairing package is a bit expensive for the couple of swallows of wine poured at $55/pp. It was a great dining experience overall. I’m very pleased that a restaurant of this caliber is in my local area. Many years ago, I would have to go to Philadelphia (35 mi) to be able to have this kind of dining experience. Thankfully, I have this place as an option.
We did the tasting menu. Every course was better than the last. If you are a “foodie” this is a must try.
A gem! Great food, great service!
Great service. Delicious food. Love the connection to the community and the support of local farms. Will definitely go back.
The food was unbelievable with all food sourced fresh locally. We got there after the last seating left (9pm) so it was quiet…can’t comment on the ambience. Service was excellent. The atmosphere was extremely casual but you wouldn’t expect it from the caliber of food on the menu. I was afraid we would be underdressed in our jeans t-shirts and shorts…not the case. Would highly recommend for a casual, but excellent dinner.
One of the best restaurants in Wilmington. Food and service were both excellent.
Now, following this most recent dinner engagement, the conclusions are the same as experienced on an earlier visit on July 9. That is, two extremes, some positives and some negatives.
Our reservation was for 6:30 PM and we were on time. However, we waited more than twenty (20) minutes before being seated as the other party was “just finishing up” at the table where we were to be seated. During the wait we attempted to order drinks, scotch on the rocks, but none was available. We were told that scotch didn’t sell and that bourbon seemed to be preferred by their clientele. It was interesting to note that Grand Mariner and Drambuie (a scotch based liqueur) were on the bar shelf. These must be big sellers. I wrote about this circumstance in the earlier review and remain disturbed because I was able to confirm that the attached liquor store stocked no less that six or more premium label scotch brands. If scotch doesn’t sell where does the store stock go? Where do scotch drinkers go to dine?
After our party was seated and spent several minutes reviewing the menu, a server arrived at the table to inform us that two entrées were sold out and that there were no “specials” or additions to the menu for that evening. As a result, we decided to embark on an adventure with an unscripted six course Chef’s Tasting Menu. We were served the following courses: peach soup (cold) with prosciutto, roasted peppers with buffalo mozzarella cheese, ahi tuna with arugula greens, tomatoes with feta cheese and sunflower seeds, wild boar and pork tenderloin and finally dessert, peach cobbler and chocolate tort (with three spoons to share!). All food served was tasty and enjoyed. However, the course selection, especially serving the roasted pepper/mozzarella dish and the tomato/feta cheese dish, during the same service didn’t make any sense and showed a lack of creativity. The shared dessert, rather than individual desserts for each person, was a puzzle.
Great spot friendly and knowledgeable service love the changing menu as well as tasting menu. Always great to have a drink at bar before or after your meal!
Food is what brought us to the restaurant and we were not disappionted. It was awesome. Staff was well versed and very friendly. Food prep and presentation was spot on.
Really fantastic food. Can't wait to go back & try the chef's tasting menu (even though it's pricey!) The venie is small and intimate, and the service was perfect -- helpful, informative, and not overbearing.
Food was not as good as we expect. It's okay but nothing really stands out. Appetizer is not really well put together, Entree the lamb is not seasoned enough. And we did not get our own dessert course, instead we got 3 dessert to share for 4 person. Overall, not really worth the money.
Great service and Amazing food. Fresh food eloquently and deliciously prepared. Definitely recommend at least the five course or more tasting menu…A MAZ ING! We Will absolutely be back
Enjoyed great food with wine pairings with friendly but not cloying service. I just had to get use used to the small size; less than 10 tables.
We had the 4 course and 6 course meals and they were spectacular! the pork was delicious, but the dessert was the BEST.
Holy moly what an AMAZING experience. I made the reservation based on menu and reviews alone, so I had no idea what the restaurant looked like. When we got there we were surprised to find a tiny hole in the wall sharing space with a liquor store. Don't let that scare you away, you're in for a TREAT. We came here to celebrate my parents' anniversary, so we decided to go with a 6-course tasting menu. Each dish was better than than the previous one. The portions were just right, and we had just enough time in between the dishes. We were walked through each dish and where the ingredients were sourced from, and we even got to chat with the chef. This restaurant was a love project of three very knowledgeable and inventive guys. Give them a try, you won't regret it.
What a delightful dinner! The chef's 5 course with wine pairings was wonderful, tailored to our restrictions, and made personal by our host who is also the owner. We felt so lucky to find Ciro on our drive to the beach from Maryland - we will be back!
This place is so good!!! The chefs tasting menu was really fun and perfect for a date night!! Recommend this place to anyone.
I rarely write reviews, but this restaurant is fantastic. The chef really knows how to marry flavors and utilize seasonal ingredients to create interesting, flavorful, perfectly prepared dishes.
The food was delicious! It was very busy so service was alittle slow but it was worth the wait. Fresh ingredients, beautiful setting. Will definitely return!
Prompted to go to this restaurant having received a gift certificate and recommendation. Did not hesitate because of having enjoyed a previous establishment (Moro) owned by the chef. Overall, the experience was one of two extremes. On the positive side was the food ordered. Our party of three ordered the pan seared scallops and two specials - crab w/pasta and branzino w/roasted tomatoes and pesto. Without question this was the best branzino dish I have ever enjoyed - truly outstanding. The deserts, strawberry shortcake and carrot cake were better than most. The strawberry shortcake, made with cornbread, brought endorsements from two party members. In addition, the carrot cake w/whipped cream was not your run of the mill carrot cake. On the other hand, the dining experience, had its shortcomings and revealed the need for improvement in restaurant operations and in the customer experience. To begin, lets talk about drinks. We ordered two scotch on the rocks and when served we were informed that was the end of the scotch. What??? There is a liquor store connected with this establishment!! When questioned, the bartender/server explained that they could not afford to open a high end scotch label from the liquor store to serve in the restaurant. Well, we were just served two drinks of Macallan 12 yr scotch @ $14.00 each. And upon leaving the restaurant it was confirmed that more of the same was on the liquor store shelf!! Explain that one. Next was the amount of menu items that were not available. Now we were dining early (6:30) on a Saturday evening and none of the "starters" (Boards) were available and neither was an entree or a dessert. Total of five menu items and scotch "sold out". It appears that there is room for improvement. But let me end by saying that the bartender/server was pleasant, engaging and did his best under the circumstances. If we visit again, I'm hoping for a better experience that I know the chef owner can deliver.
Top-notch service with extra attention paid to our dietary restrictions. They even made us a custom dessert for us! Our evening was so special because of how important we were made to feel. The food was excellent and the experience was A+! My only wish is the Ciro 40 Acres offered the same level of service. We’ll be back- thanks!
Great food and wine selection, excellent attention.
I literally stumbled across this place and OMG what an incredible find! We did the chefs tasting menu with the wine pairing and it was perfection and super fun! No pretense or stuffiness at all ! It was incredibly laid-back and the whole experience was so enjoyable.
We also got to spend some time with the winemaker/owner and walked away with an incredible case of wine, that was made by the owner, and a really really lovely night. Can’t wait to get back here!
It was a first visit to Ciro Riverfront but it won't be the last. Everything was superb! My friends shared a chef's taste and loved every item. I enjoyed the garlic shrimp and artichoke risotto and had to bring some home. Excellent food! They have their own wine. Buy it from Veritas and bring it with you. You won't regret it. My friends bought the white and the red and we drank both bottles. Perfect pairings with our meals. You will definitely have a great experience from apps to dessert. The staff are helpful and patient and loads of fun.
We enjoyed the chef’s tasting menu. Some really high spots in the meal. Next time we could probably opt for the regular menu to give us more flexibility. We would definitely make a return visit!
Food is always great.
Great food. Love how their menu recommends wines that pair well with your food choices.
Always amazing food and amazing staff. Venu, Brian, and Mike are great!
Very fresh ingredients and great taste !
