Michael DiBianca is a Culinary Institute of America graduate and New Jersey native who has been a local star in the Wilmington food/dining scene for more than a decade. This local treasure comes to the area from the former Restaurant 821 in Wilmington, where he was owner Tobias Lawry’s sous chef and then chef de cuisine. He went on the launch the renowned Moro restaurant and Satsuma Asian Kitchen & Bar in the Trolley Square area.

    We enjoy the multi-course tasting menu. It gets us to try food outside of our usual orders. The Chef and them at Ciro have thoughtful wine pairings that complemented with the tasting menu. Last night we enjoyed the fresh Summer tomato tasting menu. While the courses had some hits and misses, overall we enjoyed the evening and discovered two new favorite wines. Looking forward to another visit.

    I’d eat here every day if I could. Came in for one of their special menu events and ordered a chef’s tasting menu option at other visits - the food is so good, it makes me dance in my seat! Fun cocktails and delish wine pairings make the meal extra special. Plus everyone who works there is super kind and accommodating.

    Ciro staff and food are always above and beyond. Highly recommend the pre-selected courses with wine pairings, they have never disappointed. Food is fresh, sourced from local farms and menu is imaginative and continuously rotating.

    The food and service were very good. The vegetable really tasted farm fresh. Everything was nicely prepared and well seasoned. The ambience is fairly basic but it still was a comfortable place to dine. We eat early so that we could attend an early movie so there were very few customers there during our dinner. Overall we enjoyed our meal and the whole dining experience. We recommend this place and intend to return.

    No real options other than the price fix menu were given. Food was ok but not great. The green beans served with the lamb were inedible. Wine was totally overpriced and they didn’t even provide a bucket of ice to keep it cold. Service was not great and the back part of the restaurant and bathroom were dirty and unkept. I would not go back.

    We wanted to try this restaurant for a long time and finally went. We were very disappointed. We choose the chefs 4 course and wine paring. The waitress was very vague as to what the menu was. My experience with chef courses, that there is a menu detailing the courses or the waitress had the menu memorized. First course was good followed by a cheap piece of cod, next was a lamb dish when I was told it “might” be steak. Not a big fan of lamb and if I was told this I would not selected the pairings. The dessert dish was good. The wine pairing was way over priced as to what you got. First wine did not arrive until after food came. After that the glasses shrunk and the pours were stingy. The restaurant was under staffed and the service was lacking. Seemed that there was only one waitress. I watched the manager as he never interacted or helped his frantic staff. And he was the one who recommended the chefs tasting. I will not be back.

    We enjoyed our visit. Wine selection was small but seemed well put together. I had a unique white pinot noir which was very good. We had the beets, carrots, tuna flat bread and gnocchi, which were all delicious. We did not enjoy the lamb, it was a bit tough, we were expecting lamb "lollipops" but this was a much large piece. However, the seasoning and sauce on the lamb was also really good. Overall, a great visit, but it is pricy, so be prepared.

    A tiny restaurant with absolutely fantastic food. We had a five-course tasting dinner. Rather than referring us to the menu, the co-owner told us that the courses would be whatever the chef chose to prepare that evening--the chef is the other owner. We proceeded to enjoy a wonderful progression of dishes starting with raw tuna and watermelon and moving through branzino, lamb "bacon" and duck confit finishing with creme brulee on top of fresh local peaches. Each dish was inventive and superbly well prepared. The meal was comparable to--or better than-- we've had at many high-end restaurants here in the DC area and other large cities. All from a little space that occupies one half of a small wine shop and that night was run by a two-person staff--the two owners. We will definitely return the next time we visit Wilmington.

    Went and had the tasting menu and left very disappointed. Expected a variety of options with some unique dishes but ended up with an overdose of tomato dishes along with a pretty disappointing dessert of banana pudding. A couple of slices of banana in a bland pudding. One of the dishes (pork belly) was so over cooked, tough, and crunchy. Read other reviews of the quality food despite the lackluster ambience but ended up getting the short end of stick on both. Oh well, lesson learned. Service was overall good but wish was more observant on the food being pretty lackluster. Also odd as the chef didn’t seem to be even cooking at any point. Seemed like everything must’ve been prepped and was just simply plating.

    The food and service were excellent. I typically don't go for prefix dinners because they are small portions. But my dinner partner and I were not left wanting after our meal. I will go there again.

    Outstanding food and service. Our first time there and it will not be the last. We were celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary. My husband chose two small plates as an entree, while I enjoyed the roasted beets to start, and the duck breast as my entree. We ate every bite. No room for dessert but we were surprised with the gift of a glass of sparkling wine to finish our meal with an anniversary toast. A gem of a place!

    No longer the new kid on the block but still the best restaurant in Wilmington if you are interested in great food and the ability to actually have a conversation with your date. The noise at the newer trendy spots makes every conversion full of “huh?” “What did you say?” and more.

    21 Spoons Typically love Ciro but they truly missed the boat on the 21 spoon Italian tasting. The first course was the best course which was the crudo course. Tuna, salmon and scallop which was bright and fresh but it went down hill from there. We tried to order a bottle of red wine but all 3 bottles we selected they did not have. They found a substitute and it was fine. No stemmed wine glasses all we stemless which makes you feel like a kindergartner drinking juice at lunch. The next 6 courses were tastes less, cold and greasy. The presentation on all “spoons” looked like the last bite from your takeout container of leftovers. The service was as if they found the wait staff that day. There were 6 of us for dinner and The wait staff was slapping plates down randomly and explaining what we were eating with each plate that was delivered. One of our guests had to leave early and we informed the wait staff that they left. While serving a course they placed a plate of food on the table where the person was no longer sitting before serving the other 5 of us. It truly was like “key stone cops” the bill for 6 of us with tip which we still Tipped 20% was $650.

    The twenty one spoon tasting of France was incredible! We can’t wait to try the next tasting. The food, the service and the wi e all exceeded our expectations! A tremendous job done by the entire staff at Ciro to make the meal special and memorable.

    I am going to say that one sure fired way to tell if you had a good meal is whether you are still discussing (and have changed your mind) which part of a meal was the best the following morning. This was a top notch meal from start to finish, with great service too.

    Food was amazing! Staff were very attentive and friendly. The only area of improvement is cosmetic. The lights kept flickering and at one point was so strobe like that my eyes watered and head started to hurt. Could use a bit of cleaning with the light fixtures that lead over to Veritas as well. But 100% will go back again! It was a wonderful evening!

    The goat cheese ravioli small plate was delicious, as was the cauliflower. Our entrees (salmon and tuna) were both delicious as well. Metal seating was not very comfortable. The bathroom was extremely dark and cluttered. Overall I would recommend for the food alone!

    Was surprised that the only option was the Valentines tasting menu. We were excited about the doing tasting menu like we often do but $99/ person versus the normal $69 was a bit steep. The portions for tasting seemed small this time and unfortunately we all left hungry, which had never happened before (this was our fourth time visiting). The opening squash soup with sage was bland and needed some salt and was not a good opening to the tasting. All the dishes were good- especially the lobster/scallop bowl. The serving of filet was way too small. Perhaps because it was so busy they limited the sizes. We’ll probably go back again but will avoid the Valentines Special.

    Food was horrible. Brussels were nice, which made me excited for my Mahi entrée. Presentation was lovely, so far so good. First taste startled me, as the puree under the fish was incredibly bitter and inedible. Fish was already dead, no idea why they killed it twice. Ordered the clam risotta to replace, which had me laughing at how somehow soupy ranch clam chowder ended up in front of me, with incredibly overcooked risotto. Everything was great from the service end of things, but the food was exceptionally awful. Just plain disappointing.
